honestly, I'd do Chytil+Schneider+24th for Dubois
the only question with the Rangers is how do they squeeze PLD into their cap structure for more than a year? I really have no clue. You can't be paying him more than 7.5 for it to really work and even then, it's tricky. The cap does rise next year I guess but it's still gonna be tight, too tight.

Lafreniere-Dubois-Kakko
would be a real heavy line. would love to see it
Jets do that without hesitation.

He is an RFA and saying he won't sign a contract. Let him sit and not get paid.

He has arbitration right now. So the Jets have to qualify him and he can force them into arbitration, which not only guarantees him either a contract or the ability to walk but one that will take him right into free agency.

Sitting him for a whole season wouldn't accomplish anything but to completely destroy any value the Jets could get while telling any potential UFA to stay the hell away. At the end of the day, getting something for Dubois is better than nothing.

Suzuki ain't exactly lighting the league on fire either.

They're both pretty meh in the grand scheme of things.
What do you mean meh? The standard for being a pretty good player on these boards is extremely high. That applies to both PLD and Suzuki.

Just saying that even if he might be a tad better than Dubois, it's not really that big of a feat or something to be so proud about. Most teams have better players than these two. Why bicker about them? Just weird to flex about these average as hell players.

Also he won't be a center on the Habs, we have Suzuki and Dach at center, If he's on the team next year I would put him here:

Dubois - Suzuki - Caufield
Slafkovsky - Dach - Harvey Pinard

PLD would move Dach to wing very obviously. Come on.

2022/23 points per 60 (5v5):

Frederic 1.97
Dubois 1.78
Newhook 1.56
Dach 1.35

Neither is Suzuki...

Frederic was pumped up by Taylor Hall. It lead to amazing stats for Frederic and shit stats for Hall.

PLD has informed the Jets that he is not interested in signing any contract (even one year contract) . Why would he force arbitration then?

If it's only a threat. Call his bluff.

Because Dach can’t break 40% on faceoffs and is one of the handful of worst faceoff guys in the NHL

when his season was wrapping up it had improved. Early season yeah it was a problem end of season he was in the mid forties and trending up. He’ll never be Bergeron or ROR in the dot. But he’ll be fine

He’ll sign a 1 yr offer sheet if not wrapped by august like KK that will be all futures value. The jets accept they can’t trade him jets don’t accept they get a 1st and a 3rd. That’s the rock and the hard place right now

On paper PLD is a great acquisition.

Big center that can produce at a 70 or so point level.

There are a few red flags with his history, quitting on Columbus and now wanting out of Winnipeg. In fairness, those are two of the least desirable cities in the league (no offense intended to the people of either city, check my location), and both teams were in a state of disarray when he wanted out.

Those issues, combined with the Habs trajectory (not going to be competitive for a few more years) make me either want to get him for pennies on the dollar or see Montreal get outbid for his rights. We're not a desperate franchise at this time looking for a big top 6 forward that puts us over the edge.

It would be nice, however, to benefit from location, just for once. A luxury that fans from many Southern markets and large centers take for granted.

If gramma had roller skates she might be a street car……
8 years is a long time. We're going to have fun over the next 8 years mocking those who doubted Caufield.

Have the 5-6 teams been leaked yet? Would be fun to speculate on possible returns from those teams as well and not just Montreal

Are the reasons for PLD wanting out of CBJ and Winnipeg well established?

The CBJ locker room has a bit of a reputation, not really talked about, from what I’ve heard here and there on podcasts.

And obviously for the Jets one head coach just had it mid season and the current one berating the team culture very recently. (They must themselves take a lot of responsibility for that of course but that’s beside the point)

My baseline is very strongly that PLD is a bit to problematic for comfort, but I’m also wondering if he has been quite unlucky in what teams he has ended up on?
