Assuming they are available, this is the order I'd put them in:

1. Dorofeyev
2. Höglander
3. Brink
4. Puistola
5. Broberg
6. Heinola
7. Seider
8. Tomasino
9. M. Robertson
10. Björnfot

And yes, I prefer a forward at 20

Of that list I'd have it:

1. Seider
2. Brink
3. Broberg
4. Tomasino
5. Dorofeyev
6. Heinola
7. Hoglander
8. M. Robertson
9. Puistola
10. Bjornfot

No Lavoie, No Kayliev, no rent

In the most recent The Athletic mock they have us taking Lavoie...

20. New York Rangers (from Jets)

Raphael Lavoie, RW, Halifax-QMJHL
The Rangers, who traded away a big, skilled center in Kevin Hayes to get this pick (and Brendan Lemieux), select a similarly sized Lavoie (almost 6-foot-4, 196 pounds). With Kakko taken earlier in the first round and last year’s first-rounder Vitali Kravtsov set to arrive in the NHL, and very likely an addition (or two) in free agency, the Rangers’ forward list has quickly filled up. But having selected six defensemen in the draft in 2018, the Rangers are replenishing up front, and you can never have enough scoring. Lavoie, a right-handed shot, scored 32 goals and 72 points in 62 games for Halifax in the QMJHL this season, and a remarkable 20 goals, 32 points in 23 playoff games. – Carpinello
Pronman: Adding a top scoring talent at No. 20 will be important for the Rangers, who don’t have a ton of high-end skill types in their system right now outside Kakko and Vitali Kravtsov. Lavoie brings skill, speed and goal-scoring ability to the table in a big frame.

FYI they have Newhook going at 19, Seider at 21, Brink at 22 and Tomasino at 23. Personally I'd rather we go for a C or D with this pick, assuming we don't obtain an additional higher pick.

at 20, if avail, I'd want:

Seider
Heinola
York
Dorofeyev
Poulin
Hoglander
Vlasic
Johnson

if we can trade up to 16, I'd also hope one of these guys is there:
Newhook
Soderstrom
(could Podkolzin fall to here???? - probs not)

looking at it in reverse...who is projected to go in the first round that you'd be livid if we took at #20? Knight? Lavoie?

lets get a list of players to root to be picked in the top 19 cause it means a player we like got pushed down

Funny thing is, I'd be LESS livid about taking Knight at 20, than I was about taking Lindbom at 39. (But yeah, if he's by far the best player there at 2o, we should be looking to trade back with a team that needs a goalie.)

In terms of other names, I'm not sold on Lavoie or Kaliyev. I can say for certain there are 20 other players (including Knight, just based on value) :) I'd rather have there.

Not being a doctor, but if he has had surgery on his Achilles that does not sound like a partial tear. Which makes it a pretty big deal. At least to me.
The reports so far (while also saying the picture will be clearer next week) have all said he’ll be ready for training camp.

In doing a quick search about partial Achilles tears they take anywhere from a few weeks to 4 months to recover from and surgery for partial tears is very common

I think it's 99% sure Seider is gone before 20. He's arguably the 2nd or 3rd best D-man in the draft and I don't see the draft shaking out in a way where the first 19 picks end up being 17 forwards

I'm curious to see if Broberg or Seider go first. They are both high upside guys with some risk. Of course, a York or Soderstom could always go somewhere in there, but I find those two guys pretty intriguing.

if you are picking 8-10 then its a huge deal...but if he falls to the point that we've got a shot then its probably worth the risk

I'd be happy with Hoglander. I thought he was great at the 4 nations in August. In my mind, he and Kravtsov were the best players there. Hoglander was a waterbug in the offensive zone. Really good short area quickness and a big time motor. Was regularly the first guy to the puck, then great at using his hands and short area quickness / edgework to create space or beat defenseman and had the hockey sense / skill to create a ton of scoring chances when he got some separation. I actually expected him to produce more the SHL, but I guess it makes sense when you account for the fact that he was on a pretty low scoring team.

I think the comparison between Hoglander and Fagemo is interesting. Fagemo is 9 months and scored at just over twice the rate with great peripheral stats although he was in a much more favorable situation, playing on the second highest scoring team in the SHL on the same line as the highest scoring player in the SHL. I guess I'd prefer Hoglander, but I don't think the gap between Hoglander and Fagemo is big.

Trade up from #20. The Rangers have two 2nd's to play with.
