From first to last....

1. Moritz Seider
2. Alex Newhook
3. Jack Hughes
4. Cole Caufield
5. Peyton Krebs
6. Ryder Donovan (the guy who bows)
7. Cade Webber
8. Philip Broberg???
9. Jordan Spence

Said it in the other thread but I’m really hoping Donovan impressed them enough for a draft pick. In my first round and he’s going to join K’Andre at Wisconsin next year

Gorts looks love struck as he watches Hughes

Also, don’t expect Newhook to make it past 14. I just can’t see it. Seider could make it to 20, but it’s a long shot. Newhook can’t get there.

I would certainly be on board with taking Newhook at 4 overall of Hughes, Kakko and Turcotte is off the board.

The mindset that's been shared for a while (and one I happen to agree with) is that they'd rather go with higher impact in this draft, than spread their bets out across multiple picks.

Obviously there's sometimes an ocean of difference between what we want to do and what we can do, but I'm fairly sure they're still picking up phones to see what options may be out there.
Agree with this. The focus at this point should be acquiring quality rather than quantity at this point in the rebuild.

The farm is full with depth, now is the time to go out and get the next core pieces.

Always important to remember that while everyone always wants to know who is on the radar for the first round, these interviews are also used as part of the research for picks in other rounds, or down the line as trades come up.

It’s also worth noting that these interviews can be deceiving, not unlike job interviews. There are many times where a player has a quick interview, doesn’t think anything of it, and is picked by a team. Other times a player has a lengthy interview, felt it went well, and gets passed over.

Wait What!?

You have Donovan as a first round pick..?

I would be absolutley ragin' if we wasted a 1st on him. Anything less than a 7th is an overpayment.

There are so many talented players in this draft that he is ranked above.

I’d like to hear your reasoning, especially the bolded

The size and the wheels alone make him worthy of a top 3 round pick.

I wouldn't be happy with him in the 1st either, but hes clearly better than a 7th round pick.

He is a high school player who is playing against kids. Not Juniors, kids!

The level he plays at and his offensive game is very meh for a draft pick. He does not stand out in any way.

The only thing he has is his speed and height. He is even very light for his height.

Im just not a fan that is all and think there are players who are much better for us to draft.

I pretty much just watch and read this thread but a question for our gurus...I've seen Bobby Brink seemingly climbing draft charts and I've heard some noise of him going as high as top 10. Anything to this?
I feel like I heard that a few weeks ago too. It’s possible, but I don’t think I’d personally take him in the top 10, would be great if he did go that high and pushed another guy further down though

I think he’s a guy you can’t rule out in the mix for pushing someone out of the top 10, though I think that might be a bit of a stretch personally.

But the 11-15 range? Yeah, I think that’s a distinct possibility.

So was Kreider. Even lower level kids at that.

I doubt the Rangers are looking at all these kids for the first.

Assuming nothing changes, this team has two seconds and a third to use as well.

This draft does and will extend beyond the 2nd and 20th picks.

So, is Cozens a possible faller?

Honestly man, anyone outside of the top two is a possibility. Some more than others. For example I can’t really see Byram or Turcotte not going in the top 10.

But every year there are players who people would swear are top 10 picks on May 31. And every year there’s a rumor about some guy going third or fourth because a team really likes them.

And every years guys slide out of the top 10. The Islanders drafted two of them last year. Hell, they nabbed three guys who would’ve been in most top 20 lists just six months prior.

There’s always a Getzlaf, a Fowler, a Cherepanov, a Vilardi who is sitting there in the teens. There’s one reason or another they fell. Sometimes they work out. Sometimes they don’t.

The only thing I know for sure is that Hughes and Kakko will be the first two names called.

Improved point per game from 1.19 to 1.62

He was supposed to go in the 1st round, we could have had him in the 2nd round, our scouts messed up taking some random goalie over a legit prospect.

and if you redraft 2018, Akil goes top 15 for sure, while Olof likely goes undrafted.

Gorton looks more like some mafia guy creeping from the side and giving weird stares.
