His agent.

Sure but same as the Tkachuk trade.
It’s only the same as Tkachuk if this doesn’t drag on past July 1st. Even then, the teams interested would have to have players similar in quality to Dubois that are in a similar situation contract wise.

Like Flames/Panthers didn't? Both got very good players

Does Dvorak even have positive trade value? We all know Habs would of traded him in a heart beat if they could going into last TDL but no buyers on him so his value is very low.

Dvorak would not get negative or positive trade value. I think his cap hit fits what he brings. The reason why he is included is the Jets will need centers if both Dubois and Scheifele are traded.

Lets say you don't take back Dvorak and you take Armia or Eddy or Allen or Hoffman instead (for example). This forces you to sign a UFA this summer and who you going to sign that is better (or the same) as Dvorak and for what term? Seems to me you end up paying more in AAV and have to cough up more term... for someone who is like a Dvorak. For this reason, taking him on for two more season is a good bridge for who you add for young centers getting ready to to take on the full time center role.

Hard to know how much they value Harris. I guess we are about to find out what Dubois's trade value is. Should happen from now till draft day.

If we can get away without trading Beck, I'm down. I just am not sure
If I am The Habs it must be before draft day.

If they end up with PLD, maybe they dont take one of the forwards and go with Reinbacher

I don't know much about the player, and I'm not sure it's been discussed earlier. If Dach is that valuable to Montreal and the Jets wanted him, what would be the add from Winnipeg in your opinion?

Habs are not even interested in a Dach for Dubois+ trade. So not worth discussing. We like Dach very much and we are interested in adding Dubois with futures and a NHL contract like Horvat trade. If that is not possible, we are out.

We are interested in Dubois but not desperate.

Curious, what are the offers from other teams in this 50 pages so far? Would other fans not even offering anything indicate anything?

Does Winnipeg really have an obligation to trade him where he wants to go (Montreal apparently)?

I'm not sure if they're going to accomodate him unless Montreal offers the best package.

He’s not available. He’s part of the core Montreal is trying to build around. Teams don’t trade players like that without making it hurt more then it’s worth.

Whatever fans are offering indicates absolutely nothing about how GMs and owners feel.

Its not really about value, the premise of the trade is just a non starter. Switching PLD and Dach doesn't change the trajectory of our team at all, rebuilding teams generally prefer the younger player with potential rather than the established player with a richer contract. Thats why you're not seeing any kind of desperation from the Habs.

A lot of that depends on who the other 4 or 5 teams are and what those teams offer. Do those teams have cap space and do they have the pieces the Jets want.

I'm curious. Lets say Dubois is traded to the Habs via the Trouba trade value (20th pick and Pionk). Who are the Jets going to be upset with? The Habs/Dubois for him wanting to come home or the Jets GM for trading Laine/Rost thinking they can convince Dubois to stay? Call me crazy but I am pretty sure most GM's knew Dubois was interested in the Habs when he asked out of Columbus. Seemed like a big risk for the Jets GM to take IMO.

I'm having a hard time seeing Montreal as a fit for Winnipeg unless Dach goes the other way.

Carolina has the assets and the cap space, depending on who they decide to retain. I don't see anyone of Necas' value that the Canadiens could trade.

very rarely are young players like Dach acquired in a trade, perform well in the season following and then used as trade bait the following offseason. For the same reason we see draft picks being traded but never drafted players for at least 8 months following the draft. Just a bad look.

This has been established. We know that Dach for PLD isn't on the table because it would have been done last year. The pivot is now likely away from Montreal unless Hughes gives up what Chevy wants

Why is anyone else trading for him knowing he likes to demand trades?

No. If the Canes want to trade PLD for Necas, thats more than Montreal should be willing to offer.

The point would definitely be to add a core that includes Dach. Then again, you never know how much they like PLD. They could see it as trading Romanov and ending up with Dubois. I just don't think it makes much sense personally.

Obviously he is not an untouchable player for us. The true value of Dach is a straight swap for PLD at this point TBH given Dach's younger age and contract. But, there is no incentive for the Habs to do that deal. The Jet's who are being forced to move on from Dubois are kind of screwed here. IF....they wanted Dach in the deal, the add would have to be on the Jet's side to entice the Habs to give up Dach. That would be stupid for the Jets.

I just don't see that deal getting made. Habs (at least us HF fans) are content letting PLD head to another team if a) he will only sign for 9 mil or b) the ask is not a package that is quantity over quality.

We are content to wait and see on 2024 if he doesn't meet our expectations.

Yeah I have maintained that Winnipeg would likely be better off finding a different dance partner than montreal, even a 25 game rental would likely return more than Montreal should be willing to offer.

Jets want cap back, the cap will be for productive players not cap dumps. They are organizing hockey trade just like the Flames/Panthers did. If there was any takers on DVorak going into the TDL we all know Habs would of traded him, but there was no one interested so his value is very low and potentially negative in the eyes of GM's. Jets don't want a bunch of prospects or futures to make up the big part of the return, honestly I don't see the Habs being able to even make a competitive offer with their roster of vets/win now players. Anderson IMO is the only one who might hold positive or any ok value at this stage and his contract is terrible, specifically the term. Even Habs fans hate his term and know its going to be a problem.

PS: Its been a while, hoping the summer is going well and the smoke out there isn't too bad.
