That would be a dirty, dirty move.
nothing dirty about it, montreal lost kk to get only a late 1st and a 3rd ,than had to pay that 1st and a 2nd for dvorak. besides the jets should know that an offer sheet can happen, yes kk took more on the 1 year deal and less on the extended contract, montreal can low ball him with the offer sheet than balance the money out over the following 8 year deal, front loaded to use the cap space now and have more space later on, no need to hesitate HuGo, either get pld for cheap or offer sheet on july 1st, if pld is traded elsewhere, no worries next july will arrive soon enough.

PLD Returns:

Junoguy: Dvorak + FLA 1st + Mesar + low-level prospect
Guffman: Swayman and Lysell
BatVader: Newhook + 1st + ’25 4th

MTL has the best food out of all the NA cities, some of the best bars (3 am), the hands down best micro scene in america (potentially the world?), great sports, etc.

You've clearly never been to NYC if you think Montreal has better food outside of Poutine.

We need a thread that has only PLD best guess deals. No debates about it. Just post what you think the return is. Then we re-visit once the deal is done. Here's mine:

PLD to Montreal for

Dvorak + FLA 1st + Mesar + obscure prospect. PLD signed to 7 year 7.5M AAV.
PLD to Colorado for
Newhook + 1st + ’25 4th

PLD Returns:

Junoguy: Dvorak + FLA 1st + Mesar + low-level prospect
Guffman: Swayman and Lysell
BatVader: Newhook + 1st + ’25 4th

HF folks add your proposal to the list with your name. Winner gets all the glory.

Anyone else think this guy is a bum? Will never forget how he quit on CBJ with "the shift" and now won't sign a 1 year deal to demand a trade? Seems too entitled for a 60 point player.
When he’s on, he can be dominant. But he takes shifts off, and he takes games off. He doesn’t have the heart or the desire to be a true force in the league. I really don’t know what motivates the guy to be honest.

Honestly and again I think the best fit for him is Ottawa. Close enough to his home and not as much pressure and scrutiny as it would be in Montreal.

The media and scrutiny with Dubois just wouldn’t be a good fit in Montreal IMO. I think a long term deal there would come back to haunt the Habs.

"Montreal is a place, A city he'd like to play in. That's all I can say about that."
...not "THEEE city....."
One word totally changes the meaning of that sentence. It's not a foregone conclusion that he's going anywhere specific, which is why I will laugh my ass off if/when he signs long-term outside of Montreal.

- Aaron Portzline, beat writer from Columbus said that it was already known in 2020 that PLD wanted to play in Montreal

- Friedman - 95% chance PLD ends up in Montreal

What would Jets fans think of a Debrincat swap?

I'd rather DeBrincat walk in 1yr than pay Dubois whatever he's "worth".

I also doubt he would re-sign in Ottawa. He seems destined for a "better" city for his assumed lifestyle.

Yep, i have lived in Montreal and its a phenomenal cosmopolitan city. I have lived in NYC and Miami as well and loved those cities as well. The nightlife in Montreal is off the charts. Which can be a problem for hockey players. (Galchenyuk...)

You don't hear too many people raving about the Winnipeg night life. I think they still have Tinkertown though. Toddlers have a good life in Wpg. ;)

If you'd take the train at Tinkertown you'd be a lot less dismissive of the place.

Top 10 is just a nice way of saying closer to 10th than 1st.

Anyone who thinks the nightlife is "insane" in Montreal, has either never been to bigger better cities, or is too young to drink in the USA.
Obviously u know nothing about Montreal if u think the nightlife here sucks our city is horrible for alot of things but we for sure are among the best for clubs and restaurants old port MTL has some of the nicest places ive seen and im born in Toronto and been to NYC a million times cant speak for Chicago never been

Why would it make sense for Dubois to accept a low ball offer sheet only for Winnipeg to match? That guarantees that Dubois can’t be traded for a whole year.

Like seriously... why the F would Dubois want to play in Winnipeg for a below market contract?

This is the third time I’ve read this incredibly stupid concept. A shame some of you can’t actually think it through before spluttering this nonsense on the forums.
if pld tells the jets that he will go to montreal on july 1st and sign a cheap 1 year deal, it forces the jets to make a deal otherwise he leaves in 1 more year and the jets get nothing, also no tampering if it is done by pld approaching the habs, besides the jets have known for a long time now that pld wants out of the peg, this type of tactic helps to get it done, what would the jets gain by keeping a player for 1 more year that they can not trade if they are in a offer sheet situation. what is stupid about a concept that gets something done? the reality is the jets have lost leverage by not acting last season.

I’ve said all along, and will continue to stand by it, this would be my offer from a Habs standpoint.

To Winnipeg:
2023 1st (Acquired from Florida)
Choice of Barron or Harris
Christian Dvorak (cap purposes)

To Montreal:
Dubois - signed to a 7.85 x 8 year extension.

Given the current situation, I think it’s fair and similar to the Horvat return.
no to giving up barron, the florida pick is generous considering leverage that the jets are losing everyday.

Well, he wont sign an image offer sheet, and he wont sign the qo. Hope he likes to play golf :D

Winnipeg saying they don’t want to rebuild, what about a deal with Vancouver?

Much better producer in Miller but older by 5 years.

What about,

To Vancouver: PLD

To Winnipeg: Miller, Hoglander, Toronto 3rd.

I’m guessing Winnipeg fans won’t like this, but keep in mind your own GM said there isn’t going to be a rebuild. Miller is a PPG player under long term contract. Hogz is a stud and had a great year in the AHL.

Canucks get a core appropriate aged player who’s a traditional big Center. Slots in perfectly as the 2C behind EP40.
