I'm not gonna litigate the Staal era tonight. We'll remember the good years he had here and applaud him tonight, even if I don't think his legacy is quite what they've been trying to sell it as.The last really positive thing he did for the org was the 2009 run over 15 years ago.
He's a big what if for me. What if he didn't end up on a team where he won the cup immediately, a team that was just happy their transcendent stat willingly signed a second contract with no drama and didn't push him, leading to a country club atmosphere? He basically admitted when he went to the Rags and sucked eggs was a wakeup call he had to start taking conditioning seriously. Weird legacy, the new team has attracted a ton of new fans and old fans like me have moved on
Its where the hand-off from wing covering to a defenseman and the D are either late or the wing is handing off too early.Between the circles
I don't think his jersey deserved to hang next to the likes of Francis and RBA. He fell off hard and fast. Unlike his brother. He was simply lazy af post 2009.I'm not gonna litigate the Staal era tonight. Patternistic1 goal 3 shots
Or they are. As they took it personallyAnaheim definitely not looking like a team that got hammered 6 nil last night…
35 year old Eric Staal has more offense in his pinky thank Kotkaniemi has in his entire body. Our 2C is on the ice right now. He sure looks like he could still play.
Canes put forth the final-year Eric Staal effort in that period! Our 2nd line is the only one who generated much that period
The goal visualizer on NHL.com is so cool, it makes it easy to see what happened: Jaaska vacated his zone and followed (what he thought was) his man into the slot, Ducks get it to the guy in the vacated zone, which draws Slavin and Drury, and the guy gets it to the goalscorer in the high slot, which I think was Drury's zone, to pick a corner.Teams seem to be picking out soft spots in the Canes D-zone set up
