Yes, he would have to earn trust as well .Once upon a time Scotty Bowman had no track record as well
Lol what possible reason would have to think this is a "yikes" scenario?
Good choice.
"Babcock won't want to take orders from Dubas."
Gotta love all the hilarious hot takes the past week.
It's not like there is any real homework to be done either. He's basically been on the job, and training for three years. This is a transition, that he will be at full speed on.
Anyone we brought in would have to earn my trust though.Yes, he would have to earn trust as well .
LOL, truer words were never spoken on these boards.
so he's also a better coach than Babs ?If Babcock is still stuck in the dumb Boomers mentality that someone younger can't be better than you/deserving of respect, he's got to go.

Burke came in with a winning record and I had high hopes for him too but he burned my trust when he traded untrotected 1st round picks
Does this mean we're drafting Ryan Merkley?
This is not surprising in the least, and he is more a figure head in the position than having the authority of most GMs in the league.
Shanny is really calling all the shots in the Shann-a-Plan and Dubas simple his right hand man sitting in the GM chair and doing the day to day stuff.
Dubas doesn't have full autonomy to do many things without adult supervision or approval first. Many outside GMs that were interested would never take this job based on the limitations that would come with it.
Bullshit he has no track record. A. GM experience & Awesome OHL GM results.Just my initial reaction - as others have said, no track record and quite young. Not that that's a death blow but I thought for sure Dubas would get another year or two before transitioning to solo GM. I'm excited to see what he brings.
I understand why people are nervous but really it's part of the human condition to fear change and the unknown.Exactly
and how many cups has Yzerman won as a GM?When one divisional foe has Steve Yzerman as their GM, and you have Kyle Dubas.. guess what? You aren’t going to win.
If Babcock is still stuck in the dumb Boomers mentality that someone younger can't be better than you/deserving of respect, he's got to go.
And here we go...
Can’t wait to have every little move scrutinized
Leafs new GM is going to be good. WHY? Brendan Shanahan has his hands all over this team. NO crazy trades/signings will happen. This team will progress slowly and stay on the path that they are on. Leafs were dead last 3 years ago and this year they broke the wins record and points record for a single season. The 5 year rebuild is still on. Lets wait and see what this team looks like in year 5.
