if newhook had been picked for the canadian tourney teams and had played at say....i dunno, let say windsor rather than victoria, kids top 10 easy.

given.

i continue to hope for something like this

kakko
newhook
lavoie/bjornfot
doro/nikolaev

my list

2. kakko
20. newhook/suzuki/lavoie
49. cajkovic/rees
55. rees/dorofeyev

I have a hard time believing newhook will be available at 20. Suzuki I'd be thrilled with though at 20. Cajkovic I really love. He strikes me as a smarter Chris Kreider. That kid is made for the modern NHL. I have him way above Dorofeyev who is a good player to draft but he reminds me exactly of Buchnevich and the problem is, we already have a Buchnevich who is further along in his development. With Cajkovic's style, even if he doesn't develop into a top 6 player, his size and speed and backcheck are well suited for bottom 6 duties. Alas, I totally expect Cajkovic gone well before 49 so if we grab Dorofeyev there because Cajkovic is gone, I wouldn't complain. The other player I'd also consider for a 2nd is Rees who I fully don't expect to be around that late either.

Random assessment: really don't like Kaliyev

He was supposed to go in the 1st round, we could have had him in the 2nd round, our scouts messed up taking some random goalie over a legit prospect.

and if you redraft 2018, Akil goes top 15 for sure, while Olof likely goes undrafted.

Ehhh. No. A goalie who played so well he was called up to the senior team in the SHL and then signed a pro contract at age 18 would not go undrafted.

not surprising...tons of combine stuff popping up all over twitter zegras is even trending

Am I the only one who doesn't really care about measurements for 18 year olds? This isn't like the NFL combine where prospects are 22-23 and mostly done developing

I was just joking around.

Every year there are a few guys whos stats are a surprise, so I don't know how much those teams keep it up to date.

Measurements are updated once a year in most leagues. Players grow and develop in a year. If those "surprise stat players" are measured by their league in August, it would show the same results as the combine this week.

Which is basically my point. How much do measurements mean for 17 or 18 year olds?

Watching Interviews from the combine:

Gotta get Zegras ! Not only a talented kid, but funny and very personable. "the wingate was definitely something special.....I actually asked the guys to get in my ear and yell at me a little bit to keep me going...."

Spencer Knight just had to bring up Lundqvists name, his idol.

Marshall Warren, another really good NY kid, "Ugh, having to go over the GWB(to play NJU16) was a hassle, but it was worth it"

If he is available for the TBL pick, I would love to grab him

Hmmmm.....

literally nothing matters at the combine...the measurements don't matter, the cookie cutter rehearsed interview answers don't matter, how high a guy can jump doesn't matter...but i'd still rather discuss any news coming out about various kids over arguing about whether or not to sign panarin lol

What are the chances that Hughes can’t do a pull up and the Devils pass on him as a result? Then the Rangers pass on him too and take Knight because “we recognize that Lundqvist is at the tail end of his career and this kid will step right in to fill his shoes”.

Spencer Knight destroying the combine.

So far:

Marshall Warren, Alex Campbell, John Beecher and Albin Grewe also nailed the vertical jump.

Beecher and Korczak with strongest grip.

Nikolaev with the best fatigue index.

Afanasyev with the best V02 max on the bike.

Zegras has the longest wingspan out of all the guys measuring 6'0 or under.

Nils Hoglander #1 in the bench press and pullups. He's also in the top 10 for long jump.

Thomas wouldn’t go first round and I’m 100% confident in that. Olof was a top 5 goalie in the draft, no chance he goes undrafted either but likely in the 4th/5th round where he was initially projected to go
