How has Kemell looked?
That has been asked before.

Kemell is doing well. He has 8 points in 16 games. The other teams pay a lot of attention to him to prevent him from scoring. He plays a physical game to protect himself and to try and make some room on the ice. He also has 8 PIMs.

The team is 9-6-1, in third place in their 7 team division. They are only 2 points behind first place.

Milwaukee defeated Iowa 3-1 last night in a battle for third place in the division.

The Admirals dominated the first 10 minutes of the game, building a 8-1 SOG lead. Iowa adjusted and started blocking some shots. By the end of the period, it was 9-8 Ads with no goals scored.

In period 2, Svechkov scored (4) with assists to Angello (3) and Livingstone (3). Ninety seconds later, it was Roland McKeown (3) from the high slot with assists to Gurianov (9) and Jankowski (8). Jankowski started the play with a point blank shot on goal. Gurianov recovered the puck and made a brilliant pass to McKeown near the blue line. McKeown took two strides towards the net and sniped one.
Six minutes later, it was Jankowski (3) with assists to Gurianov (10) and McKeown (3). Milwaukee should have scored two more goals in the period, but they missed open nets. Iowa scored with 30 seconds remaining to make it 3-1. The SOG were 10-6 Milwaukee.

The second period had a fight after Wilsby was blind sided by Raska along the left half wall. Reid Schaefer went after Raska and they dropped the gloves. Schaefer isn't a fighter, but he stood up for his teammate and sent a message to Raska, who also had a Boarding penalty three minutes into the game. He is one of three DIRTY players for the Iowa Whiners, who complained to the refs the entire game.

The third period had Iowa leading SOG 10-6. Askarov was in goal and looked sharp.
Thank you so much for posting these game summaries. Really top notch style and great observations also

The Ads are hosting Grand Rapids, the Detroit affiliate. After one period, the score is 1-0 Griffins. In the first 10 minutes the Ads led in shots 6-4. Nothing seemed to be a penalty. In the second 10 minutes, everything seemed to be a penalty. The Ads got 3 minors and two of them were total BS! The SOG ended up 13-7 for GR.

In the first 6 minutes of period 2, GR picked up 2 minors. I guess it is their turn to get most of the penalties? No penalties for slashing Troy Grosenick or pulling down the puck carrier from behind on a PP. The refs need an improvement program!

After 2 periods, it is 1-1 on a ESG by Adam Wilsby (1) from the center of the blue line. The assist went to Cal O'Reilly (4). The SOG were 18-5 Milwaukee and 25-18 so far. Troy Grosenick has robbed GR out of two goals.

Four minutes into period 3, the Ads lead 3-1. Wilsby took a shot from the left point and Kemell (5) tipped it into the net. The Ads won an O-zone face off. Egor picked up the puck and skated to the top of the circle and let it fly. The puck went 5 hole. About 5 minutes later the Ads were short handed. Jasper Weatherby poked the puck loose and skated up ice. He cut towards the goal. Egor ended up with the puck and shot it. The puck hit the goalie, Hutchinson, and popped 10 or 12 feet up in the air above the crease. It came down and rolled across the line for a SHG to make it 4-1.

With 9 minutes left, Svechkov had a skate kicked out and crashed heavily into the end boards in front of me. He did not get up. I am guessing that his wrist is broken. No penalty was called. Mutter slashed Kasper, #92 for GR, as teams were changing during the time out. I am guessing that it was Kasper that kicked out Svechkov's skate. He played dirty all game and took just 2 minors for it. L'Heureux wanted to fight him in period 1, but he refused like the chicken he is on the ice when someone is looking at him. At 4:19 remaining, GR scored a PPG to make it 4-2. GR pulled their goalie and the Ads Gravel was called for a High Stick, which actually was a good call. GR had a 6-on-4 advantage but they seemed too tired to score.. The Ads nearly had another shorty. The final was 4-2 in front of 4,000 fans.

