Duchene + Barrie for drai +?

Both Duchene and Barrie can walk for nothing way too soon for comfort and - no disrespect intended - I'm not sure trading for key pieces from the worst team in the league is a good idea.

Not to mention Duchene and Barrie is way more cap than just Drai would be.

Gally+ Patches is more than fair

Addresses no need for us. Think of both clubs. Would you trade Galchenyuk for a RD? No, cause you have Weber and Petry and that would be terrible asset management. We're not paying Lucic 6 million per to play behind Patches and Maroon.

Ottawa would offer Turris and Ceci... maybe a 1st as well if need be.

It would need be. Plus. Again, Turris is a pending free agent. Can walk for nothing in a year and even if he doesn't we're right back to square one cap wise.

I don't like Ceci at all either.

Kyle Turris + Logan Brown?

but from my understanding there is no way he is moved...is there more news out of Edmonton to suggest otherwise?

Seguin wouldn't work, but if the cap crunch is on the other guys are possibilities. All depends on how much Drai signs for.

If Draisaitl wants more then 8 million . Would there be a team willing to make a trade for him . The ask would be a lessor 1 C coming back plus .

Example

MacKinnon
Seguin . Probably a big fat no from Dallas and I only used him as an example
Duchene ++ base on contract and his down year it would need to be nice pieces added

Montreal . Don't have the pieces so don't offer Plekanic +++ . We are not taking a cap dump .

Looking for long term solutions

Let me add I doubt he gets moved . Just bore and it is a long time until the season gets going

Draisatl is the real deal. You either need to accept that and lock him up now for many years or bridge him and pay him lots more in a couple years. You could have a situation in Edmonton approaching what they've had in Pittsburgh for over a decade. That isn't something you mess around with. Keep those two and fill in the wings and elsewhere as needed.

If the Kings are out of it by the deadline, something around Jeff Carter?

Oilers can actually afford to bridge Draisaitl.. if they give him the full term they will have the same situation in 8 yrs... McDavid negotiations while Drai taking back seat... 4 year bridge deal staggers the 2 big contracts and keeps AAV low for Drai short term..

4 yrs x 7M and then 10M x 8yrs = 108M over 12yrs

Comes to 9M per x 12 yrs

Give him 8.5x8 now and thats 68M til he is 30... doubt the Oilers would want to give him another 8yr deal afterwards considering they have McD already.

Bridge deal works for both parties and gets Draisait welll over 100M

He's one year away from free agency?

You said he has next to no value to Edmonton, unless hes a rental.

so him on a signed contract would hold no/less value than if he were just a rental?

to my next point..what if he comes signed.

As a rental he'd be able to be landed for a lot less than Drai, therefore he'd have more value to us.

Depends on the contract, and I don't really see the need for Turris when we already have RNH. Nuge is the guy that moves long term. I think other teams would need the jaws of life to get Drai out of edmonton; Turris + doesn't start the convo, signed or not.

I dont know how you could definitively say either one of these guys is worth more than the other.

True, but I'd keep the guy with the history of playoff success. You never know how a player will perform until they are there. Scheifele is a wild card

I like Staal for about half of the trade value. Bid add from Carolina after that.

Don't like kopitar 10m contract. Drai could be had for less...and 21 vs 29 year old.

Seguin 21 pts in 49 playoff games.
I would not trade Draisaitl for 3 Seguins

What about McDavid's 9 points in 13 games for $12.5M/year?

It's a concern...something to watch.
It happens again next year it's a trend. 3 yrs in a row and it's might get into McDavids head. Good to keep Draisaitl around in case.
Hopefully Mcdavid is more Gretzky Messier than he is Jean Ratelle, Hawerchuk, Seguin
