Look at it this way. Although it's not ideal to trade within the conference, much less the division, we have a lot of depth in our defensive pipeline. We may be able to move some D (if Voynov and Sekera come back) to obtain a player like Eberle to energize our offense.

If Voynov gets through his case, we will definitely move him...but I think his value goes way down and the injury doesn't help either. Hopefully we can sign Sekera. That dude is a stud.

The Oilers will now have a Top-6 that will consist of 4 first OAs. If Draisatl improves and Eberle is somehow moved or goes through a slump, they will add a 3rd overall and a 4th overall (Pouliot) to that top-6.

The Oilers are going to have the most explosively glorious cap problems soon.

Don't forget the Oilers have Darnell Nurse coming soon, too. Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov, Draisatl, Nurse and now McDavid. If they can get both competent coaching and management, who knows?

I am so happy. We get to see McJesus 3 or 4 times a year at Staples, and on TV for another 3 or 4. This is awesome! And in this deep draft year, 2 of the top 3 picks will be out West! It's gonna be fun to watch. :handclap:

There should be a rule where you can't get the #1 pick that many times in such a short span.

I don't really get why. It's only happened a couple times. Quebec did it, and then traded all three 1st overall picks before they won the Cup. None of which happened until they lucked with Roy. Then we have the Oilers now, who have been one of the most ineptly run organizations in, at least, recent history.

Look at Pittsburgh too. Crosby and Malkin, they have 1 Cup.

I mean, it is ridiculous that the Oilers have yet another 1st overall pick, but as we've seen, that alone doesn't win them anything. Most teams get better over time, even without the 1st overall pick.

The reason they have those guys is because they don't have competent coaching and management

I'll just leave this here:

Yah, the sad part about the Oilers is they are actually trying to win while getting all these draft picks. Still no defense and no goaltending, their top 6 can be all #1 overall draft picks, when nobody can prevent the puck from going in the net there will be blood.

Let's take a step back and let's ask ourselves, even with the best prospect since Crosby, how many years is it going to take for the Oilers to make the Playoffs?

Let's not forget that the reigning Stanley Cup champs finished outside of the Top 8. THAT'S how hard it is to get into the Playoffs in the West.

I truly hate the ****ing Oilers. How a trash organization keeps getting rewarded is mind blowing. I wanted to see the #1 and #2 go to Carolina or the Coyotes.

How long is McDavid stuck in that hell hole? I assume he'll bounce first chance he gets.

I don't want to see them win though. Don't want to see Doan, Hanzal, and Smith rewarded for being punks.