Notes: Keaton Thompson played the best game on defense for the Admirals. That was the best game that I have ever seen him play! Egor Afansayev had the best offensive game. He seemed to be everywhere on the ice. Those were Egor's 7th and 8th goals. The respective assists went to O'Reilly (5) and Jasper Weatherby (5).

Stars of the Game: #1 Wilsby (1G 1A), #2 Afanasyev (2G) and #3 Troy Grosenick (28 saves) in goal.

Ref Ratings: You would need Isaac Newton to figure this one out, but I will try.

Shaun Davis (#31): He was good, then he was bad in period 1. He was okay in period 2. He was okay at the start of period 3, but bad during the last five minutes. I call it a 3.

Peter Tarnaris (#17): He was good for 10 minutes, then bad for 10 minutes, he was okay for 20 minutes, then he was bad for 20 minutes. I call it a 2. He missed a lot of penalties against Grand Rapids, especially what happened to Svechkov.

Edit: With the win, the Admirals moved into second place in their division. GR is now 5th.

The next game is Wednesday Dec 6th at 7 PM. The Ads host San Diego, the 10th place team in the Pacific Division, who played at Chicago last night and defeated the last place Wolves 4-1. Chicago is now 4-11-1-1 for 10 points. Milwaukee has 21 points. Texas has 25 points and has played one more game than the Admirals.

The Ads are playing, and so is Svechkov!
They have a new player on the ice, #15 Gicewicz (?), must be Janko's replacement.
The Gulls scored on their 3rd SOG. It went over Askarov's left shoulder from distance.

SD scored a PPG from the center of the blue line. I would take Asky out! He looks slow to react. He could see the puck all the way thru the 5-hole. That was SD's 4th shot.

DeLeo, the SD captain, assaulted L'Heureux during a TO and did not get a reaction or a penalty! He should have picked up 2 for Cross Checking.

SD scored on another long shot with 42 seconds left. Three goals on 8 shots. I expect Troy in goal for period 2. The SOG were 13-8 Milwaukee.

The music is loud for period 2. The fans can't boo the refs. Asky pulled after 4th goal on 13 shots. Way too late Karl Taylor!

After L'Heuruex is knocked down before a face off, he gets his second Roughing penalty of the game. These refs are TRASH. The fans finally started the Ref you Suck chant. That was also late! #15 knocked down after the whistle by SD. No call by the GUTLESS refs. SD for Holding the stick. Egor for Interference. I guess this is a no Checking league?

The Ads scored 2 goals in the last 7 minutes to make it interesting. Denis Gurianov (6) sniped an upper corner with assists to L'Heureux (7) and Del Gaizo (7) on the PP. Three minutes later, Adam Wilsby scored (2) with assists to Kemell (5) and Guruanov (11). Troy Grosenick was pulled and SD scored seconds later to make it 5-2 Gulls. The SOG were 34-26 Ads.

Gurianov was the 3rd star with 1G and 1A.

The attendance was 4067, but it looked and sounded like half of that to me.

Ref Ratings: Kyle Bauman (#59) gets a 2.
Bobby Jo Love (51) gets a 1. He STUNK up the cold arena. It is 40 F outside and that felt warm after the game. Love should find another job, perhaps in fast food?

The refs did not protect L'Heureux at all in the game. The Admirals should send the game tape to the AHL league office. The Gulls should be fined, as should 3 of their goon players.

Milwaukee is on the road at the Iowa Wild. Tonight at 7 PM CT and Saturday night at 6 PM.

Players Moves: Jankowski and Statsney are back from Nashville. Prokop went back to Atlanta.

Troy Grosenick is in goal. Janko is taking the face off. He has Egor and L'Heureux on his line.

Svechkov was on the bench/ice for at least half of the 3rd pd Griffins game, FWIW.
Somehow, I didn't see him. Neither did my daughter. (I am overdue for an eye exam.)

Any word on why Groesnick left? He was up 2-0 after 2 and Askarov started the third and has let the game get tied?

No goals were scored in period 1 on several quality chances. The Ads led in SOG 13-12. Grosenick made a terrific save and stretched too far and hurt himself, but stayed in the game after the trainer looked at him.

