I would say they are not the normI'm generally for a coaching change but the argument against it is examples of teams that stuck it out and found success, so for example, many were calling for Ruff to be fired after a slow start this year, now NJD are arguably the best team in the league, people were calling for Cooper to be fired after TBay got swept in the first round, they went up to win back to back cups, there are a number of examples over the years and I guess some worry DJ could be the next since he's always had a bit of a flawed roster to work with.
I suspect if Lindy had a poor start like Smith he would have been on the hot seat. If DJ had a hot start people would be on his side to stay for sure. At this point we are near the bottom and a coaching change could definitely bump the team up which has been shown to work in the past
Whatever reason people have or what people say I think its pretty sensible to want to try a different coach with what we have seen with coaching changes previously
