I read that after Hughes and Kakko there is another tier of 7 guys clustered from 3 to 9. So I'm hoping we can end up somewhere in that mix, assuming we don't get a break and win a top selection.

After reading this thread I get more baffled from post to post. I think I am sold on someone and then by the next page you guys bring up good points and have me changing my mind.

I just hope the Rangers don't trade picks to move up. It would be too expensive to move up to #1 or #2.. Evaluations of kids after the first two picks are all over the place. Our chances are better when we have more picks and not trying to outsmart everyone by trading up for someone we think other people are missing on.

Also for you guys that know things , do you think we have a shot at Grewe with our 2nd rounder? Where does he fall and am I off liking his game.

Finally who should we be looking at in the College free agency market? You guys have any names?

edit- nevermind.

I'd be happy with taking the US players

With our first pick - Hughes/Turcotte/Zegras

With our later pick - Caufield/Brink

Fagemo has 2 goals todayand this only after the first period. I wonder if he'll even be available with our second first if he keeps this up

For me it’s always BPA. Don’t believe in drafting by position. I think it’s more relevant in the NFL then it is in the NHL. Here’s my top 15 as of now. I would be happy with any of these players with the Rangers first pick of round 1. If the pick falls within the top 10, which there is a good chance i would love to see either Turcotte or Krebs. I just want to stay in the mindset that lotto 3 are just a tad out of reach. I think the club finishes 8-12 somewhere.

My ranks below are not where I believe each player will be drafted. While I have Podkolzin at 3, I do think it is not only possible, but even likely that #19 slides a bit for the Russian factor. Would he slide to 8-12? Probably not, but anything can happen. I also feel that Cozens and Dach will go higher then where I have them on my list. Early favs for the 8-12 range are definitely Turcotte and Krebs.
  1. Hughes
  2. Kakko
  3. Podkolzin
  4. Turcotte
  5. Zegras
  6. Cozens
  7. Byram
  8. Krebs
  9. Dach
  10. Boldy
  11. Newhook
  12. Soderstrom
  13. Caufield
  14. Robertson
  15. Kaliyev

With at least two 1sts, I might take a look at Spencer Knight, as long as we are talking BPA. Kind of hard to project still though. A lot depends on where the Rangers first pick ends up being.

I wouldn't be surprised if they traded a 2nd (or more) to move swap firsts to get a higher overall pick again like they did last year.

Think I’d probably hang myself if we took a round one goalie.

Seriously, the position itself just isn’t 1st round worthy. At this point it’s almost like taking a kicker.

Im assuming the Rangers will have a good bead on Peyton Krebs when the draft rolls around. They have some familiar faces in Kootenay, to use as a reference. Former NY Ranger James Patrick is currently coaching the Ice. James Patrick, and Lindy Ruff coached the Sabres together for 7 seasons. Kootenay currently has 3 draft eligible players that are ranked by Central scouting so i'm sure at some point the Rangers have sent Konowalchuk there to get a good look. Makaj, Muir and Krebs all draft eligible and ranked in this years draft.

James Patrick has this to say about Krebs...
"he best resembles an 18-year-old Jonathan Toews."

Steve K
He’s incredibly smart with or without the puck, and Krebs thrives under pressure, especially late in games. He’s a very good skater with excellent balance and agility, and his ability to turn quickly and react towards the right direction makes him an asset in all three zones.

Dobber Prospects
"The supremely skilled forward is elusive and shifty with the puck. Takes creative lines to dangerous areas of the ice. The type of player that sees plays develop before those around him and uses that to exploit the opposition. Owns terrific puck skills."

Sportsnet Cosetino
"Takes a pro mentality to the ice regardless of game or practice. Well-rounded player who drives the play and makes others around him better."

Craig Button

"Highly competitive with a relentless determination and finds ways to make contributions in all areas of the game."

I think our Goalie depth is a bit underrated, especially with the ability to identify good UFA's as well (Talbot, Raanta). We need to go for impact forwards or D, and especially the forwards, this scouting staff has not proven they can find these guys so the more picks the better.

Shesty, 1995 born
Georgiev, 1996 born
Huska, 1997 born
Walll, 1998 born
Lindbom, 200 born

we have plenty of 7th's in 2020, go crazy with goalies here