Milwaukee opened the scoring tonight against Iowa in the second period with a 5-on-3 PPG. Denis Gurianov (7) scored with assists to Svechkov (6) and Gross (3). He tried to make a pass though the crease to Jankowski, but it hit an Iowa Dman and went into the net. About 90 seconds later, the Ads scored another PPG via Jankowski (4) with assists to Kemell (6) and Gross (4). Janko flipped it over the goalie and into the net.

Grosenick stopped a penalty shot with about one minute remaining in the period. He may have injured his back. Troy has been very good in recent weeks. The SOG were 15-11 Iowa. Milwaukee has scored just 10 first period goals in 20 games. They have given up 15 goals.

Troy Grosenick did not return for period 3 due to his injury. Askarov allowed 2 goals in period 3 in less than a three minute span At 16:08 Egor Afanasyev (9) scored with assists to L'Heureux (8) and Livingstone (4). The puck popped up in the air, L'Heureux tapped it from the right post to the left and Egor knocked it into the goal. Jankowski scored an ENG, but it was waived off and he received a tripping penalty at 18:23. Weatherby took the draw. Weatherby (2) scored an EN short handed goal to make it 4-2 with 12 seconds remaining, assist to Afanasyev (5).

Iowa had 13 to 9 SOG in period 3. The Ads went 2 of 4 on the PP and Iowa was 0 for 6.
Kevin Gravel blocked a ton of shots. He must of blocked 5 or 6 in period 3.

Milwaukee is 6-4-1-1 on the road. Grosenick hasn't allowed a goal in his last 70 minutes in net.
He was the 2nd star and Egor was the third star. Frosties tonight and tomorrow in Milwaukee.

With the win, Milwaukee is now 3 points ahead of Iowa with a game in hand.

Glads stats update... I haven't been following them but after starting on fire 6-0, sure seems like they've hit a rut since then!

The Ads are leading 1-0 after one period at Iowa. It was Gurianov (8) at 6:04 minutes into the game. Maybe he should be called The Russian (Scoring) Machine? Eight goals in 21 games. I believe that he is leading the team. Kemell and Del Gaizo with the assists.

It was 2-0 after a 4-on-3 PPG goal at 16:29 by Gross (2) with assists to Svechkov and Kemell. Wallstedt never saw the puck. Iowa scored their own PPG to make it 2-1 Admirals.

Milwaukee scored in period 3. It was waived off by ref Bobby Jo Love, one of Wednesday's infamous refs. Then he signaled that it was a good goal, then waived off again. This was followed by a 4 official conference, then an official review. The goal was finally counted to make it 3-1. It was Jankowski (5) with assists to Gurianov and Kemell.

Afanasyev (10) scored an ENG with 5 seconds remaining to make it 4-1. The assists went to Stasney and Jankowski.

The Ads swept the series, have 25 points and are now 5 points ahead of the Wild. Askarov is now 5-0-1 versus Iowa's Jesper Wallstedt in net. The Admirals are 4-1 against Iowa this season.

Askarov was the #1 star with 24 saves. Gurianov was the #2 star and Gross was the #3 star. He had the GWG.

And for Svechkov, defense always comes first. That's why his point totals so far, while nothing special, are still quite good. He's playing in a defensive role on the 3rd line but still has 13 points in 21 games.

I still think it will take some time for him to find his offensive game in NA, but when he does, he should be a solid middle-six center for us.

All 3 of our rookie forwards have pretty good production. For all the talk of regression, Kemell is in the top 20 for rookies in the AHL in points. Svech is just 1 pt behind him and L'Heureux 1 pt behind Svech. Sure it isnt a blistering pace but still pretty respectable for a bunch of 19 and 20 year olds on a rather young team.

Kemell's putting up the assists but seems to be very snakebitten on the PP. Only 1 PP goal this year and that was a month ago. Once he gets going on the PP, he will start getting his goals. The PP is where he shines.
