LOL I wonder if he is including your take on TyBo :) I'll agree there are some outrageous posts but we can't paint everybody with the same brush :)
Mine, or maybe yours, or anybody here's opinions on Kadri, Gardiner, Burke, Nonis, JFJ, Kessel, Phaneuf, Sundin, I could go on and on.... there are some pretty ridiculous takes. There are some gems on here. In general though, HF is pretty terrible at hockeying.

For the record, my stance on TyBo is the ONLY one. ;)

We are at a crossroads and he has some holes to fill. He has a month to prepare. Also let's see if he he can do what Lou was not able to do and find us a dman or two that can play in his own end.
My point being... he's been preparing for a long time already... He's basically been eased into the job, with supervision.... I agree with everything you are saying... just that this isn't new, and that he is already prepared.

You don't know this for a fact. For all we know, Dubas is the one with the final say on all decisions going forward.
so with his hire we've gone from a consensus approach many were saying here to Dubas making all the decisions ?

better for his fan club to to believe it's still a mgmt by consensus approach , that way they can blame any mistake on someone else

I know this is a joke, but I fully expect Hunter to still have the majority say in who we're drafting.

I think/hope the main things we'll see change are trade/FA targets.
If the Leafs don't already have a priority list of players they are drafting in May, we have serious problems.
It could probably be handed to us and we just go down the list at this point.

Hunter will have the main say in who the Leafs are drafting.
Babcock will have the main say in who the Leafs are dressing and playing on Leafs roster.
Shanahan will have the main say in all big trades, UFA signings and new player contracts, hirings, firings and also buyouts etc.

Dubas as GM will have the smallest role in the management team and often deferring to others above and around him to direct him as needed. Dubas is well insulated and can continue to grow into the role of full GM with the authority over time.

Kyle is a great team player, smart and well spoken and works well with Shanny, Hunter and Babcock so its the perfect fit for the Leafs organization at this time. He is more of a prospect GM at present that still needs more development time and experience before he will be handed the reins of general manger fully.

This is not surprising in the least, and he is more a figure head in the position than having the authority of most GMs in the league.

Shanny is really calling all the shots in the Shann-a-Plan and Dubas simple his right hand man sitting in the GM chair and doing the day to day stuff.

Dubas doesn't have full autonomy to do many things without adult supervision or approval first. Many outside GMs that were interested would never take this job based on the limitations that would come with it.

YOu owe me a coffee now, and quite possibly a laptop LOL

I understand why people are nervous but really it's part of the human condition to fear change and the unknown.
For some Dubas is both; change and unknown/unproven
He deserves the chance and support. Like you said, he has to prove it but we need to let him prove it. Burke had my support and then lost it.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want him to fail or not prove it. We sink along with it.

Not a big fan of the pick, but I generally don't pitch fits. Given the position the franchise is in, I would rather have more experience at the helm.

We'll see pretty quickly, just how ready he is. A tonne of heavy lifting to do in the near future.

Not happy with this, especially if it’s going to cost us Hunter.

I just don’t think he’s ready, no rhyme or reason to the feeling, but it’s there.

I think other GMs are thinking they are going to school him and I very much wanted Lou doing our Big 3’s contracts.

I will be more than happy to eat my words but not a good feeling.

Have you seen the young players the Bruins have in their line-up? They must have a pretty good scouting staff over there.
McAvoy, Debrusk, Carlo, Pastrnak, Heinen, Grzelcyk ...
Leafs can always poach!

Have to explain something here about ageism. It has nothing to do with age.

There are progressive people of all ages, and shockingly to some there are regressive people of all ages. Being young does not mean you're progressive.

Being a Silent, Boomer, Gen X, Gen Y(Millennial), Gen Z has nothing to do with attitude or personality.
A significant portion of the Dubas hate is most definitely out of ageism, and that's a relationship that is most definitely being experienced out in the real world between X/Ys and Boomers.

But yeah I definitely agree that you shouldn't judge qualifications based on age, there's morons and geniuses in each generation, it's when people use Dubas' age as a negative it comes off so weak.

I think Hunter will be announced as the Asst GM, head of scouting shortly, Director of Player Personnel, and will provide that, I played Hockey, eye test to the team. He should provide a great Ying, to Dubas Yang... should be a formidable team together.

I liked this move. I think the most important quality in the new GM is ability to work with the cap. We need to sign the right people to to right dollar amount and I think Dubas is a good fit to do that.

Exactly! It's like some are fans of their own opinion and not the team :dunno:
Also for those following the Marlies I think it's easier to get behind Dubas as we have seen what he has done there balancing development and winning. Also for the ones who bothered to actually see what his responsibilities were with the leafs, being the head of 3 or 4 major departments in the organization, we can see he's already put his stamp on the team we love and that have been trending so well

Now announcing, Mark Hunter as A. GM and head of scouting! Yes he was already in those positions but let's announce it again!

And here we go...

Can’t wait to have every little move scrutinized
and i can't wait for any mistake he may make to be spun and blamed on someone else

also considering how much he liked to talk before LL muzzled him i can't wait to see the Burke interpreters come out of retirement and constantly explain what he really meant by the non sense he said

anyway he's been set up very well so i don't to hear any excuses

Does this mean we're drafting Ryan Merkley?

Why? Hunter hasn’t quit yet. He is in charge of drafts and is also agm can’t see Dubas taking somenhis role away. This organization hasn’t shown they will make desperation moves that kid will be drafted by a desperate organization with shallow prospect pool and probably 2 1sts. Rangers or Blackhawks maybe? Massive head case I hope we stay far far away

I don't like this move but I'm willing to reserve judgement until we see him do some work. I think there's potential for Dubas to have good relationships with our players because of his age. He can be more of that older brother as opposed to father figure. So there could be more transparency.

Many fans are going to like Dubas, because he can’t evaluate talent using the eye test. He needs charts, just like most fans on here.He has never played the game at a high level, just like most fans on here. Pretty sad times.

True true. You want to make sure to hire the Waddell's, Lowe's, MacTavish's etc. etc. etc.

What would you ever want with a guy who as a GM (the role he's been hired for) took a 24-36 team to a league leading 54-12 team and then moved up a level and ran a team to a 150-63-11-4 record (also lead their league).

Nope nope nope. Hire Wayne Gretzky. That'll work. Derp derp derp.
