Habs, Rangers and Wild were listed. Good chance that LA is on that list as well. Other two are the big unknowns but I wouldn't doubt that Toronto is also on that list. Seems he wants big markets and Minny for some reason.
marek was the one who said the wild so I wouldn't put much stock into that report

Wild makes sense to me. They do need centers.

Rangers? Wondering about their cap space and who they try to trade? Would they dangle Lafreniere? Very possible. Then what... what NHL contract? I don't think they have the cap room to add Dubois without a guy like Trocheck going the other way.

Would the Rangers do it? Trocheck and Lafreniere?

Rangers are interesting. They have a lot of pieces. No idea if they are interested.

Yeah its gonna be interesting to see how it unfolds and I'm hoping its just resolved as soon as possible so we can focus on the draft.

It's going to be a lot of back and forth and your GM has to go back and forth with 5/6 teams. I would imagine that it gets done from now till draft day and it's very possible it's on draft day.

Even if there is an agreed trade, the next layer is Dubois negioating that 8 year term. A lot of layers to this.

I know the Habs will make a fair offer and will remain in the mix but if the cost to acquire screws up our rebuild in assets we prefer not to trade, we are out. Interested but not desperate.

Curious, what are the offers from other teams in this 50 pages so far? Would other fans not even offering anything indicate anything?
I'm just not in the thread enough to know. Was just curious about Dach - seems that Habs fans are not wanting to move the guy, and I just wanted to know his value.

He isn’t worth a dime over Suzuki or Caufield and that’s where the contract demands will breakdown. That’s even if we get to that point because of Winnipegs trade demands.
You're buying a lot of UFC years with Dubois, which is A LOT different than buying restricted years with Suzuki and Caufield.

Riiiiight?

There are things we just won't find out. I hope we do find out who all those 5 or 6 teams are though. What if Dubois would sign with other teams but only if it's $9M-$10M range? Kind of like how Huberdeau signed with the Flames? Yeah, I stay but only if it's max AAV. Just speculating though.
Dubois is a risk at 10 million. I'll wave goodbye to him for that much and good riddance to his drama...

Why isn't Newhook comparable to Dach?

Newhookover his forst 3 seasons:
159gp 27g 39a 66pts 0.42 points per game

Dach over his first 3 seasons:
152gp 19g 40a 59pts .39 points per game

Looks pretty close to me

Newhook was on pace for 38pts last season and had 30pts this season.

Dach was on pace for 30pts last season and 54pts this season.

I'm not saying Newhook won't be good, but Dach has been improving a lot in a single year while Newhook went in the opposite direction (for now).

Fiinally, Dach is a 6'4 center while Newhook is a 5'10.

Between the 2, it's an easy choice for me.

Dach has had more games in the NHL which is why I posted the stats after the same amount of games. He's progressing at a better rate at this point in his career than Dach was (although marginally).

Since you Habs fans love talking about scoring rates, Newhook is scoring at a higher rate than dach was at the same point in their careers, therefore according to you guys he's better

One thing to consider...

There may be some face saving here if Dubois only wants a Hab trade but doesn't want to put the Jets in the hot seat. Saying he will accept other teams appears less aggressive.

Or not...

So much drama...

Meh I don't what others say, I'm too old to care.

Besides I have never stated PLD will return a king's ransom, even now he won't.

But:

Jets aren't going to be forced to take on cap dumps, just like Flames/Panthers trade.

Jets don't want a futures heavy return

Jets want win now pieces, they want cap back but it will be a hockey trade.

Jets, PLD are working on a 8 year deal to swing a sign and trade with one of 5-6 teams.

I'm not expecting a king's ransom, but some fans keep repeating the Jets are screwed, Jets have to take our cap dump & 2nd rd pick, etc are just plain wrong. Jets will work out a hockey trade, PLD is working with the Jets to make it happen, no clue where he ends up, there will be no king's ransom, but there will be more then spare scraps and cap dumps in the return. Nothing here is unfair that I've stated, anyone who wants to quote me on that I would glad laugh at them if they did.
I know jets fans keep saying this, but I can't think of an example we're what I think jets fans are expecting has happened. I think it's a futures heavy return with a piece that allows them to say there going to be competitive. Weird comparable now that I'm thinking about it but the 2018 trade of Pacioretty is actually probably pretty close when Montreal used to resist rebuilds the same way it sounds like the Jets are now.

