LeBrun: Dubois wants out of Winnipeg, will not sign a contract for next season

Automatically better than anything that has a cap dump in it, which is basically most of anything that has been offered here. I'm going to assume that Morrow and Nikishin are the two total non-starters on the prospect front?
Nikishin is a non-starter for our front office since they said he was not available when we were still in pursuit of getting Meier at the trade deadline.

Morrow, however, is assumed by Canes fans to be available for the right player. I didn't mention him in my last post because it seems like there are very lackluster offers and low opinions about the trade return for PLD in this topic.

If Morrow is included as the prospect (I consider him above B tier; I think some experts do too based on a prospects ranking list a couple of months ago), I'd want Philly's 2nd round removed, and maybe at best, replace it with our own 2024 2nd round pick.

2023 1st round pick + Morrow + Carolina's 2024 2nd round based on the assumption PLD will re-sign. Seems like a good offer based on this topic.

I'd prefer to swap Morrow for another prospect, and our 2024 2nd round with Philly's. Push come to shove, I'd personally do either one though if PLD extended with us. I was hoping we could keep Morrow though.

well if the news of montreal trying to move up in the draft is true that would probably mean they are out on pld

I'll bet you every team from 4-10 has called CBJ and ANA asking the price.

MTL is out if pieces like Kotkaniemi or Byfield are being dangled though for sure.

I would be far from opposed to that deal. The other prospect I was eyeing is Lucius, for somewhat obvious reasons.

Final offer.
Most Hab fans would say no but i would do this and not a penny more as long as Dubois signs for a fair price.
Florida's 1st, + Habs 2nd or Harris
One of Dvorak or Hoffman
any prospect not name Lane or Mailoux
If the LA offer is Vilardi and Spence then MTL would have to offer:

FL 1st + Dach

Or

FL 1st + Beck + Barron

Jets don't want Dvorak or Hoffman unless there's a sweetner with them that is separate from the assets to aquire PLD. We'd be looking at Calgary's 1st, so you're better off just hanging on to them

If Byfield is on the table, Dach would have to be too

I'm aware of the hesitancy of Habs fans to involve Dach, so there is likely no deal to be had

LA just seems like a better fit

If it's low enough to try and flex? Yes, they would.

Depending on when they file for arbitration PLD has until July 5th iirc to accept an offersheet.
No way I’m turning down possibly multiple firsts to “flex.” That’s not flexing, it’s just dumb.

i don't understand why LA would offer you Vilardi

With regards to *flexing* I meant the inane HFHabs conspiracy that PLD will sign a one year offersheet at a 2nd round comp dollar amount to screw the Jets (and himself out of millions) to save the Habs future assets. Trying to *flex* on the Jets, push them around.

The Jets would match that. But PLD is also too smart to sign that. He's also not signing a long term offersheet, the Jets just match it.

PLD's best interest is just letting this process play out. Worked out for Trouba.

Not sure how high Winnipeg's front office is on our Lucius, but how about:

1st round pick + Lucius + Philly's 2024 2nd round pick?

Or another question, what non-Morrow/Nikishin prospect do you think would be appealing to Winnipeg from Carolina? We have B tier defensive prospects like Honka, Koivunen, and Heimosalmi.

Forward wise, there's Gunler, Trikozov, Suzuki, and Rees.

Yes, I've read the thread. In fact, the title of the thread says he will not sign a contract for next season. So that clearly indicates that he will sit until he is traded. He won't play another game for the Jets. Do you think he'll cave and sign with them for next season?

If he sits until December 1st his rights with Winnipeg extend and push hisnUFA status out another year.

So you think he'll cave and sign with the Jets for another year? Or will he sit out until the Jets trade him? Those are the two options on the table.

what is most likely is he gets traded with an extension
Yes, that is ultimately the only outcome that makes sense. My comment initially was that it could take all summer to play out. I'm sure everyone would like it to be resolved quickly but I'm also sure that the Jets (and their fans) want to get maximum value for him.

Cruz's brother Chaz is one of our top prospects.

That deal looks absolutely fine. As for your question, you might want to ask someone who's a little higher on the Jets' management than me, but I'd automatically exclude all Finns from that list (I'd like Heimosalmi, personally). Forward wise, very tough to say. Guessing Rees could warrant attention, as he is closer to NHL ready.

I keep on looking at capfriendly trying to understand how the Kings are going to fit Dubois under the salary cap. They can't, even if the Jets take Vilardi.

Unless there is someone who is going on LTR.

they add a contract avridsson/iaffalo/moore

Thinking out of the box:

Pegs have said they want "now" pieces. What about Matheson for Dubois straight up ?

Matheson is a former 23rd overall, coming into his own with 2 x 30 points seasons.
Very smooth and mobile new era defensemen.
Signed for 3 more years under 5M$ AAV.

Everyone is trying to push for Harris since MTL has depth in LHD, but what is what Matheson that finally gets it done ? We could do with Ghule, Harris, Xhekaj & Hutson...

Never seen it proposed/discussed before...
Doesn't he have a NTC?

Just reading threw this thread, I wasn’t aware that most of the rumoured teams lack the picks required to make the offersheet so that makes an already long shot even more unlikely.

I think pld's value is kind of hard to pin down since jets don't want a heavy futures package, I think a deal with a good roster piece would beat a deal mostly focused on futures
