I wonder what the asking price for Askarov is

From us? Probably Knies, or as part of a package for a re-signed Nylander, or maybe for Marner.

I think that's probably it. Don't see Niemela+ or any other prospect of ours getting it done, and then on the NHL roster we frankly have very little of value beyond the Core Four, Rielly, and Knies.

I think we are going to see a couple moves today, right now they have a 5th and 6th rounder I have a VERY hard time believing it stays that way, even if it means like swaping our 3rd next year for one this year.

I think the Leafs do nothing today and pick at their spots.

Their full efforts and concentrations are on the players that need new contracts.

People are upset with this pick lmao. If you wanna feel better go check out the Habs board, absolute meltdown. They still aren't over taking Slaf #1 last year, now passing up on these many great forwards at #5, big L

Yeah, they were absolutely losing their cookies over there last night.

If Cowan hits his ceiling your looking at another Chandler Stephenson. So I can see the appeal of the pick now. The ultimate ceiling is a Brayden Point but Stephenson seems a lot more likely.

I've had a feeling that we'll see a move.

For some reason I can see Jarnkrok or Lafferty traded today.

Rightfully so, they have no game-breaking talent and they had a chance to get one.

It's bizarre, because the Canadiens teams of old had their share of skilled Russian players. You wouldn't think they'd shy away from drafting one with the reported upside of Michkov.

Only saw 2 Knights games this year but my buddy who watches them daily is high on him .. big downside is he is small and his family is small so he may not be able to play his game at NHL level at 180 lbs .. he plays like Killer he goes deep into trouble virtually every shift and he will make more trouble ie no worries giving a guy butt end to chops .. he relies on quick feet to get himself out of trouble .. again who knows if his game will translate to nhl .. but he is a bit of a hot head and suspensions are likely ie he will need protection

Overall he will play top line on Knights next year so his point total will go way up .. he is already a high IQ player so he won't need much time in minors at all .. you could see him on Leafs in 2 years .. we needed a bit of an *hole on our team but most of you will call it compete .. bottom line he may get hurt at NHL level playing his game as he is small .. hard to tell .. kinda like MItch with fast feet and great lateral edge skater so not a blow bye you skater .. i like da risky bet but who knows .. there were more options at pick to get a bigger faster player .. my buddy says if he was 6ft3 he would have gone top 5 as his hockey IQ and edge to play dirty are excellent

I think moving Jarnkrok would be a mistake. Any time you have a guy show chemistry while playing up un the lineup you're getting better value from him. I see him playing with Matthews this year allowing lines 2 and 3 to be stronger and so the team is stronger.

They finally have a solid mid-line forward signed to a 2M contract that can score 20 goals, he moves up and down the line and performs. He'd be last on my list of players traded unless the return is significantly too good to refuse.

It would likely be a mistake in our current state. We have to stop bleeding quality.

If you want to make changes, start with the players 1 year away from UFA. I am so f***ing tired just letting players walk for nothing. And then maybe hope you can flip average prospects into value.

Nice. Fairly bold prediction. Jarnkrok is always a question mark to me. Not your ultimate competitor in a grind it out playoff situation. He scored a goal and 2 assists in 11 playoff games. Career 22 points in 86 playoff games. I'm not saying he's brutal, but he's a very average to below average NHLer.
