No, I've never been to Winnipeg.

I guess it's really hard to be an NHL players WAG though, because who the hell would want to suffer a few months a year in order for hubby to make millions playing hockey. I mean they could get a job and hobbies for themselves, but naah...

Life is hard for gold diggers.

Its not just that. I have 3 friends that I played hockey with that went on to play minor pro for years and met their wives who were from the states. While they pursued there dreams of playing in the NHL the wives went back closer to home to raise the kids. Guess what happened after their careers were over? They moved to were there wives are. It only makes sense. That is why you want to draft them and marry them off to local girls

Dach has had more games in the NHL which is why I posted the stats after the same amount of games. He's progressing at a better rate at this point in his career than Dach was (although marginally).

Since you Habs fans love talking about scoring rates, Newhook is scoring at a higher rate than dach was at the same point in their careers, therefore according to you guys he's better
Also correct me if I’m wrong but I thought Dach was on mtl’s top pp unit. Newhook is on the 3rd line is playing with bottom 6 players. I’m imagining the 2nd line is playing more offensive 1st situations than a 3rd line and more minutes.

I am not even sure why Montreal would entertain moving Dach. He fits in with their timeline and had a good season. Slaf/PLD/Dach would be one hell of huge pain in the ass line to play against.

Agreed

IMO far too many people are focused on Dach, personally I care about Dach and I don't think Habs would trade him. Jets are strong on LHD, as are the Habs.......but for certain one LHD I might consider that more then Dach. Jets need RHD more, but so do the Habs so not sure that would happen. Beck, not sure if he will ever be more then a 3C. Going to be a fun summer as a Jets fan, could see a lot of moving pieces get traded out and new one brought in. Chevy IMO needs to be aggressive this summer, trust his scouts and go get guys who are buried on deep teams or who fly under the radar. Hoping to see a lot of new pieces in training camp next season.

He wants to go to Montreal. It's doubtful Winnipeg will get full value even if they somehow create a market with 5-6 other teams. What happens if Dubois gets traded to some other team and asks for a trade from them? Even in a sign and trade scenario, would another GM even be willing to take that risk after Dubois has already asked to be moved from his two previous teams?

Trade him to a contender as a rental and call it a day. No reason for montreal to spend assets when they know he's coming in a year.

Love him or hate him he's the type of player you need to win when he's at his best.

I think it’s going to be difficult for Winnipeg to get fair value. It’s unfortunate for them, but I personally think it’s totally fine for a player to want to reach free agency and make a decision on where they want to play. It’s also in a way kind of him to let them know in time to get some trade value, he could have played out his final year as others have and taken less heat and then left. I don’t know if I want to say he is brave because that’s a bit strong, but kudos to him for standing up and being honest.

Every draft pick gets 40 acres of land, a donkey, and a lady. New Jets slogan.

They know it, huh, how? Perrault also wanted to play in mtl and came just before he retired.
Maybe the Stanley cup wants to come to mtl so let’s award them the cup before the season starts.

If this happened, I would be over the moon happy with this return for PLD for Braden Schneider & Chytil I would love that. Even would be happy taking a roster player to balance out the cap a bit more.
That's exactly the type of return I'd be hoping for. In MTL terms, that's Dach and Barron, from LA Vilardi and Spence/Clarke etc. I'd be willing to add one of Heinola or Stanley to even it out

LA may be more ambitious to get a deal done, looks like they're doing everything they can to contend with Doughty and Kopitar. I can't see MTL parting with that kind of package but you never know. Seems pretty steep from LA POV as well.

That's why I'd be elated with any of those

...that's as high as I would go if I were Hughes and if he doesn't agree to an 8-year deal under $8.25 mill per, I wouldn't offer anything...

63 points in 73 games is different than in 82 games...

He is a 70 pt guy but that is still not worth 9 mil IMHO
Good for me then that we live in reality and not la-la-land.

Only points actually scored are counted. Not what pace they were on for 82 games.
