It's a freakin sad day cant believe we're talking draft lottery etc and not the playoffs! Yeah, yeah I know guys may be tired, played a lot of hockey the past 3 years etc still not over it yet. It'll sink in soon enough.

LoL this simulator.

Ran it 100 times. Buffalo first time, Kings second.

Kings won it 5 times in the 100 times I clicked it. 3 of those times came in the first 15 runs.

You're telling me there's a chance......

I hadn't been paying attention at all to how the new lotto works. I'm just amazed that the worst team in the league only has a 20% (or is it 25%) chance at the 1st overall. Really undercuts the whole "tanking" thing. Only a crazy person would throw away a whole season for a 20% chance at any player, even one that's a possible 'generational.'

I took it to another level.:naughty:

Oh I see. Smart.

When DL did the deal for Sekera, he protected it for this season, "just in case."

At the time, I thought it was an unnecessary move, but I guess that is why DL is the best GM in the league...got to have that insurance, "just in case." If the Kings land the long-shot for McDavid, dude is gonna look like an absolute genius. They will all forget about the Richards non-buyout.

I wish this was made public. We could do some crazy GDT with **** like this

It's 20% and for any other season, I would say you are right. But Buffalo, who has now clinched the number 1 slot, is assured at getting at least Jack Eichel, because of the ****ing stupid rule this season that the biggest loser cannot fall below the no. 2 pick.

So that rule in and of itself guaranteed that tanking would take place, and after Buffalo made a mini-run in December, their owner took no chances at the trade deadline: getting rid of Neuwirth and Myers in particular.

What I think they should do is live announce the numbers, one at a time, very slowly.

For example, there are I think six balls that get selected, and those six produce the winning number. Each team is assigned X number of possible combinations based on their per cent chance of winning the lottery (we'd get two per cent of the numbers right now for example).

So the NHL can conduct its lottery, however instead of taking out all six balls at once, they can take one out at a time. Each time they take a ball out, whatever TV network(s) is/are covering the draft can cut to Bill Daly, who can hold up the ball and say the number.

At that point, the number gets assigned to the slot it was picked for (first ball to the first number, second to the second, etc.) and the network can delete any combinations that don't fit. For example, if a one is selected on the first ball, any combination that doesn't start with a one is deleted.

Basically you'd see teams chances of winning the draft lottery changing after each ball is announced, and networks can take 5-10 minutes between each ball selection to talk about whatever they want, show clips of McDavid, and of course sell ads, which would be a huge money grab in Canada for sure.

Eventually by the end of the hour, all six balls are announced, and we have a winner.

Just imagine the drama if after three or four balls a lower percentage team was still in the hunt? Or if someone like Buffalo seen the odds of winning dropping drastically? A lot more exciting than watching Bill Daly open gigantic cards on TSN.

152 for me. No words.

Ron for Asst. GM. Already showed more commitment to the Kings than Blake.

Frankly I think tanking is more prevalent now than ever (from upper management, not players) for a variety of reasons. I'd be fine with everyone going into the lottery, with equal odds. **** the bottom teams, you don't need to draft in the top five to have a good team or a winning team, ask Detroit. Heck, even ask San Jose, a decade straight in the playoffs and if they had a decent GM with a sack they'd likely have won a cup.

Look at it this way. The Kings' probability of winning the draft lottery is higher than any of us winning the Mega Millions Lotto or being struck by lightning.

Think CBGB has already purchased a McDavid Kings jersey to match his Stamkos Kings jersey?

That joke will never get old. :D
