I think you’re severely underrating Tomasino. He had a slow start to the year, but from November forward, he was an absolute beast. Even on a good team, he was still a primary driver at 5v5 and racked up most of his points there. Once he gets a bigger role next year, you’ll see his scoring skyrocket.

He’s smaller and will end up a RW, but he has a lot of similar traits to Point at that age. Same type of edgework and speed that’s really strong, but with some refinement can be top-class. Great hands and vision, and when he wants to shoot it, he has a deceptive wrist shot that packs a lot of speed and accuracy. He’s also really aggressive in his pursuit of the puck, and has the tools to round out an above average-to-strong defensive game.

You know I’m a bit biased towards the USHL, OHL, and WHL, but I genuinely think he should be in your top-3. Idk much about Hoglander, and I’ve scouted Doro vicariously through you

Good to know that I at least have some fans here hahahaha.

Regarding Tomasino: I like him, I just feel the ones I rank higher have higher ceilings and I feel the Rangers should swing for the fences. Go all out. Boom or bust.

Assuming they are available, this is the order I'd put them in:

1. Dorofeyev
2. Höglander
3. Brink
4. Puistola
5. Broberg
6. Heinola
7. Seider
8. Tomasino
9. M. Robertson
10. Björnfot

And yes, I prefer a forward at 20

I'd prefer a forward too...but if all the centers are gone and those players are left, I'm taking Seider. Also move broberg up the list just for the hashtag lol. but hoglander is probably top 5 of the guys I think might still be there so definitely wouldn't hate the pick

And that’s where we disagree- I think you’re selling his ceiling a bit short. But by all means, I trust your opinions on Doro/Nils at 20. Any of those 3 kids add more to the speed/skill element our farm has been missing since forever. I’d recommend catching more of Tomasino if you get a chance because I think he’ll change your mind.

On a side note, Suzuki is the one I really have trouble gauging accurately. There are some really great flashes there, but he lacks that extra something that his brother has. He’s the one who I’d peg as a “safe” pick at 20. He’s well rounded enough to have a floor as an NHL role player, maybe like a Max Talbot.

If his contract wasn't 2 more years in Russia he's most likely a top 5 pick, he was consensus 3rd pick most of the year. His skillset is not a tweener's skillset. He has enormous potential.
He was ranked consensus 3 OA for most of the season. He is dropping like a rock. I don't think it's just the 2 year KHL commitment that is hurting his stock. The skills may all be there, but the production isn't. Something doesn't add up. I think Pronman mentioned in March or February that he would be a prototypical pick for the type of player the Rangers want. If he ends up a Ranger I hope I eat crow and he is the second coming of Kovalev but with a nose for the net and an internal shift clock.

The consensus on his shortcomings at this point seem to be:

1 - He has a bit of tunnel vision - doesn't use his linemates as well as he should
2 - He telegraphs his shots and passes a little too much

If he can fix those issues, you basically have Rick Nash with the chippiness of Scott Hartnell - that's a hell of a player to have.

Here’s what Pronman wrote about Nils:

I haven’t seen any Euro prospects, but he sounds very similar to a Robby Fabbri. The SHL production is a bonus too.

Guys left on the board that we’d like are Heinola, Brink, Pelletier, and Suzuki (maybe not him, I can’t remember). Seider, Tomasino, and the others were selected already in his mock.

If Podkolzin slips toward 10, he's probably the top target I'd want (I couldn't imagine another highly regarded player like Cozens or Zegras also slipping in such a scenario). And yeah, I would be willing to trade up for him.

Wouldn't be surprised if Podkolzin is still there at pick 20.
