It's good to see L'Heureux having success in all facets of his game. Maybe there was something to the thought process that said the kids just needed to get out of the troll infested cesspool of Canadian junior hockey.

The Quebec league is also pretty heavily regulated, maybe moreso than anywhere else. So I suspect it is more of a maturity and learning process for the individual player that is going on here, not a league-specific thing. But then everybody has always noted that L'Heureux has the skills, if he can just get the rest of his shit together. Hence being an NHL 1st round pick. Good to see early positive returns, regardless! :handclap:

I'm sure it's a mix of several things, either way, it's a good sign.

Those were PPG by Kemell (4), his first PPG on a 5-on-3 with assists to McKeown (2) and Afanasyev (1) at 8:34 over the right shoulder. L'Heureux (4) scored from the bottom of the right circle with assists to Svechkov (4) and Del Gaizo (2) at 10:41. The Ads have only 4 PPG this year, with 2 in this period. The SOG were Milwaukee 11-8.

In period 2, the Admirals had a flock of penalties, receiving the last seven called in the period. The SOG were Rockford 14-4 as they tied the game. The tying goal was a 5-on-3.

In period 3, Denis Gurianov (4) scored at 2:37 to make it 3-2 Ads. The assists were by O'Reilly (3) and Kemell (4) from the bottom of the left circle. Gurianov scored on the short side as the goalie was leaning the wrong way. There was a fight behind the goal 90 seconds later between Anthony Angello and Andrew Perrott, the son of former Admiral Nathan Perrott. Rockford tied it up about the time when their 5 minute penalties expired.

At 18:40, McKeown went 5-hole and scored his second goal of the season to make it 4-3 Ads. The assists went to Del Gaizo (3) and Afanasyev (2), both being their second assists in this game.

Rockford pulled their goalie, Drew Commesso (16 saves), formerly of Boston University, who has a 2.20 GAA. Rockford scored on a rebound at 19:48 to tie it. That is the second game in a row where Milwaukee allowed a goal in the last minute! Troy Grosenick had 33 saves.

In OT, at 2:20, Cal O'Reilly scored his second goal of the season from the right circle to win!
That was Cal's 25th GWG. Previously, he had his 200th assist for the Admirals. He is moving up the franchise charts in a few catagories. The assists were to Livingstone (2) and Svechkov (5), giving Milwaukee ten assists in their 5-4 OT win.

Prokop got a minor for Hooking in period 2, his only stat.

Milwaukee is 4-0 in OT games this year, three of those were on the road. The Ads are 6-5 so far, in third place. Rockford is one point behind in 4th place.
luke propkop is a fringe AHL’er

He said that when he was an ECHLer too.
For some people it is more "OMG - once upon a time I posted something pumping Matier's tires, and OMG - Prokop got recalled instead" and that's as far as they care.

To me, BOTH of Matier and Prokop would normally be AHL D on a team that didn't have the weird overload on D we happened to run into. Anything positive that either one of them does meanwhile, including promotions, is all to the good. It's long odds on either of them making the NHL. But any iota of a positive sign along the way is a Good Thing, I don't care one bit who gets that nod.

Is Svechkov a center or winger in Milwaukee?
He is listed as a Center. However, I have seen him line up on face offs as a Winger. That might have been a third period where the Admirals went to 2 Centers for a face off late in a close game. Karl Taylor is a good Head Coach.

Tonight, Milwaukee hosted Chicago in front of 5600 fans on Dog Day. Chicago has 4 former Admirals playing for them.

The Wolves played their usual dirty game in period 1. Checking, Tripping and Holding behind the play happened A LOT. The refs called one penalty on Chicago. That was called by ref Shaun Davis #31, who seemed to be the better of the two refs. That is when you know that you are in trouble.

Chicago scored first, at 4:16 into the period. Askarov just missed the puck with his glove. Maybe he is a little rusty? Four minutes later, Milwaukee was called for a Bench Minor for Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Team Captain Kevin Gravel served it. I suspect that he yelled something about the lack of calls on Chicago by the refs. Eight and a half minutes of "Slap Shot" goonery was just too much. At 18:02, Mark Jankowski (2) scored a crazy goal to make it 1-1. Janko brought the puck towards the goal, was in too far and passed back to Denis Gurianov (8) at the bottom of the circle. He fired it at the goal. The puck popped up in the air above the crease. The third Ads forward (Afanasyev (3)) sent a rebound towards the goalie and the puck died in the crease. Jankowski came around the goal and backhanded it into the half empty net. It was the opposite of the usual tic-tac-toe goal. Former Ads player Cole Schneider scored with 14 seconds remaining in the period to make it 2-1. The Wolves had a double screen and I doubt the Askarov ever saw the puck coming. In the period, Linesperson Shawn Oliver #56 called 3 consecutive Off Sides on Milwaukee. I would bet $20 that the first two were both wrong calls. The third call was very close with 3 Admirals crossing the Blue Line at nearly the same time.

