I think Barron + Beck/Kidney + Florida 1st is fair for Dubois some fans might want more but Winnipeg will never get full value for someone who asked out every team hes been part off

Andrew Copp, as a rental, returned a 1st (31OA Lambert), a second (55OA Salomonsson) and Morgan Barron. The 1st are a wash. I'd value Kidney a little higher than Barron (Kidney has more upside but also more risk) and I'd value Barron more than the 55OA (but I like Salomonsson more than Barron)

In terms of the players the Jets ended up with, the Copp trade yielded better returns, but some of that is the Jets making strong selections at 30OA and 55OA. Overall I'd say this offer is a little more than what Andew Copp returned as a rental at the deadline, but not vastly more. But, we are talking about a player who is a lot better than Copp and we are talking about a trade and sign not a deadline rental.

Not sure if the Jets will have interest in those pieces bc they are all prospects and magic beans when its reported they want win now pieces.

Not trying to nitpick but just to clarify, I think Barron can contribute on your D squad next year if he's ever included.

He's played a decent amount of AHL and NHL games now and paced pretty well production wise for such a young D.

I could see him slipping into that 2nd pair RD and QBing one of the PP units next year on the Jets.

Habs should offer Caufield. Only hit 43 points in a season. Cap hits would be about the same as PLD new contract. Caufield is small & will probably miss considerable time with injures. Makes the team much better.

Then turn around & get a deal on someone like DeBrincat to fill the hole.
I think that the Caps would be more interested in Byfield who's got 32pts in 93 NHL game compared to Caufield who hit 36 pts in 46 games.
Habs will keep Caufield.

Of course he will return more than Horvat. Not only is he younger than Horvat he's also much better than Horvat. In the case of Trouba the Rangers gave up a first round pick and a 22 year old who was their #1 D-man the previous year, and that's with only a single market in play.

What you seem to think is that PLD will return something similar to Andrew Copp as a rental, which obviously ridiculous.

I don't want Dach, IMO he's a bust but I don't discount the possibility the Jets feel the same way. Guhle struggled even more last year (42.0 xGF%) than Pionk did (44.7 xGF%) before he was included in the Trouba trade. He is a bit younger though so, value wise he's probably in the same range Pionk was at the time of the Trouba trade.

Jets fans are ridiculing Habs fans because they clearly have no clue about the player they are discussing. We've had the deal with more than one who don't even know what position PLD plays, and others who think someone like Horvat is actually a compatible. (Hint, at best Horvat is comparable offensively, but when you look at their ability to drive play I'd even argue that isn't true. Other than that Horvat is a soft with a weak defensive game while PLD is is one of the leagues best agitators, plays a physical game and has a strong 200 foot game.)

Dubois is not "much better" than Horvat. Disagree. You're entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts. They are similar talent IMO. It's close one way or another and trying to create a gap is reaching. Horvat is at 0.67 pts/game and Dubois is at 0.70 pts/game. Wow, what a gap in value eh?

No, Exaggerating it to Copp as a rental is false. What actual offer are your comparing it too? You know by not referencing an actual offer, your created a spin narrative with lack of context which is disingenuous. You're just rambling on with no actual context in many areas. There have been 10-20 different types of trade package offers with all different values and you are the type that thinks they are all the same. Very disingenuous

So, you don't want Dach and you think we are over valuing Guhle. Pionk was traded after his age 23 season and you compare him to Guhle at age 20/21 in his 1st NHL season. Horrible comparison and you know it. The Pionk vs Guhle comparison proves to me you have no idea what you are talking about. If you had Guhle in your system, you would value him like we do and I'm sure of it. And Habs fans would probably respect it (believe it or not). At least lots of Habs fans would but hey, you think we all have the same opinion.

First you say Dubois is much better than Horvat and then you compare Guhle's age 20/21 season to Pionk's age 23 season.. Maybe you are the guilty one within the Jets fan base who makes them look bad just like you are trying to do to the Habs with your "Habs fans" narrative. How about you say SOME Habs fans. Because you know, both fan bases has ignorant or gullible ones.

Try harder. You're reply lacks context and therefore, holds little value. You didn't even break down what the Kings would offer if Byfield, Clarke, and Vilardi are off the table. All I see is Habs hate and the proof is there.

Honestly I'd do that, Mailloux or Barron.

I don't want to trade either but I'd be willing to give to get.
I think trading Mailloux would be a huge mistake.

if I was a habs fans I would leave some possibility that he is willing to go to another team...
I don't give a shit where he goes. If i were a Jet fan i would lower my demands on a player who is going to leave no mater what the Jets and their fans think or do.

