can we get two different pld threads? one for montreal fans to offer then dvorak hoffman type packages and one for everyone else?

not if he signs with another team that trades for him..
Then good for that team that gambled even if it's clear Dubois wants to be in Montreal!

"The Dubois camp will submit a list of teams that he would have interest in signing with long-term, maybe five or six teams."

"The plan is for this to be a sign-and-trade, where the Jets sign Dubois to an eight-year contract and then trade him to his new team."

can we sticky this so montreal fans can stop claiming he isn't willing to sign long term anywhere else?

Again I'll ask the question, has anyone actually heard any other team names? And if so which teams could accomodate without major surgery by the 1st.

Example, Dubois to NYR, They'd need to gut the team and find suitors for the piece they'd need to accomodate
No but « contender » were mentioned. My (personal) guess is Colorado, Boston, Montreal, Vegas, one of the NY region teams & one of the California team (L.A?) is on his list.

Again, just guessing.
Someone is going to be disappointed in this exercise.
5 or 6 teams he will accept a trade too
salary that starts with a 9
Jets want a decent return.

The ven diagram of teams he will accept a trade to, teams that will pay him 9M and teams that will meet the Jets asking price may not have an intersection point.
He may have to lower his salary ask or expand his 5-6 team list and jets may need to accept less than what they expect. He is not Matthew Tkachuk coming off a 115pt season.

It was already hinted in the article that Montreal would probably not be a fit at 9M+. My guess is they would want a contract similar to Caufield/Suzuki.

Now that the scuttlebutt from reliable sources is that Dubois will negotiate with 5-6 teams for an 8-year sign and trade, what do you think the winning bid will be?

Dvorak, Kidney and a 2nd?

Why do you trust the insiders now? It is because it fits your agenda? Because it seems like you thought they did not know what they were talking about a month or so ago.

Now by whats PLD agent has reportedly stated he's open to extending with multi teams and not just the habs.............so thats good news. In the end I don't where he goes, Habs or any where else, just care about getting the best value we can and filling needs on the roster or futures
A sign and trade will get you the most value.
A sign and trade will get you pretty good value
No sigh and trade will get you half of what he's worth.

idk how to break this to you, but if he signs an 8 year deal with another team then he clearly doesn't want to be in montreal as much as habs fans make it seem...
I don't want Dubois on a 8 y deal, personnally. And certainly don't want to spend assets on a UFA to be if he wants to sign somewhere else.

That wasn't my question, my question was which teams could he fit with that they could accomplish without major surgery frankly I doubt think he ends up on Montreal now.

Example if we assume he wants to go to NYR to fit, they're trading assets for an upgrade on Trochek. So as the poster above me did the venn diagram. does the upgrade on Trochek, + the extra salary + the assets you'd need t give up make it worth it for them.
how did florida fit tkachuk in? if a team wants a player they will make it work

Again I'll ask the question, has anyone actually heard any other team names? And if so which teams could accomodate without major surgery by the 1st.

One of the team names floated around yesterday was actually Minnesota, which I found surprising.

In terms of speculation, how about Detroit? They can use another Top 6 C and have a ton of cap space. I still like him to Boston (provided Boston does the major surgery).

It would be fun to see Dubois playing for one of Montreal's divisional rivals. :)

I think it's still available but the risk is less for sure, whose to say the avs dont offer him comp thats a 1 yr deal that gets the jets a 1st, 3rd. Removes jets ability to trade anything him and walks him to free agency without the ability to trade him. He'll be traded by July 1 for sure
Because Brisson apparently wants to negotiate an 8-year deal, not another cheap, short-term deal. He's played the last 3 seasons on cheap deals, and he wants to cash in before taking any more risks.

To WPG: 5th overall + Dvorak

To DET: 18th overall + Jordan Harris + Riley Kidney/Owen Beck

To MTL: 9th overall + PLD

Who says no? Maybe WPG or MTL adds a pick going to Detroit

My thinking is WPG makes out very well as is with 5th + Dvorak for 18th + Grumpy PLD

Detroit drops from 9 but gets to pick back to back at 17 and 18, and they add a NHL d-man coming off a good rookie year and solid center prospect, 2 big needs. Hurts to trade away 5 for MTL but only dropping to 9 and adding a couple smaller pieces for PLD is doable

Detroit declines.

Congrats. I think that's the most well thought out trade proposal by a Habs fan in any of the PLD threads so far.

Ultimately I think the Habs and Red Wings both turn that one down unless their guy is off the board and they don't mind moving back.

But no news about willing to resign with any other team.
The article specifically says that Brisson told Chevy that Dubois would be willing to go to one of 5 or 6 teams in a sign-and-trade to get Dubois an 8-year contract.

So, that's the exact opposite of your continued theory that Dubois might sign for a year with another team.

Habs laugh and hang up.

Uhm... what did I say a month ago dissing the insiders? Are you just making stuff up or confusing me with someone else?

Frankly, the details coming out today seem very specific, and not general musing, wouldn't you agree?

Interesting concept. I think Detroit would want more than Harris and a B prospect for moving down. Maybe Beck as a prospect. Could add the #37 overall.

5 to 6 teams, let's say the 5 teams are:

MTL/NYR/Minnesota/LA/Ottawa

What if 3 of them are saying no thanks since we already have 2 solid center at a great cost? I don't think PLD will have to resubmit a new list of teams.

It might end up a 2 race team.

Congrats. I think that's the most well thought out trade proposal by a Habs fan in any of the PLD threads so far.

Essentially, as a Habs fan I would trade 5 in a deal for PLD but I wouldn't want to pick lower than 9 or 10. Basically if Winnipeg wants to do Dvorak + 5th overall + couple small pieces for PLD + 9th/10th, I'm down. They just need to find a way to get from 18 to 8-10

The sign and trade would be unlikely for MN, they would have to move both Zucc and Foligno, or one of the big NMC players, however, they could likely afford him comfortably starting the following year if the cap increase actually occurs next off season. I could see MN being involved and they would be an attractive destination for Dubois, but I also think timing wise it would be challenging, and I don't think Guerin is paying the full price without making several other large maneuvers, which would be very challenging with our cap constraints.

I think the only way Montreal trades the 5thOA is IF Michkov is still available and they shy away from him. A team further down would probably pay for that. Other then that, I think trading away the 5thOA is WAYYY off the table.
