so i love hunter but what has he done? matthews was easy, liljegren falling was a joke. he picked Marner. wasnt the rumor Dubas loved Barzal? u guys dont want Barzal????

bye hunter. go flex your financial muscles cheating in the ohl
Rumor was he liked Provorov. Anything involving Barzal to us is revisionist history.

For sure, things end it’s life. Shanny decided changing now instead of when we are a legit contender and Lou is closer to 80 is for the best. In doing so he may lose a head scout so he hires a new one who may be better, may be worse or may be the same
We are a contender now. To say otherwise is funny coming off a fantastic season.

I'd specifically target Nashville scouts. Whoever's been responsible for that factory of defensive stars should be brought into the Leafs organization ASAP.

agreed.
and one would argue had we hired Fenton, it would be easier to get one of those guys. ah well.

Ok but Lou’s contract expired this off season so to move on without “firing” lou would have to be done know, and I think up until now we haven’t got passed the 1st round right? If we gave Lou a 2 year contract dubas would be gone most likely for a start but we would need a gm when we are a conference finalist team (fingers crossed) with the natural progression

Two others wanted Prov the flyers D man. Hunter was the only one who wanted Marner if you remember we had a trade arranged that Hunter talked them out of.

Dismissing the Marner pick is funny as all around that pick were land mines. Hunter put his reputation on the line with that pick and the kid is a super star and a franchise player.

I’m not dimsissing the Marner pick, but I’m not going to give a scout credit for picking a player 1/2 the users on HFBoards could have chosen in the top 5. Top 10 picks on the first round should be home runs for any above average scout.

What will determine if Hunter is worth his reputation is if he can get NHLers from rounds 2-7. And the jury is still out, but I’m rooting that he’s successful.

I like Hunter just fine, but I’d like to see more evidence if his scouting prowess before I worry about him leaving.

If you want evidence listen to anyone connected to the game and how highly they speak of him. There is no evidence required, unless you have your head up your ass? He’s a great addition to any organization.

So we should go by reputation accumulated outside the league, and ignoring the actual performance? And doing otherwise is having your head up your ass?

Makes sense. Hunter is so good that even if his picks don't actually translate, his scouting is still flawless.

Hard to call it.

Org thinks highly.

The most experienced lead of any department is the coach now. But there are a plethora of others that have influence.
