Not for anything, I haven't seen a single mock draft for the Rangers (outside of our board), that I either like or think is accurate.

It feels like they either give us a pick that doesn't feel like as natural of a fit as some of the others, or they give us the prospect they don't like as much.
They're assuming we do something weird

were going to be picking 5th.

Detroit has been playing well for a while now. 8-2 in their last 10. Lots of their younger players are progressing. They're a few years into the rebuild, so things are bubbling up for them. Pens and Sabres to end the season. Can pray that Sabres game goes into OT. Sabres have Ottawa tonight. Back to back for Ottawa after playing here last night. Maybe the Sabres can pull it out and win, get to OT vs Detroit. That would get them to a tie with us in points with them holding the tiebreaker.

Not sure if we're going to win either of the last two game. Columbus and Pittsburgh have a lot to play for in these last two games. Of course, we beat St. Louis and Toronto who were in meaningful games. Clearly the team gets to a higher level when the big boys come to town. Let's hope we roll over and have a shot at the #4 pick.

Phil Tomasino. After 16 games he had 8 points. Since then - 35 goals, 35 assists in 57 games.

Connor Mccmichael. 40 points in first 32 games. 32 points in his last 45 games.

Tomasino has grown on me as the season's progressed.

I really like his skating and compete level, I haven't always been as sold on some of the other components --- his shot, his offensive reads, his two-way play, etc. They all rate as good, but not necessarily great. I felt as if the skating boosts other areas that aren't necessarily quite as good as I would've liked to have seen.

Having said that, as he's matured, I think he's done a good job of figuring out what works, and how to get the most out of his tools.

I'd be very happy with Fagemo in the late 1st / early 2nd too.

I'm beating a dead horse here, but I think the guy who is only 3 months older than Anton Lundell and has similar production in the same league would be a great pick if we can get him in the late first or early second instead of in the top 5 like Lundell or Kotkaniemi.

I'd be happy w Tomasino, but would prefer Nick Robertson. I think he's more skilled and he's posted similar production to Tomasino while being younger and on a worse team. He's a long weekend away from being in next year's draft and he leads his OHL team in scoring.

We have no almost no shot at #4. Do you really see Buffalo earning 3 of 4 points in their final two games after losing 8 straight? lol

We're really looking at 5/6 with an outside shot at 7. Obviously that's before the lottery where we could move up to a top 3 pick but are more likely to move down a spot.

In regards to the draft/lottery with 2 games to go for most teams in the "race":

Rangers are currently holding the 6th spot.

• NYR can not finish lower than 8th (most likely an 8th or 9th pick, 11th being the lowest possible)
• If Anaheim gets 1 point in the final 2 games, NYR finish no lower than 7th. (7th, 8th, 10th lowest poss.)
• If Oilers get 2 points in any fashion over their final 2 games, NYR finish no lower than their current position. (7th, 9th lowest poss.)
• If the Rangers lose out, Detroit needs only 1 point in the final two games for NYR to move to 5th. (6th, 7th, 8th lowest poss.)
• If the Rangers get 1 point in final 2 games, they will finish 6th or higher. (Detroit needs 2 points)
• If the Rangers get 2 points in final 2 games, they will finish 6th or 5th (Detroit needs 3 points)
• If the Rangers get 3 points in final 2 games, they will finish 6th or 7th (only if Oilers lose out)
• If the Rangers get 4 points in final 2 games, they can finish as low as 8th (if Ducks lose out) and everyone can have a breakdown.
• The highest the Rangers can finish is 4th, but they need to lose out or only get 1 point with Detroit help. Don't expect Buffalo (3 or 4 points in final 2 gms) to do them any favors.

Getting to the 5th spot would be wonderful and secures them a top 8 pick at the very least. The way the percentages work it will likely be #6 or #7, but the chances of them getting a top 3 pick increase to 8.5-9%

The situation they are in with Ottawa on a B2B could be the scenario where it happens. I do not expect them to go to OT with Detroit though, but one can hope.

Why is their pick most likely going to be 8th or 9th?

Also aside from Geo shannagins, I expect this team to finish 5th prior to the lottery.

The pick will likely be 5th or 6th before the lottery. Assuming we don't win the lottery there's a good chance we'll drop a spot since it is very likely at least one of the teams behind us will leapfrog us to the top 3. So I'm still sticking with my guess that we'll be picking 6th or 7th assuming we don't win the lottery.

even 6th or 7th they have choices

Turcotte Dach and perhaps even byram.

podkolzin as well.

if theres even one reach in there prior to us, say broberg or someone taking a flyer on say kaliyev, we then have even more options.

theres value and talent there even at 7 and im sure we get one of the guys who's well liked here.

i wonder if moving down would be in play if theres a few guys they really like that may fall or get bumped.

I swear if we don't win for the top three and get 5th or 6th pick and we go off the board this year ugh. I'm happy we took Kravtsov (albeit Dobson would have been a fine pick as well IMO) but this year there should be zero reason we go off the board. one or two very good forwards will be there. Case closed unless we really love Byram.

Hope Buffalo doesn't troll us by losing tonight then beating Detroit in regulation. Tonight's game against ottawa is the most meaningless Important game of the year lol

Gut feeling says they are not going Podkolzin. Reasoning is that they really like the US program and did not beef up their WHL scouting for nothing. In that 5-7 range, would guess at Byram, Dach, Cozens, Turcotte, Zegras. Not like I am going out on a stretch here.

Real Talk - is there a chance Podkolzin goes 3,4 or 5?
Nope. I know i've been told others around the league may think differently but very few Ranger fans has even mentioned taking him in the top 6/7. He has top 5 talent and a great motor but will Colorado (nope), LA (nope), New Jersey (Nope), Detroit (maybe but probably n0t) wanna deal with the russia factor and him maybe taking 4 plus years to come over? Question becomes which team in the 6-13 range takes him

i don't have any interest in podkolzin 5-7. zero.
