Picks #16 and down could change based on playoff results.

1-Hughes
2-Kakko
3-Podkolzin
4-Cozens
5-Byram
6-Dach
7-Zegras
8-Boldy
9-Turcotte
10-Krebs
11-Soderstrom
12-Kaliyev
13-Harley
14-Caufield
15-Broberg
16-Knight
17-Newhook
18-York
19-Heinola
20-Leeson
21-Tomasino
22-Suzuki

In this scenario, the Rangers should use of their 2nd's to trade up in the late teens from #22.

I’m wondering if, having Kakko in the fold makes them more willing to roll the dice on Podkolzin.

I honestly don't know.

I would not be the least bit surprised if he's in the group they're interested in.

I also have to try to my views, from how the Rangers might view things.

Before the draft lottery, I had a cluster of guys from 3-8 that included Cozens, Dach, Zegras, Byram, Turcotte and Podkolzin. Of those players, I probably preferred Dach a little less than the other centers, and Podkolzin a little less than the centers.

However, that's not necessarily how the Rangers view things.

So for me, getting to 8 puts me in a situation where I know at least one guy I really like will be on the board. Getting to 9 or 10 means that's not a given. But that's me, the Rangers could have a very different take and ranking.

If Turcotte is available at 9, I'd be willing to trade Kreider and the #22 to Anaheim in order to grab him there.

Meanwhile, back in the USSR........

Seriously, I think he is a solid 2nd rounder. Up there with Poulin and ahead of Beecher. I think that Nikolaev is a true wild card.

I think calling him a 2nd rounder is seriously underestimating him in this draft.

That said, good for us if that's the average sentiment, let him drop to our 2nd :thumbu:

Feels like there’s been a rise in how Dach is being perceived lately. That 3-10 range is going to be the most interesting area to watch on draft day

I feel like it comes in waves. Cozens was the "it" guy for a while, then it became Turcotte. Zegras saw a swell on here when it was speculated the Rangers could have him ranked fourth. Now it's Dach who is getting the spotlight.

He could anywhere from the teens to the 30s and neither end of the spectrum would surprise me.

I'll say this much, I think he has one of the best and most dangerous shots in the draft and not a lot of people are talking about it.

I definitely agree, seasons are long, it’s hard to be consistent as a teenager, but specifically with Dach it feels like he’s seeing that bump in outside prospect ratings that the other guys didn’t see

Still hoping Zegras is our guy if we can get into the top-10. I think surrounding him with big, talented wingers (which we have an abundance of) could help max out his potential. I think we’re talking about a Giroux-esque guy in Zegras, imagine him being your fourth most talented forward, and feeding perfect passes to Chytil and Buchnevich? That’s when you start thinking about being an era defining team.

I’m getting more and more in love with the idea of using the Rangers chips to get three top 15 picks.

And that’s because the Rangers have a top line of Kravtsov/Zibanejad/Kakko, amirite?

The more time that passes, the more Zegras becomes the kid I want to see in a Rangers uniform. Would not bat an eye with the other three centers, but Zegras has really grown on me over the past 6 months. I love the IQ, I love the focus and competitiveness, I love the play making, and I love the fit for this organization.

I'm still trying to temper my own expectations for their ability to get into the top 10 a second time. I don't even think I can allow myself to think about a third option in the first half.

Getting Arizona’s pick at 14 for Kreider, on top of St. Louis taking out Winnipeg would make it very possible.

With Lemieux-Howden-Andersson as a 3rd line?

Certainly has potential as well.

With regards to both the second and third dreams, it's certainly appealing when you have a player (or players) on your second line who could play on the first line, and a player (players) on your third line who could play on the second line.

When you've reached that point, you know it's a team strength.

Right now, my gut tells me that 14 and 22 might be the cost to get into the top 10. I'd love to be wrong about that though.

All of this.

Getting to the number 2 overall pick is fantastic, but Damn it's gonna sting to see Zegras go somewhere else, he was my fave for months.

Zegras
Newhook
Nikolaev

That's my trio of grief :propeller

Or is it 14 and a player that gets you into the top 10, and the 19th and a 2nd to get up to 15?

I'd say we are steadily heading towards the forward positions depth being a strength.

Possibly. But giving a player to get to 14, and then another player to get into the top 10 could add up quickly.

Certainly if that were to happen, that frees up assets for other moves though.

I think a path is emerging where they could. Now it's a matter of whether they can pursue that path and follow it through to its destination.

But first we need the pieces in the right positions.
