Could you imagine the uproar if Ed declared he wanted out of Montreal and his desired location is Winnipeg? Us Habs fans would handle the situation with more class and a laissez-faire manner compared to how Winnipeg fans are handling the PLD drama! ;)
I don't think many of us really care that much to be honest. As long as Chevy gets something decent back, we're pretty good with it. This is not a franchise player we're talking about.

There's a 5,000 post thread on the Habs board about PLD. You're far more invested in this than we are.

Here is what we’ve learned.

« The Dubois camp will submit a list of teams that he would have interest in signing with long-term, maybe five or six teams. Of course, they will need to determine the willingness of those teams to add Dubois and his new contract before putting them on their list. The Canadiens, who reached out to the Jets as soon as their season ended, will be on that list. Cheveldayoff will then work off that list to try and negotiate the trade that helps the Jets the most. »

Im okay with him not wanting to sign and giving the Jets a list of teams that he will sign long term with who know his asking price to extend..... Get the best deal you can and move on.....At least its not this is the one place I will go even if they are not that interested....will see soon enough I guess as it looks like a sign and trade.

Contract would be signed before the deal is done so it can be 8 years. Sign and trade. That was also mentioned in the article

what? he's willing to go to more then just montreal? I am shocked I tell you... shocked... habs fans claimed they could get him for free so we would have to take what ever crap they had offered...

Oops. Looks like the Habs won't get Dubois for free, after all.

Arpon Basu is reporting that Brisson told Chevy that he'll be willing to go to 5 or 6 teams, with an 8-year sign-and-trade.

What we’re hearing on the Canadiens, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Carter Hart

Meanwhile, Brisson can begin talking to those teams about the parameters of a new contract. The plan is for this to be a sign-and-trade, where the Jets sign Dubois to an eight-year contract and then trade him to his new team. Dubois could not get an eight-year deal if he signed directly with that team, and the Jets can extract more value with a signed and delivered player. This is exactly what the Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers did with Matthew Tkachuk last summer.

This article is from Godin in the Athletic, not sure how credible this guy is...

rofl... you clearly didn't read any pld thread this past year
Literally have been active in all of them, I’ve said I’d be willing to give up the fla 1st (when it was 14th), 3rd, dumpish player and a b prospect. What I’ve rejected is the notion we need to give up one of the young players on the roster just because Winnipeg says he’s French and we should

the offers that some of the Habs fans were saying the Jets would get in return, was basically getting him for free.....
No it’s distinct people, a fanbase isn’t one group, go look at our board there is a group whose like don’t touch, a group being like if he’s a bargain and another group who would overpay

The offer I’ve seen were usually more than fair. We’ll see what happens but even with 5-6 teams in the mix you aren’t getting a similar level/age player or a top 10 picks for sure.

Nope. They may not even get him at all. One thing that is clear in the article is they’re not going to overpay for him. They’re even wondering where he would fit in the lineup since management is very happy with Dach progression and Suzuki isn’t moving anywhere.

Apparently his contract must also start with a 9 and they’re not sure he would even fit Montreal’s cap structure. It sure pour some cold water on the PLD to Montreal rumours.

Very credible.

That's not really true, I've seen 1st round pick, Owen Beck, Justin Barron, Josh Roy among the offer and it's far from getting him for free.

Yes it's not a solid offer I acknowledge that but it's as good as Trouba deal.

As a Toronto fan, he would add a new dimension to the team and we have the benefit of being in the East, presumably where Winnipeg would want to send him but unsure what Winnipeg would want.

I'd have to assume Knies or an extended Nylander.

I would assume Knies+, Nylander likely wants to extend in a big market. He would look great on the Leafs though IMO
