Dach is my number 1 priority if we finish in the 5-9 range again. But we are gonna be having wet dreams of winning the lottery leading up to the end of the season because Hughes and Kakko are absolute units.
still watching the russian dorofeyev produce and continue to show those high end skills. and that skating is intoxicating.
he a points machine and a quiet riser. not alot of buzz but those in the know have eyes on him.
gonna be a guy who will shoot up as we go though the year.
Dach is a kid with a lot of upside, but one who also didn't wow me last season.
Maybe I went in expecting a little more, but there were a lot of more areas that were works in progress than I expected --- his skating, shooting, positioning, etc.
So to start the season, I have him ranked a little below a few other guys, but definitely in the top 10 conversation. If he progresses and those various components come together a little more, he's definitely a kid who could climb the rankings.
I'll be interested to see how both Dach and Cozens perform throughout the year. Heading in, Cozens would probably be ahead on most lists. But you potentially have 3 WHL kids (along with Byram) who could reasonably challenge for the second pick in the draft.
Additionally, because of the nature of the top of this draft, any of them could also have a great season and still be there at 7 or even 10.

Still asking myself if he’s really a C or better suited at LWI wouldn't count out Krebs either.

Which is why I’m leaning towards him being a LWI think he's a center. I don't know if he has elite skill or size, but I think he's going to be one of those 1B type of centers.
Wouldn’t shock me to see him fall as far as Tarasenko/Kuznetsov, maybe even a little later if he spends the whole season in the MHLPodkolzin said in an interview that he has little desire to come over to NA until he's a man, and doesn't want to play in the AHL
Gotta think that hurts his stock a bit
Kinda similar to Buch, although I doubt Podkolzin drops that much

Do you think the team will shoot for more NHL ready prospects in trades?I think the Rangers, at the very least, will have two firsts and two seconds in this draft.
If Tampa actually wins a cup, I could see a scenario where it's 3 firsts.

If Hayes and Zucc are moved, I would assume each would bring back a 1st in whatever package they get moved for
But I could see a scenario where they push for more proven prospects instead

I definitely agree, if they just end up having their first and a like #26-31 first and he’s sitting there at 20 I wouldn’t even mind trading up to get himYeah
I'm a bit hesitant to take him with our first pick, if it could take like 3 years for him to hit NA ice, but if he's still available in the later part of the first round where the Rangers will almost assuredly have another pick or two, I'm taking him and not thinking twice
Doing some research today and should note the following for this draft class....
- Already noted above, but Cozens, Suzuki and Dach have had blazing hot starts this year in the WHL
- Kakko, Honka and Kokkonen have been putting up points and playing well. Think they solidified their roster spots for the year
- Newhook is dominating the BCHL
- Nikkanen is splitting time, ATM, bewteen Jr. A and Liiga. Also, doesn't look bad to start.
- Cajkovic has had a strong start in the QMJHL since coming over from Europe
- Holmstrom has an UBI and is sidelined until early to mid October
- Broberg made AIK and is playing is Allsvenskan
- Podkolzin looks like the next Malkin out in the MHL
- Hughes, C. Caufield, Boldy and York are above PPG with the USNTDP, as of today. Turcotte just at PPG
- Knight, although two games in, has a 1.97 GPA and a .944 SV%.
- Couple of other goalies with good starts are Dustin Wolf (WHL), Boston Bilous (WHL), Nolan Maier (WHL), Hunter Jones (OHL), and Hugo Alnefelt (SuperElit)
- Loving the SSD (Spiridonov-Sheshin-Dorofeyev) line with Stalnye Lisy in the MHL. Dorofeyev is above PPG, Spiridonov is almost at PPG and Sheshin isn't far behind, either.
Will post some video later![]()
Yes rent him to Tampa to make sure they win that cup - win win situation for us also related to our conditional pick in 2019 draft.
There are about 5 teams who can win the cup now Sharks, Leafs, Pens, Caps, and Tampa are among my favorite teams to win it this year, but question is if they can create cap space for such a rent move. Maybe leafs with the best rent option since they have some cap available even if they should sign W Nylander. But there are other teams like Jets, Oilers, or Vegas who can surprise me, and Vegas did exactly that last season.
