I'm not entirely sold that Kreider alone would net the 8th overall in this situation...especially considering Kreider could test free agency. I'm thinking we might have to add a little sweetener, especially since we'd be getting a blue-chip prospect. Kreider and Pionk (which I would gladly do) for the 8th is my guess. Pionk would be an interesting add for the Oilers, considering their D situation isn't exactly great.
No you're definitely not getting the 8th for Kreider alone unless they are throwing in one of their cap hits. It would likely be the 20th going the other way as well and something like their 2nd coming back.

S0me thoughts:

1. I would expect a lot of movement in the final ranking. Not sure if I think the mid-season was that great TBH. We will see.

2. The Kakko vs Hughes polling will be exciting to check out. It can't be unanimous in favor of Hughes anymore. In fact, wouldn't be shocked if Kakko overtakes Hughes. Its a tough decision, but its not the guys McKs polling that have to make it (unless anyone of them are taking part of it, think we are, but the majority isn't at least). If they want to stir the pot a bit, its not like its hard to make an argument in favor of Kakko.

3. My bet on biggest riser is Ty Rees. Would love to see him get into the 1st round. Will also be interesting to see where Newhook goes. I just think that 20 is way to low, sure I could be wrong, but from my POV its a bad grade for scouting organizations if he hasn't leaped up into the top 10 at least.

4. I also think that Kaedan Korzcak should be higher on the lists, 37th at mid-season.

5. I think Broberg will be a little higher than many have him.

6. Boldest prediction of them all: Karl Henriksson in the top 31!!! I don't believe in that myself, that the scouts would poll him that high, but I think he deserves it for sure.

For a prospect you like that much, you really love calling him by the incorrect name, don't you? His name is Jameison Rees.

I do agree that we'll see Broberg and Korczak higher than some expect. Broberg has a tantalizing skill package from the backend, and I could see a team being aggressive to move up and snag him. Korczak is a big Saskatoon kid that's played really well for a good defensive development program in Kelowna. I don't think the offense will ever be there for him as a pro, but as we've seen him with the U18 teams, he's always one of their best defensive dmen. That will be his bread and butter, and he should get by well as a new-age modern defensive dman.

Will be interesting to see what Bobby Mac puts out. Usually somewhere between 25-28 guys ranked in the first end up being drafted in the 1st.

I'm also expecting Knight to be a lock to go before the 20th overall pick.

Nils Hoglander is another guy that can jump up there.
