Dude gives off f***boy vibes to me. I don't think it's necessarily Montreal or nothing for him, but I think he wants to play somewhere more exciting to live like California, NY etc...

Source? I googled and saw a million rumours of him being traded to Montreal, but nowhere did I see insider reports that PLD actually wants to stay in MTL. Not saying its untrue, but asking for a legitimate source.
It's all over the Habs threads my man you got some research cut out for you 🤓

If you were a 24 year old multi-millionaire bachelor, wouldn't you want to live in a more cosmopolitan environment? Why would you wanna live in Columbus, Winnipeg, Ottawa....

Is he selfish? Yes. He's human.

There’s no way Montreal passes on one of the very few Francophone young stars; they will pay whatever is necessary
I don’t see it.

Habs are in a rebuild and the new management are smarter than that.

He'd easily be a top 3 player on the Habs for years to come. Montreal doesn't have the luxury to pass on him if he wants to join them. Their top 6 is below average and they don't have any elite prospect in their pipeline.

A big centerman from Quebec that is only 24 and dreams of playing for his home team? They should absolutely trade for him. If the price is right.
The habs are rebuilding, who cares who they have in the top 6 right now. They’re not competing soon, anyway. They’ll take the time to develop their own young players.

I’d take a flyer on him NEXT season as a UFA for 2, MAXIMUM 3 years, if the price is right.
I personally feel his attitude is a turn off and could affect the locker room.

Have you been to Montreal?

I've been to most notable NHL cities, and I can absolutely understand wanting to live somewhere like LA, Toronto, Chicago, NYC, etc... But Montreal isn't even close to those cities for nightlife unless you're 18. Lol

I'm not surprised he wants out of Winnipeg though.

8.7m for 55 pts…yup…real good
Way to leave out the part where he played in 55 games and was a *52 pt player. He's got 129 pts in 156 games playing on what has been essentially a lottery team for the past three years and not only that he's fully committed to the team unlike the whiny little brat that's now forcing his way off like 4th or 5th team in the last decade.

If he can stay healthy he's worth the money, especially when you factor the project 4M increase in the cap next season.

Edit: he's actually producing at a slightly higher rate in Columbus than in WPG on a much worse team. And he's out producing PLD since the trade... On a much worse team.

Another player, prospect, pick…NOT DVORAK
Doubt there’s a roster player that would interest you. I’d do one of our B prospect or an early 3rd rounder.

I’m confident we can find a buyer for Edmundson and Dvorak elsewhere for a positive return.

Yep, i have lived in Montreal and its a phenomenal cosmopolitan city. I have lived in NYC and Miami as well and loved those cities as well. The nightlife in Montreal is off the charts. Which can be a problem for hockey players. (Galchenyuk...)

You don't hear too many people raving about the Winnipeg night life. I think they still have Tinkertown though. Toddlers have a good life in Wpg. ;)

He’s from just north of Montreal… that might have something to do with it

It's built in to the foundational value of the league itself. Players should not only expect not to play where they wish for an early portion of their careers, they should actually embrace it considering its built to maximize product value league wide in an effort to generate the revenue that all benefit from accordingly.
No one in soccer or the NBA would ever say this.

Montreal should not trade significant assets for him, and whenever he is a free agent their offer should top out around $4-5m. If he wants to be there that bad then fine, but if he wants anything close to market value they should stay away.

Not that I disagree with your premise but a deal less than 5 Mil is insulting. Just don't bother offering a contract.

Montreal has wild night life bro. Rue St Catherine.

That was in response to someone who offered Barron, Beck, FLA 1st, Hoffman, and Dvorak for PLD and I responded we’ll take Barron, Beck, FLA 1st, and Hoffman, and you can keep Dvorak and trade him elsewhere

Why would you want Hoffman? No one wants the Hoff.

offer PLD an offer sheet where the compensation is only a 2nd or 3rd round pic, than offer pld a front loaded deal with the following extension.
this way the jets match the offersheet and lose him for nothing next summer, because with the offersheet contract the player can not be traded for 1 full calander year which brings pld into ufa status.
no need to pay what the jets want, get him cheap or wait 1 more year, sorry winnipeg should have dealt him last year when your team had leverage.

Why would it make sense for Dubois to accept a low ball offer sheet only for Winnipeg to match? That guarantees that Dubois can’t be traded for a whole year.

Like seriously... why the F would Dubois want to play in Winnipeg for a below market contract?

This is the third time I’ve read this incredibly stupid concept. A shame some of you can’t actually think it through before spluttering this nonsense on the forums.
