It’s like you don’t watch the games and only look at his points. I’m sure you don’t look at his plus/minus.

I don't think he's been great either. What I object to, is you thinking we should ignore his salary when setting expectations. We can pin hopes and aspirations to him based on his potential, but expectations are more formal and should be linked to salary, in a cap world.

He's looked on par for a 5 million dollar guy.

Welp. He had two good games. Back to the drawing board…he is going to cost them a goal here

it actually is XD

Which goal did Batherson cost the team tonight?
Careless . Dumb on the 2-0. Dumb toe drag. Team persevered , but they don’t covert that 2-0 , not even getting a shot, and if the Ducks make it 2-1 , it will be those plays that continue to bite this team

Batherson is better when he plays a much more aggressive game & hits more. But he has some of the best hands on this team & vision to make some great plays & passes.

Chemistry finally starting to form in that second line, it’s awesome to see.
Agreed. People forget that, regardless of salary, Batherson was Ottawa’s best player last year until his injury. He was Ottawa’s actual All-Star selection. Obviously, when you see what he can be, this year, is disappointing.

He has to be better in all three zones and now with Stutzle out, we still have enough star quality to preservere.

The other thing is that Cat has self described as a guy who doesn’t like big changes, and has talked about how surprising and challenging this move was. It’s not really a surprise that he’s gripping the stick, and finding it hard to pot goals to start the season/second chapter of his NHL career.

He’s starting to look really dangerous every shift, and now the pucks are starting to go in. Look like both him and Bath are starting to get comfortable, overcoming very different outside pressures, that can equally have an effect on their mental game.

The guys are smiling and clicking, and you’re right, Bath is playing more engaged and physical in the other zones too.

It will be a challenge with Stu out, but if these two are coming on at the same time it should help mitigate that loss. We have Brass, Pinto, Kastelic, Gambrel who are all Center men, and on that top line, G and Brady take a ton of draws regardless. Big hole but we have the bodies at centre. Be interesting to see who the winger will be.

Some of the dumb things Batherson was doing it felt like he was trying really hard to pretend everything was normal and that he did not have pressure on him from the investigation. So he doubled down on stupid fancy dekes, and stupid fancy passes.

Good to see he is getting away from whatever kind of hockey that was.

How could anyone have doubted him? I don't get it - and I'm not trying to start anything, I legit don't get how anyone could have doubted the level of talent he has or that he'd get back to form.

Next step for him is to learn about the ebbs and flows and get out of the slumps quicker.

Because he is the type of player who, if he isn't scoring, isn't doing much of anything else to help the team.

Agreed, but he's still young in this league. He needs to learn to adapt when he's being checked like he's 'the man'. Hopefully he can relax a bit more now and learn for next slump.

It isn’t so much as doubting as much as being very critical of the player
