Not sure if he's a Ranger fan, but there's a potential steal in Farinacci. High school kid, but my contacts in the tri-state area are very high on him.

Upside is worth a late 2nd. Would be a steal further down. Not saying he's a lock, but he's a high upside player.

Tell me about Farinacci, I know nothing about him.

High-speed, two-way forward with an underrated playmaking ability. Is also really slick in stick-handling department. Harvard commit next season. Could be one of those that might need all four years, but I think it'll be due to academics. Very good on the PK for Dexter, but I don't think he'll be known for his PP skills.

IMO, good pick for the late 2nd round!!

Agreed, an underrated player who looked really slick and agile at Hlinka and in the few USHL games he played in. Strong, good reach and great leg strength. Harvard thing aside, he'd be a good choice in the late 2nd.

HS kid, low mileage but has played in high level local tourneys since he was kid. Was Zegras running mate for a while when they were kids.

RH playmaking center. Comes from a good family. Very bright kid from what I've heard.

I feel like we need to consolidate the quantity into quality. Use the WPG, TB, DAL picks, with players like Vesey/Names/Pionk to move up
I think we all went thru this last year around this time with trying to move up with one of our Boston pick to ironically enough take Kravtsov. It's so hard to move up into that area of the first round where your next tier of quality guys are (last years examples would have been someone like a Farabee/Kaut/Ty Smith). We were real lucky to scoop up Miller at 22. Guys like Pionk or Names are not gonna move the first round needle in my opinion. To move up just 4 slots took our 26th and a pretty good second rounder (48th).

Yeah, I liked him better than Robertson at the Hlinka. Arthur Kalyiev isn't really my cup of tea, and they are different player types, but Farinacci was probably my favorite US kid from the Hlinka.

He is one of the kids that isn't there yet from a 1st round POV in my opinion, but if he can push his game all over the board and gain a step on the kids ahead of him he will be an intriguing high potential prospect. If you believe that he has a ton of untapped potential he warrants a bit higher pick, if not he is probably still a good add a little later in the draft.

Yep. International tournaments dictate draft rankings for about 60%, when it comes to EU prospects, it's closer to 95%

I’m just gonna keep posting Samuel Fagemos name until everyone wants him because he’s the best player that will likely be available in the late 1st or 2nd round.

4th in the SHL in 5v5 P/60 and P1/60

Fagemo's D+1 performance is what you could only hope for with a late 1st rounder. With Fagemo, that performance is already guaranteed. He'd be a great pick with the WPG 1st

I go back and forth on whether I like Helleson or McCarthy more this season. They both have good frames to build into strong, stocky, good-skating defenseman, and they both obviously look good within the USNTDP structure. Before the season, I was a much bigger fan of Helleson, but McCarthy has struck me with some wow moments throughout the year where I thought he might have that next notch in his game. Gun to my head, I think I stick with Helleson as the one that'll end up as the better pro, but I think it's close.

The LD on the U18s always strike me as the more impressive of the bunch between York and Fensore.

Side note: the way Beniers has stepped up and contributed with the U18s was not something I was expecting. Kid has 18 points in 11 games as a 16 year old, 2021 eligible.

I’d be fine/happy with him from the mid-first range onward, and there was that report earlier about the Rangers being interested in him, so it might work out that way

Guys Kaapo Kakko will be a NYR, it has to happen.

If we get the 1st overall pick, I'd be happy. If we get the 2nd overall pick, I will be ecstatic. Sounds weird, I know. But man, I can't handle 10 years of "Ugh, why did we pick *insert player* instead of *whoever was picked 2nd overall*?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers took Farinacci earlier than other teams. My hopes are that he's still underscouted. But that's a great value pick imo.

I think it's the concept of preserving one's sanity that sounds nice. There's something appealing about saying, "This was the guy. Everyone felt it, there was nothing to discuss."

When you get beyond that, it gets messy. Who wanted someone else and won't let the world forget it, who feels vindicated and won't let the world forget it, who is going back and trying to change their vote, who still doubts the pick and takes every opportunity to snipe at it, etc.

Sometimes you just want to skip all the BS and move forward.

Exactly. And the 2nd overall pick is the ONLY pick in this draft that will be accepted by everyone. No controversy at all.

NYR wins lottery and vancouver gets #2. whats your price to trade down? whats vancouver willing to pay for hughes?

Not for anything, I haven't seen a single mock draft for the Rangers (outside of our board), that I either like or think is accurate.

It feels like they either give us a pick that doesn't feel like as natural of a fit as some of the others, or they give us the prospect they don't like as much.