Oh I'm not saying he couldn't, what I'm saying is 46 games over two years on a horrible team who doesn't care much about team defense at this stage of their rebuild is a bad measuring stick to determine if he's NHL ready or not on a team who is trying to be competitive. He could also turn into a bust which is my point which he is not proven and not sure the Jets really have much interest in any unproven or magic bean being a center piece in a trade.

To be clear, I like Barron, he's one of the prospects the Habs have I actually like a fair bit......but no one should take offence by someone saying he's not proven, this doesn't mean he won't become a top 4 D just thats he's not that now and reportedly thats what the Jets want is proven or win now pieces. Not sure if they would consider him that, likely a bit of a stretch.

Yes I think Beck + 31 + 37 + Ylonen is a very valuable package

“Tons of risks” lmao It automatically becomes 4 of your 5 best under 27 pieces and maybe even your 5 most valuable since Pefertti is really struggling both offensively and defensively and could very well flop
I would chance that.

Beck and Mesar are still junior players bud with no guarantee they pan out what so ever. Those other guys on the list that you conveniently left a major detail off of? They’re already nhl/pro players, which if you bothered to pay attention at all is what Winnipeg is asking for. Whether they’re good or not is debatable but that’s for a different discussion.

Reading is hard :sarcasm:
Turcotte and Spence at 22 years old have a combined 10 NHL games this season. JAD at 23 looks to be on pace to be a 4th liner (at least statistically). Lizotte is a 5”07 version of Dvorak. The only piece out there you mentioned that could potential make sense is 29 years old Iafallo.

Please tell us more about how those pieces would be a good fit for Winnipeg and how they aren’t worst than the “laughing stock” Montreal is offering in Dvorak, Anderson and Harris offers. I can’t wait to hear the argument on how they going to help you compete next year.

trouba would only go to 1 team, horvat was traded as a rental

I thought Trouba would only go to one team too but several Jets fans said that was not accurate. Hard to know the truth eh? Seems like fans are saying what they want to say to benefit their narratives. Seems like the Jets fan base has difference of opinions like the Habs do. Wow, who would have thought.

Horvat was a rental and Dubois would be for a full season but he also restricted his list of teams to 5 or 6.

I could be wrong but I think the trade will end up close to the Trouba and Horvat trades. Something not exact but close. We will see.

Yah....Habs never do this lol

Barron and Beck are no go.

Horvat was traded for a 1st B prospect and cap dump. PLD value is the same.

FLA 1st in 2023 or CGY 1st top 15 protected
Mysak/Kapanen/Harris/ any prospect not named Hutson Beck Kidney Mailloux Barron
Cap dump (Dvorak is the same as Beau)

Is going to be the best package Habs put forward for a 60pt 2nd line C who'll be asking for 8+
First off i don't consider Barron a prospect.
So i'm quite fine with
FLA 1st in 2023
any prospect not named Hutson ,Mailloux
Dvorak or Hoffman.
Hell i'd even offer another prospect of their choosing.
For a signed 8 yr 8mil at the most Dubois.
Want more leave the Habs out of it.

Its possible, but like its speculated its unlikely they can move up in the draft, especially such a good draft.
There's a good chance that Smith will be there at 5

Even if the Jets don’t get either/neither of Byfield or Clarke in a trade (not expecting to) the potential return from LA is still better than the (lack of) return Montreal would offer and you can’t argue that even after 5-6 threads :thumbu:

Context? You didn't list who you think you will get if Byfield, Clarke, and Vilardi are off the table. If you can't do that, you are just rambeling on.

What actual offer do you think you are getting from the Kings? Prove your theory or opinion with context?

Lol I never said anything about competing. Maybe in managements wildest dreams but our fans know reality unlike yours lol. The core is being retooled, we still need professional level players to come in and ice a team that can play at the NHL level, of which neither Beck or Mesar are going to be capable of playing in the next 1-3 seasons like management wants. Beck and Mesar will not be playing AHL hockey until 24/25 and even then what will the development time be transitioning to pro hockey? The AHL is much higher level hockey than OHL in case you didn’t notice.

Maybe they turn out to be valuable, certainly not PLD valuable, but who knows. The Jets managed to make Pionk and Morgan Barron into some decent NHLers from their returns in those trades :thumbu:

Can’t wait for your next terrible straw man argument lol.
