Anderson can score 10, 15, 20 or even 25 goals for the Jets all he wants. All I want is proper compensation for the trashcan-level contracts that we are to take on, regardless of the team we trade with.

5th OA + Gallagher/Anderson for future considerations is a deal I would take. If this feels unreasonable, take a look at the number of trades involving large, long-term contracts from the past couple of years. The market isn't there.
5th oa for a second liner lol

The offer I’ve seen were usually more than fair. We’ll see what happens but even with 5-6 teams in the mix you aren’t getting a similar level/age player or a top 10 picks for sure.

Nope. They may not even get him at all. One thing that is clear in the article is they’re not going to overpay for him. They’re even wondering where he would fit in the lineup since management is very happy with Dach progression and Suzuki isn’t moving anywhere.

Apparently his contract must also start with a 9 and they’re not sure he would even fit Montreal’s cap structure. It sure pour some cold water on the PLD to Montreal rumours.

Very credible.
Agree with all your points..... The Jets will still take a hit here IMHO...but it won't be as bad as it was looking 24 hour ago

Oh, there is definitely some pluses there.
The Dubois camp will submit a list of teams that he would have interest in signing with long-term, maybe five or six teams. Of course, they will need to determine the willingness of those teams to add Dubois and his new contract before putting them on their list. The Canadiens, who reached out to the Jets as soon as their season ended, will be on that list. Cheveldayoff will then work off that list to try and negotiate the trade that helps the Jets the most.

Meanwhile, Brisson can begin talking to those teams about the parameters of a new contract. The plan is for this to be a sign-and-trade, where the Jets sign Dubois to an eight-year contract and then trade him to his new team. Dubois could not get an eight-year deal if he signed directly with that team, and the Jets can extract more value with a signed and delivered player. This is exactly what the Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers did with Matthew Tkachuk last summer.

This is very good news for the Jets.

Always seemed to me he would be getting the Horvat return

Sounds like Dach is back on the table, boys, if you want a crack at him.

Hilarious that he wants a premium to play for Montreal LMAO!

So much for the “we’ll just get him for free” crowd.
With the way they talked about how happy management was with Dach progression that is highly unlikely

Good points
PLD would be a positive on the ice for Montreal, but at 9M I'd rather stay away.

He's not bad or anything, but either him or Suzuki would play 2nd line and make 8M or more per year - both aren't superstar status

PLD seems like such a whiney little bitch. so Where do you want to play then bud?
didn't PLD request a trade from an OHL team too?

I dunno if I would want to offer this guy a long term contract. so what you sign him long term and expect to build around him then he just asks for a trade? f*** that high risk low reward

Are you surprised? I've said a million times to certain Habs posters zero chance he takes any discount to play for the Habs, he will go for max dollars.

Yea, I think 7.5-8M x 8 years is probably a realistic expectation, high end 2C.

Lol in that same article it says they like dach and don’t know how to fit Dubois with dach still on the team implying no to trading dach. Talk about selective reading

Dach is absolutely not on the table my dude.

It'll be like the Horvat trade.

Similar players, similar value.

What he asks for and what he gets won't be the same thing.......but I've said for months now expect PLD new deal assuming its long term to be in the 8-9 million range and lots of posts to prove that.

horvat was traded as a rental, pld will be traded with an 8 year contract, yes horvat ended up extending but it wasn't a guarantee that he would, horvat was also 28 where pld is only 24

But that's a bit different. Dubois actually wants MORE from Montreal than what he would ask from a contender.

That's hilarious.

I don't have a subscription. I'm relying on you guys to bring the relevant points to the forums. :)

Vancouver got the 17th OA in a deep draft. That's considered a "late 1st"?

I dunno about you... but I think there is a HUGE difference between 17 OA and 31 OA.

Horvat is 3 years older than Dubois. That is a key factor in value. Isles didn't get Horvat as a signed player, so they had to gamble that they could sign him long-term.

Horvat will be 35 years old in the final season of his 8 year contract. Dubois would be 32.

Sure sounds like karmas biting you guys after being knocked out by us and watching your team fall apart afterwards. Enjoy the rebuild
Oh the burn. Ouch. Montreal has to get invited to the playoffs in a bubble where no players wanted to be and they think they are good cause teams just want to get the season over with? It hurts so much. It will be funny when in 2033 when hab fans are still talking about that year…..is that Bruce Springsteen I hear playing in the background…..Glory Days…20 years ago…Glory Days

Jets could eliminate that scenario by team elected arbitration.

This would not allow any team to give PLD an offer sheet!

PLD agent has indicated that he will not sign an offer with Winnipeg. PLD owes 1 year of service….b4 becoming a UFA… By enacting Team elected arbitration …. They have taken back control of where PLD plays next year and will extend the window of where they trade him until late July early August. If this game of chicken goes all the way to arbitration he has to play for the jets and the new window to trade him starts after December 31 st!

PLD does not want to play 1 more season on a 1 year contract… in case he gets hurt/ plays like crap next year and tanks his value. He wants a 8 year deal that guarantees him $$$ for the rest of his life!

This will get PLD to give the Jets 10 options of where he will be willing to sign long term!

The Habs will be out in the cold / left holding the bag ( of poop)/ with no seat to sit down on when the music stops playing. (The music that stops playing will be that weenie French song that the Hab fans sing in the stands when they think they are winning)!
This guy thinks he's PLD'S agent.
Look Wings haven't a shot at getting for more than a one yr rental so get over it.
Funny how PLD was worth a fortune before everyone found out that it's true that Dubios wants and will be on the Habs team within 2 yrs at the latest.

That's not really true, I've seen 1st round pick, Owen Beck, Justin Barron, Josh Roy among the offer and it's far from getting him for free.

Yes it's not a solid offer I acknowledge that but it's as good as Trouba deal.
Trouba had a 1 team trade list, so the Jets had no leverage, they will have more leverage now. The 1st you say is Florida's and has no value now that its more then likely 31.