Pacioretty at the time, was going into his final year one year from UFA, wasn't happy in the environment and was willing to sign with a new team in fact in the middle of it he dropped Brisson who was pushing him towards LA. He had a bad year but up until that point he was 30-40 goal scorer with Desharnais in a defensive system.

The trade ended up being
Pacioretty for
Tatar, - Who was seen as a cap dump overpaid 15 goal scorer
Suzuki - When he was 19 and looked like the worst of the three Vegas Picks - (Glass, Brannstrom and Suzuki) and a 2nd. The report was that the habs asked for Glass and we're shot down.

What happened after is that Tatar turned back the clock and became a 25 goal scorer while Max regressed and Suzuki blossomed the following year during the memorial cup run with Guelph.

I don't think the Jet's will get a young roster player like Dach, Schneider or another player in a similar mold but I do expect they'll either get a recent top 15 pick player whose still in the junior leagues and a 2nd along with a 15 goal scorer or a higher recent draftee and a later 1st and the same 15 goal scorer (or D)

They are a bit ****** with NTC. They have to move salary to make room for Dubois and the guys making $ are not going to agree to go to Winnipeg. Need a third team.

Well we traded the 13th overall pick for him last year then he looked incredible and improved his production by a lot, so we would want a lot for him.

So

Dvorak = Tatar in Vegas
Florida 1st > Vegas 2nd
Kidney or Beck < Suzuki
Add avs 2nd next year

And call it a day

You might of confused what I posted with what has been reported by insiders vs what I actually think will happen or could happen. All my posts are on what has been reported.......not what I believe which is different.

Reported: Jets wants win now pieces, a hockey trade and are not rebuilding. Also reported they fully expect some futures to be included with the win now piece.

Hunters opinion: I do believe the Jets want win now pieces, it will very likely be a combo of win now pieces and futures, just like what was reported. What is the weighting of win now vs futures is a great question and none of us know. But as an example the Flames/Panthers trade is a perfect example here of a pure hockey trade, both teams got good players after MT demanded a trade. SO in the end it could be a pure hockey trade like Flames/Panthers where both sides win or could be a win now piece with heavier futures TBD.

If you review my posting history, you will see me constantly saying PLD will not return things like 5th OA, Dach, Suzuki, CC, Guhle........you will see me constantly saying PLD return will not be a kings ransom but it has gotten better in the last 24 hours now that PLD is working with the Jets on a sign & trade for 8 years and is willing to extend with 5-6 teams.

Please quote or point out to me where I've said a single unrealistic thing above.

If jets don’t like those players all the power to them there welcome to pursue others I was just commenting on value

Thats not a correct statement, Jets fans are saying the report is the Jets want win now pieces and not a heavy or pure futures return. Habs have decent prospects, but reported the Jets dont want a heavy futures return.

The Jets will get a solid package but they aren't in a position to demand very specific pieces in specific positions.

Like demanding Calgary esque trade will be difficult.

Which is fair, my point being that I don’t think they want a hockey trade Ala tkachuk because In Tkachuk’s case they got the same amount of team control back from the panthers and I don’t believe the jets feel they could get the players signed whereas the flames thought they could. I think they’d want team control more then anything else. I think what I’m trying to articulate is the win now piece will be lesser value then the futures piece but will still have value

In any case I actually didn’t mean to attack you personally or in general any jets fan it was more a comment on the trade itself and what I’m seeing generally in here your actually one of my favorite jets posters to read

Here is what I think is going on.

Jets do not want to rebuild. They still have core pieces to compete. Montreal has mediocre prospects. Any of the real value is contained in players that Montreal doesn't want to trade, like Dach.

Realizing that Montreal is not offering a package that Winnipeg is remotely interested in, Dubois' camp is now reaching out to other teams. I expect part of this is to finally put a gun to Montreal's head that they either need to step up and offer something of value that Winnipeg is interested in or lose their opportunity of bringing home a top 6 francophone center.

To me, the question now is whether Hughes will finally relent and offer up a package that includes Dach. I simply do not see another valid package coming from Montreal.

Time to sh*t or get off the pot already. Chevy has grinded you down to make a call here. What's it going to be (and the question is to Montreal management who probably love the idea of having a francophone core player to market around)?

Do you understand that the management team is two guys from Boston who don’t seem to give a shit about true francophone shit anymore, this team would be top three in fan spend with someone from Argentina leading the way. You seem to mistake Bergevin and the old regime from the new regime that so far has taken quality steps
