Honestly, I think 5 years after the first cup win and 3 years after the last one, I don't think some of these forwards have the legs for the kind of game the Kings are trying to play.

To be effective on the forecheck you have to get in on the defenseman before he can move the puck. That isn't happening with the kind of regularity we would see when the Kings were playing winning hockey.

yes, Sutters system is done, wanted him gone last year. you can't tell me a team with Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Gabby, Brown and Pearson cantscore. time for a new system and coach

no more pylons on skates - King, Greene, McNabb etc

Yes, the 40th yr of slap shot. I remember watching the three Carlson brothers play high school hockey in Virginia Minnesota. Yes, Carlson. The third brother Jack Carlson, Was not able to make the movie because of his continuing career, so they got a third person from Minnesota who is actually named Hanson, thus the Hanson brothers in the film. Yes, the Carlson brothers could fight but also weren't bad at hockey, especially Steve. Steve played a bit for the Kings I think? After playing for a few teams in the WHA. Jack played on the North Stars. I'm pretty sure at least one of the brothers growing up wore the heavy black Athletic gloves . I've heard before they've had input into the movie. It's my guess it was their idea to have all three of them put glasses on with the tape. They also had input into how the fighting scene should go down. Many of the scenes were based on true stories. Simply classic.

I saw the Carlson brothers play for the Minnesota Fighting Saints in the WHA against the Phoenix Roadrunners.

One of the best fan gags I have ever seen was the first couple of rows behind the Minnesota bench would put on their fake black-rim glasses and noses whenever the Carlsons returned to the bench after a shift. There is no way those guys missed seeing it.

We may be expecting too much if we think Quick's return is going to save the season.

There is still going to be goals. The key is are they going to be soft ones that take the air out of the team

The Kings don't put pucks deep anymore, they try too many forced plays, to try and keep possession through center ice.

Once they hit the red line, if nothing is there, they should be dumping the puck, making defenders turn around to retrieve pucks, and hammering them.

Instead, the Kings are trying to keep possession at all times, and turning the puck over.

Keep it simple stupid.

Carter and Pearson are scoring.

I wouldn't put Kopitar's lack of production all on Sutter. Kopitar doesn't shoot enough and doesn't go to the net with authority.

Brown and Gaborik simply don't have the same level of play anymore.

Toffoli? Hope he has a bounce back season next year.

So they're still tired from 2014? You'd think with the amount of games they haven't played Sutter hockey that they'd be a bit more rested. The long summer's. 5 playoff games in 2 years. The Kings do employ professional athletes, right?

The next coach that comes in, what's he going to do with a bunch of guys that can't do anything because they have no legs for years on end?

Agreed, but what I am seeing is even when the Kings get it deep. They aren't in quick enough to force errors by the opposition's defense.

When the Kings were at their best other teams would have long stretches where they couldn't advance the puck past the red line.

Not tired, just older. The legs are typically the first thing to go on a professional athlete. In the NHL being in late on the forecheck by just a second makes a difference.

The next coach is going to need younger players with size. Look at the boost King and Nolan provided in 2012. You think those two get in on the forecheck today like they did 5 years ago? The effort may still be there, but the results are not. That goes for Brown and maybe Kopitar as well.

I don't want them to barely make the playoffs. If they get in it needs to be with momentum otherwise it's moot against the Wild or Sharks.

Lombardi should have put incentives in Kopi's $10 million contract. The more you shoot, the more you earn. Bonus for goals Kopitar scores.

Then where's the rush to get Sutter off the bench? Those guys aren't going anywhere, and they're not getting faster. If you even one guy on a shift that can't keep up in a speed league, you're screwed. Kopitar, Brown, Toffoli, Muzzin, none of them can skate.

Three penalties against already.

This isn't just Sutter's system. The big, heavy forecheck game the Kings played so well in 2012 and 2014 is something Dean Lombardi believes in very much.

Dean made a mistake in thinking if he kept the band together, they could keep playing the same system ad infinitum.

McNabb may handle the puck like it's a hand grenade, but man he can really lay the wood to opposing players at times.
