Are the reasons for PLD wanting out of CBJ and Winnipeg well established?

The CBJ locker room has a bit of a reputation, not really talked about, from what I’ve heard here and there on podcasts.

And obviously for the Jets one head coach just had it mid season and the current one berating the team culture very recently. (They must themselves take a lot of responsibility for that of course but that’s beside the point)

My baseline is very strongly that PLD is a bit to problematic for comfort, but I’m also wondering if he has been quite unlucky in what teams he has ended up on?
The only reason literally is that he has wanted
To be in MTL since being drafted.

People see it as “why did he want out with 2 teams”?

It’s really quite simple.

Imo PLD’s purpose has been to gain leverage beyond his point totals in his coming contract negotiations to the club that trades for him. Bo Horvat did that and got 8.5 x 8 from the club that acquired him. I don’t know if PLD will return the same in trade value as Horvat but I think he’s getting a similar (if not more) contract from his new club.

They're 1b centres. If they are your 1c you're in trouble. If they are you're 2c you're doing extremely well.
Yeah, you need 1c's like Connor Mcdavid, Auston Matthews, then you're in good shape. Cant win cups with 60-70 point guys like Ryan Oreilly, David Krejci, Jonathan Toews or Anze Kopitar.

Also confused, if Montreal has both players, they're in trouble because one of them is their 1C but they're also doing extremely well because one of them is their 2c?

Krejci is just making my point as he is a 2C, thanks.

I'm not sure Dubois or Suzuki would be the 1C with Thomas or Schen. But sure if you can stack centre on your team sure, you can do well playing each to their strengths. But they are all 1B Centres with similar value.

If you think Suzuki or Dubois is in the same league as Kopitar and Toews you are in for some serious disappointment.

This has been a great read.
Wondering how far off the valuations in this thread are when the deal really goes down.

I thought Arpon Basu and Marc Antoine Godin were pretty well connected in Montreal? I’m going to guess they are more well connected then any of us clowns on this board

They are reasonably connected for sure, but not anywhere close to as connected to Friedman who is still doubling down on his believe that it's almost a foregone conclusion that he wants to be in Montreal.

I dont have any doubt that the whole "pick 5-6 teams and we'll do a sign and trade" has been discussed, but I'd be willing to bet that is more what Cheveldayoff is asking for rather that what Dubois camp is interested in doing.

Wow, I guess Dach and his 38 points despite 66% ozone starts and his 38.3% faceoff percentage (fourth worst in the entire league) sure smells like a proven superstar.

What stats are you looking at?

Dach has a 57% ev ozone starts last season. Its Dubois/Connor/Ehlers who are in the 60+% range in Ozone starts.

For faceoffs, most young players start off bad. Even Dubois was at 43% at Dach's age.

No one being discussed in this thread is a superstar. Dach isn't untouchable but makes no sense for Montreal to move him for Dubois.

Krejci is just making my point as he is a 2C, thanks.
Krejci was the Bruins #1 C in 2011 with 62p in 75 gp averaging a minute more per game than Bergeron (18:50 vs 17:50) while bergeron had 57p in 80 gp.

In the playoffs Krejci played about a minute and a half more than Bergeron per game (20:07 - 18:42), while outscoring Bergeron by 3 points.

Point is, depth wins cups. A team with 4 Suzuki type centers could beat a team with Connor Mcdavid and 3 nick Bjugstads behind him. If you lack elite offensive talent up front (like 2011 bruins or 2012 Kings, or even the 2019 blues) you have to be very strong in other areas.

it would make zero sense for the jets to leak to the montreal media of all places that there are 5-6 teams he'd extend long term with...

Arpon Bash has no scoops. ABHNS.
Yeah arpon is not someone who gets scoops arpon regurgitates but I’ve yet to see him break anything he’ll just a week ago he was saying on tsn that Cole would sign for 9M+ or be on a bridge deal

Tony marinaro has more Montreal scoops then arpon

That actually doesn’t explain it at all. He’s waiting seven years for ufa regardless of where he plays. The attitude and demands don’t change that. He’s been an insufferable prick when it doesnt actually get him any closer to Montreal.

What if Montreal is not interested?

After all, would you really want someone on your team that has brought baggage everywhere they've been because they weren't drafted where they wanted to be? Seems like a selfish player who's focus may not actually be on playing hockey to the best of their ability.