In period 2, the Ads coughed up the puck in the Neutral Zone. Chicago scored an unassisted goal to make it 3-1. Asky was hung out to dry. At 8:48, Navrin Mutter received a Roughing penalty because he pushed the Chicago puck carrier in the back between his numbers. The Wolves player, who was already leaning far forward, fell down. I have been pushed harder than that in a grocery store. That prompted the second "ref you suck" chant of the game, this one directed at Shaun Davis. One minute later, Chicago scored a PPG to make it 4-1. Give Davis an assist!

At 16:23, Linesperson Russell Jordan (#57) started a fight. He faked dropping the puck. Jankowski was lined up against Dominic Franco, who is a little bigger than Janko. On the second drop, Franco puts Jankowski into a headlock. He never tried to play the puck. Jankowski was trying to break free and they skated over to the halfwall with Franco throwing short punches to the face. Jankowski got him pinned up against the wall in the SW corner. That was all he could do. They both received 5 minutes for fighting. That triggered another round of "ref you suck". Before the period ended, an Admiral puck carrier was pulled down in the O-zone. That prompted yet another round of "ref you suck" when no penalty was called.

In period 3, one penalty was called on Chicago at 6:17 for Hooking. The Ads had a couple of good shots but missed the top corner of the net twice.

It kind of blows my mind that the NHL hasn't cracked down on some of the goonery in the AHL. You would think they would want to keep these guys as healthy as possible and the NHL itself would be directing the Refs to keep things in line.

Shaun Davis has been in the AHL for nine years. I am sure that the NHL gave up on him years ago.

Chicago frequently play like that against Milwaukee. After Milwaukee scored their goal, Cory Conacher, (another former Admiral) started hacking at Anthony Angello's ankles before the puck was dropped. Angello returned the favor and then squared up to fight the much smaller Conacher. Cory just backed up before the ref who was not dropping the puck came over to talk to him and only him. No penalties were called. I am convinced that if Angello started it, he would have gone to the box.

Ain't no one worried about some guy that has been there 9 years, its the guys they are messing with that need to be protected. You start suspending these old vets and take some of that money away whenever they pull some of that mess it would come to an end.

Milwaukee plays the Iowa Wild at 7 PM CT tonight.

The 7-6 Admirals are playing for third place versus the 6-6-1-1 Wild.

Last game. Milwaukee beat Chicago 2-1 on the road on goal by Kevin Wall (1) and a PPG by Tye Felhaber (4).

If you can't watch via AHL TV, try IHeart radio, the Big 920 in Milwaukee.

How’s Svechkov looking? Point totals are looking nice for a rookie in his first year over in North America but curious how he actually looks out there on the ice? Cheers!

Svechkov scored the first goal of last night's game on his only shot. It was his 4th goal of the season. He has 9 points in 14 games and is a +6 with 2 PIMs. He skates and passes well as a Center. He played a more physical game than usual, but some of the Iowa Wild players are dirty. Milwaukee punished them along the boards for some of that. I see a good future for him in North America. He has played all 14 games so far.

Milwaukee defeated Iowa 3-1 last night in a battle for third place in the division.

The Admirals dominated the first 10 minutes of the game, building a 8-1 SOG lead. Iowa adjusted and started blocking some shots. By the end of the period, it was 9-8 Ads with no goals scored.

In period 2, Svechkov scored (4) with assists to Angello (3) and Livingstone (3). Ninety seconds later, it was Roland McKeown (3) from the high slot with assists to Gurianov (9) and Jankowski (8). Jankowski started the play with a point blank shot on goal. Gurianov recovered the puck and made a brilliant pass to McKeown near the blue line. McKeown took two strides towards the net and sniped one.
Six minutes later, it was Jankowski (3) with assists to Gurianov (10) and McKeown (3). Milwaukee should have scored two more goals in the period, but they missed open nets. Iowa scored with 30 seconds remaining to make it 3-1. The SOG were 10-6 Milwaukee.

The second period had a fight after Wilsby was blind sided by Raska along the left half wall. Reid Schaefer went after Raska and they dropped the gloves. Schaefer isn't a fighter, but he stood up for his teammate and sent a message to Raska, who also had a Boarding penalty three minutes into the game. He is one of three DIRTY players for the Iowa Whiners, who complained to the refs the entire game.

The third period had Iowa leading SOG 10-6. Askarov was in goal and looked sharp.

Getting more comfortable by the game. The point totals are looking even more nice when you think that he's the 3C and virtually has no PP points.

Not going to blow your socks off in any aspect of the game but just an overall solid hockey player. I would think he could use another year after this one in the AHL but after that he should be a solid middle-six center in the NHL-level.
