Winnipeg will need people to skate anyway and he has only two years left anyway on that contract
Dvorak is currently an overpaid player, but he's not a bad player
And he must be part of the trade
Plus, Dvorak doesn't like to party. He's a very serious dude. Winnipeg would be perfect for him. lol

Thank you. By adding the word 'agent' to my Google I found: Agent: Dubois wants to play for Canadiens
I mean... it came from the horses mouth. Then PLD tried to walk it back with the lamest of excuses like "I didn't ask for a trade. I'm still here". Then a year later he asks for a trade. lol

PLD will be public enemy #1 in Winnipeg. GMs will be very wary of him with his history. He must really want to play in Montreal to be such a dick.

I’ve said all along, and will continue to stand by it, this would be my offer from a Habs standpoint.

To Winnipeg:
2023 1st (Acquired from Florida)
Choice of Barron or Harris
Christian Dvorak (cap purposes)

To Montreal:
Dubois - signed to a 7.85 x 8 year extension.

Given the current situation, I think it’s fair and similar to the Horvat return.

Change Dvorak to Hoffman, add Beck, and its a deal
FLA 1st, Barron, Beck, Hoffman for PLD extended

A bunch of nothing for Dubois?

Sounds about right

A late 1st, a 2nd, Beck and Dvorak isn't nothing. There are a lot of Habs fans telling me it's far too much.

Have fans of any other teams offered more? None of us are GM's we're trying to make deals between fanbases for fun.

I also think before the Habs make any offer for Dubois they should check in with Brisson about his contract ask.

I’d go about it better than he has…but I’d also tell the team that drafted me (or any team I was moved to) that I will never sign anything beyond my RFA years. I’d do whatever they wanted until I earned my ufa status…but theyd be well aware from before the draft that I’m signing with my hometown Sabres the moment I’m allowed to. It’s not personal…and I have to wait seven NHL seasons. Do what you want with my contract before then but I’m just telling the next team the same thing.

what I wouldn’t do is refuse to sign for the last rfa year. I’d tell them I’m signing my QO as soon as I get it…but they’d have known that for the last six years already.

I am not opposed to taking back Dvorak but let’s be clear… he doesn’t add value to the trade package coming back to Winnipeg.

How bout we reduce the offer (remove Barron and Beck) and the Habs trade for PLD as a rental! ;) lol

It should be apples to apples with other team offers.

1st + Newhook vs

1st + Beck/Mesar + Hoffman (cuz inexplicably you love the Hoff).

"Montreal is a place, A city he'd like to play in. That's all I can say about that."
...not "THEEE city....."
One word totally changes the meaning of that sentence. It's not a foregone conclusion that he's going anywhere specific, which is why I will laugh my ass off if/when he signs long-term outside of Montreal.

My approach is to try and come up with a deal that comes very close to the final transaction. Anyone who proposes one-sided deals simply shows their lack of hockey acumen.

There will be bills to be paid when this deal goes through! I am looking forward to it. :)

That's mine too.

I think the framework I put forward from the Habs is close. Do you have a rough package from the Habs you want to predict?

If a deal happens, i think it will be:

Dvorak + 1st (Fla) + Beck/Mesar.

or

1st + Newhook + sweetener

What's your guess? (go ahead and propose Dach. When its all said and done we will re-visit).

Sure, swapping Hoffman for Dvorak is no issue, but I wouldn’t add Beck. I think Beck is going to be a terrific professional (lord knows I’ve been wrong before), and I see him as a second line center or elite third line guy who can play in all situations.

Which is why I won’t accept Dvorak… I don’t see Chevy accepting him with all the bottom 6 C depth we have… Dvorak holds zero value to WPG

But you’re not getting just PLD, now you’re getting PLD for 9 years… that increases the value of the trade return for WPG.
Beck would be desirable for all the reasons you stated as WPG will be rebuilding next year and a young C who projects that way would be a great fit

We need a thread that has only PLD best guess deals. No debates about it. Just post what you think the return is. Then we re-visit once the deal is done. Here's mine:

PLD to Montreal for

Dvorak + FLA 1st + Mesar + random low value prospect. PLD signed to 7 year 7.5M AAV.

Habs end up regretting it.

I was never bullish on trading Dubois to Montreal. Any deal I would propose wouldn’t make sense for both teams.

My pitch was trading him to Boston for Swayman and Lysell.
