I swear if we don't win for the top three and get 5th or 6th pick and we go off the board this year ugh. I'm happy we took Kravtsov (albeit Dobson would have been a fine pick as well IMO) but this year there should be zero reason we go off the board. one or two very good forwards will be there. Case closed unless we really love Byram.

Is Boldy in the top 5 off the board? Spencer Knight? ;)

I'd say L.A. is a possibility if they get knocked from the third spot, and Detroit might be a candidate as well.
Why would LA and Detroit be interested and not us who right now have a lower slot. Does he fit a certain need? I'm sure he wouldn't come over sooner to a place like LA/Detroit over New York. I mean if we pick after those two teams I hope they do pick him gives us more forwards to choose from

I really feel like once you get past the top 2, there's easily 8 or 9 names who have legit shots to round out the picks falling third through fifth.

So while someone like Broberg or Boldy feels like a bit of a stretch for inclusion in the top to me personally, I can't really say it would be off the board of an outlandish concept either.

Real Talk - is there a chance Podkolzin goes 3,4 or 5?

Of course.

This time of the year people are preoccupied with watching the POs in the Canadian league’s. Then comes the U18 and some other kids will get more attention.

Podkolzin is a very good prospect, has a lot of tools that pays of really really well in the NHL right now. People are seing Pettersson having the success he is having and will think long and hard about passing on Podkolzin.

I have no problems with him as a player, he is a great talent. The junior scoring is nonsense, super small sample size where he was loaned to a team for more or less a conditional stint. He had had bad stats for 40 games it’s one thing, that hasn’t been the case.

I do however not like that he is SKA property. They got weight to throw around. Maybe you could lure him to come over instantly — but is he ready for that?

At 5 anyone besides Cozens, Turcotte, Zegras, Dach and Byram I guess would be off the board. Nah we will wait for the third round this year to pick Knight ;) j/k he will probably be gone by late first early second.
I'd be would be a bit disappointed with Krebs/Boldy especially if Cozens/Turcotte were still there.

I think the Rangers would certainly be in that conversation of places that wouldn't have a hard time getting him to come over. I was simply looking at from the perspective of teams ahead of us that seemed plausible.

As for interest, I don't really know how the Rangers view him. A big thing for the Rangers last year was how Kravtsov's numbers compared others players who had successfully joined the NHL. (I believe some of this was captured on the draft feature, and later echoed by the team in unrelated interviews.)

How would that translate for the Rangers concerning a guy like Podkolzin who some feel hasn't quite put up the numbers that his talent indicates? Not sure if that's a thing for them or not.

My dream is to win the lottery and get Hughes at 1 and then trade up and take Caufield at around 13-14 or something.

Would love to see a Lias-Hughes-Caufield line. ;)

Nice. Thanks for posting. He likes Dach over Cozens. With his rankings we are gonna have some nice choices for sure. And Damn it I wanna see 16-31 since we will have 3 more picks in that range ;)

I think we stand a great chance of coming away with a great prospect.

What I don't know is what percentage of this board will fully embrace that. I don't think anyone will view who we take as a bad prospect, I'm just not sure they'll be consensus on it being a great prospect.

While the article does read very much like a pre-election night piece trying to drum up drama, it's still interesting to see that list in comparison to the opinions on here.

It's almost like we cut Podkolzin and Dach from a spreadsheet and pasted them back in a few rows down.

I just think we have become really excited with the skill set and tools Turcotte and Cozens bring. Something we really would love to see at the forward position on broadway (no offense to Kravtsov/Chytil)

if Dallas does what they can do then we might just have the capital to draft up to get Caufield...maybe.

I’ll admit that I definitely didn’t read any of the preamble, but in regards to the rankings, like we’ve all been saying, that 3-8 group is so tight that it feels like they just kept what they’ve had all season because no ones really pulled away from the pack, but whoever he’s talking to finally feels like Zegras and Turcotte are proving they deserve to be up there so they racked them onto the end

I think he only did the top 15 in anticipation for the lottery coming up, but is saving the full thing for after the U18’s and for the draft to be almost here

Boldy is NOT that much of a stretch. Would I be disappointed if Cozens, Dach were passed on, sure. But, I believe, there is not as much distance between Turcotte/Zegras and Boldy as some think. Krebs is a different story entirely.
