LeBrun: Dubois wants out of Winnipeg, will not sign a contract for next season

As i said on HFJets.. if he were willing to stay, I'd be happy with an 8 year contract with an AAV that starts with an 8

I don't think he'll get 9

Having watched him the past few years, he brings a dimension to the game that goes beyond the points he puts up. Maybe a team with a smaller skilled forward group wants a bigger guy with some bit and is willing to pay

I'm starting to wonder how much Habs fans have actually watched PLD play

Go look up the PLD threads from last offseason.

You'll see a lot of "PLD is listed as a winger. Why do you think he is a top 6 C?"

Some Habs fans. Don't group us all into one opinion. It's not a hard thing to adjust too.

I agree Dubois falls in the $8M - $9M range. Hintz, Horvat, Larkin just got awarded deals in that range recently. That's where Dubois falls.

You better hope he is not after $9M - $9.5M range. That might really screw over your trade return because teams might just say nah, never mind (including the Habs).

SOME Habs fans every time a report comes out that PLD is willing to end up elsewhere

Funny, I was looking for that meme for Jets fans, on every hint that PLD wants out of the Peg for his home town team...

Even that 9M$ AAV thing smells like being thrown out to devalue him towards other possibly interested teams...

My guess is he will sign for 8M$ with the Habs...

Such a narrow minded view to attempt to make a point.

Teams aren’t getting these guys for free. What are you on?
No one says free. Vilardi and Kaliyev tier players would be a great get for Winnipeg. You think Kings or Montreal will pay Slafkovsky, Byfield or Clarke for Dubois?

So

Dvorak = Tatar in Vegas
Florida 1st > Vegas 2nd
Kidney or Beck < Suzuki
Add avs 2nd next year

And call it a day
Might as well replace 2nd with Mailloux.

Dvorak, 1st, Kidney and Mailloux. That is pretty much bang on to the value of both Pacioretty trade and PLD potential trade.

Our fan base is full of fans who do that. Just like your fan base. This is why grouping fans is stupid but it keeps on happening for some reason. Not saying you are doing it but a lot of fans are.

I for one think Dubois is just as good as Suzuki. One fan said that we can't pay him more than Suzuki because it would be an insult. Tried to explain the RFA/UFA narrative (4/4 vs 1/7) and he still didn't understand.

Is that supposed to be a proof that he will be happy to sign with other teams ?
Brisson is an agent who works for his client, PLD, not for the Jets.
If you were an agent and your client wants to play for his home team, would you work your ass off to accomodate the team or work towards your client's aspirations ?

I mean, this seems like an act of courtesy. "Sure, we will provide a list of 6 teams you can look and try to come to something. But you know he wants to play with MTL..."
if I was a habs fans I would leave some possibility that he is willing to go to another team...

Love it when a poster proves the point of my post in a reply to my post

Trouba was a one team list

Horvat had no extension talks prior to the trade
Keep telling yourself that Lou didnt talk contract with Horvat before the trade...

I don't know about other Habs fans. For myself, it's good if we can get Dubois. It's fine too if he went to other team like LA because I don't want the Habs to get into a bidding war. We will overpay to get Dubois service and then we overpay Dubois with his contract.

Even Friedman said 95% to Montreal. That's where I am at. I leave some possibility, but not much. 5%.

If I was a Jets fan, I would leave some possibility that something around FLA1st, Beck/Barron gets it done...

he said 95% chance weeks ago, things can change...

What cause it wasn't made public?

You can be damn sure it happened.

Barron seems to be liked by the Jets. I would do Beck + Barron, even if we do need our RHDs.

Seems like Boqvist might be available to patch the RHD until Mailloux comes along...

I was more around the 60-80% and I have not changed recently. So still 20-40% he don't come.

Did he retract or something ?
Did they change, things ?
I can only see they changed in a way that's not helping the Jets at all...
I think the news coming out that he is willing to sign with 5-6 teams might change peoples minds about it him only wanting to play in montreal but habs fans just want to ignore everything that says it's not just montreal.. you point to a report weeks ago by friedman when all lebrun dreger and johnston have all stated they believe that there is more then just montreal

Barron would be logical due to being NHL ready which is what I think the Jets are after. If we do both Barron and Beck, I'd have Armia or Dvorak and Hoffman (with 50% retention on Hoffman included). If we are going to give them the youth they want, the NHL contracts are part of the discussion even more. Jets may not like that but it's business.

The other angle to this is what are the Jets plans at center for next year if both Dubois and Scheifele are traded? Not much talk about that part but I'm sure Chevy will have that part of his strategy

If we are including one of them I'm not okay with Beck anymore but I'd do the following but I'd draw the line at it.

Barron/Mailloux
Florida's 1st
Kidney
Dvorak

Fair. Not sure the Jets like it but I think it's fair (for what's that is worth lol).

If they don't take Dvorak as the NHL contract and both Dubois and Scheifele are traded, what are the Jets plans at center for next season?

Any news on the Jets allowing all 5 or 6 teams to talk to Brisson about what the 8 year deal would be? Or are the Jets only allowing them to talk after they have an agreed trade?

my best guess it would be chevy talking to the teams he would extend with about the framework of a trade then once agreed upon they would allow for extension talks with the team

But he is not willing to stay.

The team you are describing sounds like Montreal, and the fact that you can't name a single other team that fits your description only validates my point.

The Jets are not going to get a better return from another team than they will get from Montreal.

I may regret this but what do you think mtl offers?
