Montreal would be stupid to pay for PLD. They can just wait a year and get him for free. The only scenario where I can see Montreal trading for him is if Armia+Hoffman is dumped in that trade. With a 1st + A-prospect ofc.
I see it more likely that PLD would be a 1yr rental for teams like Avs, Blues, Devils or Canes.

I doubt it’s 100% just Montreal for him

If I wear him I'd pull a Tkachuk and go to a low tax, good weather team with a chance to win. I can't even imagine the pressure and fishbowl in Montreal for a French-Canadian player especially.
