Has anyone heard anything about Edmonton or Buffalo actually trading down or is this all speculation so far?

I see things going similar to this... thinking Turcotte is the most likely to drop although I'd prefer it be Zegras (favorite option) or Dach. I can't see it being Cozens. I doubt Dach as well bc even though the game has changed teams still love big centers.

1. Devils - Hughes
2. Rangers - Kakko
3. Blackhawks - Cozens
4. Avalanche - Dach
5. Kings - Podkolzin
6. Wings - Byram
7. Sabres - Zegras
8. Our best shot - Turcotte...

I guess the biggest hope is that another defenseman slides in somewhere here prior to 8 which is probably most likely if Byram were to wind up going 3-4.

I'm guessing Turcotte goes last after some injury concerns and maybe he doesn't have the time to hit his top gear in the U18s.

Podkolzin is interesting as well... if he drops past Chicago and LA then who feels 100% comfortable that he'll come over? Ducks at 9 (maybe), Philly at 11, Florida at 13? I don't see Edmonton, Buffalo, or even Vancouver (although more likely than the other two) taking the plunge

Like I said, that’s fine by me.

Gimme Kakko at 2, Zegras at 8 and Newhook in the 30s.

Please and thank you.

Probably overly optimistic but Newhook in the late 20s or later is the exact type of Chris Davis home run swing that this team will be able to afford to make - especially if they pull off a 2nd top ten pick.

Looking at the PO games so far, its obvious that speedy, hard-working depth guys are really effective out there.

Its not surprising to see guys like especially Ty Dellandrea but also Liam Foudy, Jay O'Brian and the likes go pretty high in the draft, while someone like Serron Noel is 2/3 of a round behind them...

Who fits that mold in this year's draft? 6'0-6'1, speedy hard working winger with quality?

let alex newhook drop. right into our lap.

not paying much attention to those on here that question his work away from the puck. thats a non issue kids a diligent worker with or without the puck. his production speaks for its self as does his being the team captain at 17 yrs of age. never mind league MVP and scoring leader at 17.

the quality of competition stuff is more nothing as is his not making the national team which we all know is a numbers/popularity contest more than anything else. lack of media buzz and attention cost him big time.

like a few here have said, if he played for the london nights, he would be a top 10 LOCK. period.

KAKKO > NEWHOOK > TOBIAS BJORNFOT

thats my first day

Arizona is unquestionably the team to watch. They need scoring and do not have as much money to throw around as you might think. The Coyotes had a $65MM budget this year but have several big contracts kicking in next year. Right now, they have about $66MM committed to 16 roster players for 2019-20. Kreider is probably their best chance to add a scorer at a price they can digest. Good chance they will want to move a veteran defenseman (Goligoski/Demers/Hjalmarsson) either as part of a deal with the Rangers or someone else to create some cap room. I don’t know what they are paying on Hossa’s deal but that also might figure in here. #14 and a young player (they have a few of interest) has me listening. I’d also take Hjalmarsson because he played well this year because he could be flipped down the line.

Do you think a guy like Crouse would be available along with that #14 pick?

The guy I'm sure they would like to move is Demers. Hjalmersson just re-signed and his new deal starts next year

Kreider and Pionk for Demers, Crouse and the 14th overall, plus a conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd if Kreider re-signs?

I’d take him at 14 easily.

hes a riser. BC doesn't take slugs.

and still a few here throwing serious shade on this kid.

kids got a chip on his shoulder about the snubs in the past. he motivated.

"even if he does well in the playoffs, hell drop to the 2nd round because of blah blah blah"

Riser?

He was commonly thought of as a top 5 selection last summer. 15-20 is perfectly reasonable for him at the moment.

yes riser.

if you follow the rankings hes ben all over the place but usually 15-25 range.

hes risen from 16 to 13 from mid term to final.

his stock will continue to rise if he puts up good numbers in the u18. its a big stage.

Connor McMichael and the London Knights(Keane, Bouchard, Boqvist, Foudy, Formenton, coach Dale Hunter) lost to Guelph(Suzuki, Durzi, Entwistle, Gogolev, Samorukov, Ratcliffe, Hawel, Daws, coach George Burnett, longtime Sather homeboy) in the 7th game last night after holding a series 3-0 lead, and a game seven 3-1 lead. Devastating loss for London.

Ken Holland, Red Wings GM, in attendance.

Yeah Newhook would certainly be exciting with our second pick. No doubt we've been watching him this season thanks to Hughes.

Could go all over the place due to competition though. It took us #48 to move from 26-22 last year. Therefore getting from around 20 to around 15 would be pretty hard. Would probably take the 37th pick at least. Have to hope St. Louis and Columbus keep winning.

I don't think we get into the top 15 unless either we get that Dallas pick or we move a roster body.
