Really? They don't have "nearly" that much cap space? With Thompson going on LTIR, they are actually right about there.

That Anaheim will try to move a contract isn't surprising, but that's an exaggeration. They do have nearly that much cap space.

Fowler should be the one to go. After this season, he's one season away from UFA status. Trade him now with 2 years left while his value is still high.

I'd prefer Despres. Between the two, the cap savings is comparable but Fowler is a much better player. Anaheim is a better team in that situation.

That being said, you make a valid point regarding his contract status. He's also the one that is most likely to bring a good return. It comes down to whether or not Murray is looking to create space, or if he's trying to strengthen a weakness.

What I have said in this thread is that when questioned about my assumptions, parties have then followed with their assumptions about the fiscal situations at hand. While I believe they have made assumptions too. Apparently their assumptions are justifiable and others are not, because while there is still no first hand knowledge or source directly supporting their assertion, they've become an expert on the scenario greater than others because, well, you've been talking about it on your board. So stick with that, but while you're at it, talk about time travel on your board too and report back what you guys figure out because if I had the crystal ball thing, this would all have been avoided.

What we have here is the difference between an opinion(yours) and an educated opinion(Ducks fans). They are not equal. You still haven't shown that you know anything about Anaheim's budget situation, let alone as much as a Ducks fan would. I have elaborated, quite exhaustively in responses to you and dkollidas. You mentioning that Pierre McGuire said that the Ducks were looking to move out ONE contract out, is the only fact that you've brought into it. Hey, you know what we talk about in those conversations on our board? The facts that have been reported; the statements from the owners, management, agents, and reporters that filter out.

" we are not looking at things the same way." Mckenzie quoting raks agent, this kucherov bridge deal has obviously killed raks, some good contracts being made the last few days, BM will get us great deals!

Not sure how much the Risto and Kucherov deals change things for Anaheim. Lindholm is better than Risto and Kucherov signed a short bridge deal. Neither deal really changed the market.

Now you're deluding yourself. Ristolainen's deal will absolutely be viewed as a comparable.

Based on the Risto and Rielly deals, Lindholm deserves 5.75 - 6 million long-term.

Kucherov is not a comparable for Rakell.

Mmm I highly disagree kucherov is 2x the player Raks is and got mid 4s for a 3 year bridge deal, so a comp bridge deal( I know it has been said we don't want to give him one) would be half that imo and long term he doesn't deserve even as much as silver( unless it's for full 8 years

How does it work?

Kucherov might not be a direct comparable, but he's a much better player than Rakell, and his salary should, and likely would be used by Anaheim as evidence of what Rakell deserves to get.

There has to be a market for Simon though. Doesn't seem like there is for a pure cap dump. Maybe Carolina takes him for a low pick?

But this was mentioned just this afternoon.

Yeah, I'd expect him to miss a few games, but if we're talking about his eligibility, he's fine.

I don't see Despres as a pure cap dump, but I suppose GM's may feel differently. There is a risk associated with him because of the concussions, but it's not like he's a fringe defenseman. Good size and skills, and he's already shown there is some pretty good capability there. If he were a 32 year old in this same situation, I'd agree.

Would love Despres on the Devils. Hopefully Anaheim panics and gives up Despres for a cheap amount

Carolina certainly is not taking Despres. He has a massive contract and is coming off a serious injury year, I don't see any GM willing to gamble on him at this point. He has to prove his health and effectiveness over a long stretch again.
