Not even close… PLD knows where he wants to play and is using his leverage to get there… just like every other player… what he did in CBJ, I’ll admit was scummy, but everything he’s done in WPG has been ok.
As for cancer in the locker room… thats Wheeler and Scheifele
You have to admit, PLD is a potential problem and GMs will definitely weight that in any offer. A malcontent.

Don't see the Avs doing this as a rental. However, if they were to go that route, signing Drouin should be a priority so he can poison PLD against the idea of signing in Montreal.
Why wouldn't the Avs trade the 1st + Newhook for PLD. That a steal. The 1st is a very high 1st and Newhook is a disappointment.

Depends…
If you take him at face value that he really wants to play in Montreal, then he’s a pure 1 year rental. Get him and hope he’s the missing piece for your run.
If you consider him a quitter or flaky, he still produces and hits, so he could be a good add to a contender short term.
If your the Habs GM, you sit back and wait til he hits UFA and see what happens.. honestly, Hughes paying anything for him just for 1 extra year is stupid, considering the Habs aren’t really contending yet

100% agree with you. But i see an avenue with the Avs who desperately need a 2C for a cup run.

1st + Newhook while disappointing is likely fair value.

I think thats the most likely outcome and as it doesn’t include Dvorak, I’m ok with it… because at this point, I’m just so sick of the Dvorak offers

Have you watched the Jets over the last few years… Disappointment is what Chevy serves best
No but on paper u guys had a great team imo

Connor
Scheifele
Hellebuyck
Dubois
Ehlers
Morrissey
Wheeler

Thats alot of good pieces so i think he did alright but im also looking from the outside you guys know alot more

They have limited assets to trade. They can't do this every summer. They have to make this count.
The fact that the Avs have limited assets to trade means that they won't get a permanent solution. If you only have a late 1st and Newhook, then you take on a rental. You would be lucky to get PLD for that meagre offer. You have to do it.

Who knows, maybe he signs longterm if the Avs win a cup. Of maybe not. lol

We have 2 extra 1st round picks that we can trade, Florida's this year and a future from Calgary, those are always valuable. The prospects with value I could see them trading are Harris, Mailloux, Roy, Farrell, Kidney, Beck, Mesar, Engstrom.

We just have to beat the next best offer, which is probably going to be pretty easy if PLD won't sign an extension
Or just say no! This is not the player I derail a rebuild for. As a UFA if his ask is in the 7.5 range I consider signing him, trading assets for him, not a chance unless we want to go back to being a bubble team.

It's not that I disagree with you about Newhook and the 1st getting him under the tent is good value. But its worth considering each side has a certain degree of leverage. PLD doing this is the first domino. WPG isnt without leverage though. Winnipeg can go to Colorado and say "we need more." Colorado can then say, "if we pay more, we need an extension." At that point WPG goes to PLD and says, "how bad do you want to get out if here? Do you want to endure a year of misery or do you want to go negotiate a deal so we can get something we're ok with and trade you?"

But he's not really a rental though. He's an RFA at the end of this month so that means that any acquiring him would have to sign him to a contract anyhow - not sure why people believe it has to be a 1 year deal.

From the Avs point of view, they probably aren't giving up Newhook and a 1st for a player that they'd only have for 1 year. They'd want to be sure that he'd be interested in signing long-term. If he's adamant about becoming a UFA next summer, they'd probably move on to another target.

And PLD says... no i want to explore free agency. And Sakic says, ok fair enough. Let's do the deal because we are fleecing the Jets anyways.

Its a no-brainer.

I wonder if Boston looks into this, I don't think they want to go from 65 wins, to a rebuild, and that could happen given the age of their center core.

I've said for a while Boston is his most likley destination. He's an ideal fit in terms of play style and allows them to get younger without going into a rebuild. I don't see him as anxious to sign in his hometown as some people seem to think. He may want to play there, but I don't think he's interested in spending his prime years on a team that has no real chance of making the playoffs.

Man I never understand the hate players get. I'm a Jets' fan, Dubois was an absolute beast this season and then got injured and couldn't play as aggressively. He didn't want to be here but he was still ridiculously good. I understand the appeal of saying "oh he quit on the team" to get better value but in reality the concern isn't him quitting, because he didn't, it's his health while playing the style that makes him effective.

So, it looks like everyone is just regurgitating the same slop that they already spewed over the past year. Boring!

I hope Chevy can make a good deal by the draft. Sounds like the Jets might have more core pieces in play.
