Doesn't sound like it's "I want to only be in montreal". Also, if his goal was to get to Montreal asap, he'd sign his 1 year deal and go at UFA next summer. This makes it sound like he's willing to be elsewhere

I'm guessing there is a list of markets he'd re-sign in and chevy can work to get the best deal from those teams

Man I never understand the hate players get. I'm a Jets' fan, Dubois was an absolute beast this season and then got injured and couldn't play as aggressively. He didn't want to be here but he was still ridiculously good. I understand the appeal of saying "oh he quit on the team" to get better value but in reality the concern isn't him quitting, because he didn't, it's his health while playing the style that makes him effective.

Players like PLD truly are a cancer to the league. A moderately high end player with aggressively zero loyalty thus making him borderline impossible to add to your team well enough to achieve a greater outcome.

Rangers leadership had a player who forced his way out of winnipeg tonhis chosen team while in his last year if RFA (trouba), and a player who demanded trades from 2 different teams before he ever set foot on NHL ice (fox). Guess the league should schedule some chemotherapy for NYR.

Not one actually credible source has come out and said that, it's always Montreal media or just random website speculation. Just because he didn't want to play in Columbus and doesn't want to play in Winnipeg isn't him forcing his way to one specific team... I'm sure a lot of players around the league don't want to play in either of those cities, Winnipeg in particular is the worst city in the NHL for players.


Will be very interesting to watch this situation unfold though. I wonder if Dubois ends up opting for a 3 year deal wherever he goes so he can cash in on another big deal as a UFA in 3 years time when the cap has likely blown up.

It will all be fine when he would join us and then some adversity would happen and then Mr Dubois would probably hide under a rock and whine as usual.

Also habs won't give more money to Dubois than they did with Suzuki and Caufield who are better players and actual good teammates

Its a no-brainer.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Chevy's goal here is to figure out if Montreal is the only destination for Dubois, and then it's to figure out if he can get more with Dubois as a rental or from a low balling Montreal. Maybe he's that set on Montreal a year from now, but any time you let him think about it gives him time to think of other options. If Montreal is a bottom feeder again is it still more appealing than Boston, Colorado, or Los Angeles?
