Is Chicago actually going to be semi decent.

People gift wrapping more for them because of Bedard.

They're doing exactly what they should be doing: burning it down and collecting long term assets while filling out the roster with short term vets so they don't have to rush their youth.

5 Picks in the top 120 combined from 2023-2025.

Anyone we would like to take with the 5th and 6th round pick?

I'd take a shot at an overager here if there's a good one. The Leafs have done well with their late round picks in the last few years to find value.

But really... not sure anyone around here will have sort of idea how the draft will look a few hours from now.

Leafs Home Board
draft smaft

They're gonna sign a bunch of free agents with all their capspace.

j/k

They're going to ride their 11 core players into the ground.
Even during the Cliff Fletcher years of "Draft Shmaft days of old" the Leafs never made these few picks.

'Draft Shmaft': Fletcher Builds His Own Way

While Fletcher was GM of the Leafs, he gave up twenty-two draft picks, and acquired twenty-one. He gave up future considerations five times, while only receiving them back three times. The amount of first and second-round draft picks Fletch gave up and acquired is a wash, as he gave up and received five first round picks, while giving up and receiving three second round picks in his tenure.

Draft Shmaft version 2.0

Between 2021 (only 3 selections) thru 2023 current (only scheduled for 3 picks) the Leafs will only make 11 of an original 21 potential selections (3 drafts X 7 picks)

Leafs are just above 50% participation rate which ranks them 32nd overall in draft picks made.

Leafs don't need no stinkin draft picks!

Free agency is where the action is.

I wonder if Tre is feeling confident enough about UFA D shopping to pre-emtively clear space by trading Brodie for pick(s).

Well no... That's what we'd call an exaggeration. The Leafs have 9 forwards and 6 D signed to NHL contracts for next season. They don't need 10 players.

They have roster UFA's and Samsonov is an RFA they quite literally do need 10 players
