An NBA player or star offensive player in the NFL has a greater impact and is exponentially harder to find than a general manager or scout. I think he has value to a team as a scout, and it isn't as if what he did was some sort of criminally prosecutable scandal.

Even if the Dadonov thing never happened, I'd have been shocked if he was rehired as a GM in the NHL. Shocked.
The thing he has going for him was the first round of the 2020 draft. He just did the simple smart picks and ended up with the best forward and defenceman in the draft plus Greig at 28.

If I was an owner and I wanted a switch it's not like PD doesn't have a pretty good resume outside of the Dadonov situation.

So, I think Dorion gets another GM job somewhere in the league (if he's allowed). It was only a month ago that TSN was praising him for drafting all these great young players.

You lost me, lol. I would be willing to bet you $100 that he doesn't get another GM job in the NHL. His 2021 draft was abysmal, and he made some absolutely boneheaded moves otherwise. The team simply was not successful under his management, and his soft skills were amongst the worst in the NHL. Simply not a good GM.

Never a slow day in Sens Land.

Wonder what’s happening now.

Some type of player movement if I were to guess.

With how things have been going, Sens are probably going down a Michigan Football road

Honest question, because I keep seeing this idea getting brought up...

Do people not know that the NHL already has a central registry which is located in Montreal?

Central Registry

The NHL's Central Registry Department is responsible for maintaining all player information. It maintains the NHL clubs' reserve lists which contain the names and vital status information of all players a club has proprietary rights to, either contractual rights or exclusive negotiation rights. It records the status of each player with regard to contracts, waivers, free agency etc. It tracks a player from the first time he is drafted until the completion of his career as a player.
I know. But it does not track NTC and NMV details. Those would be an easy addition with appropriate privacy conditions.

I wouldn't take that bet. But I have seen stranger things happen.

Kyle Dubas had basically no experience at 30 years old and gets the GM position in Toronto. He does not draft anybody that makes a significant impact in the NHL. It was hard to watch... THEN Pittsburgh sings him as the GM.

If Dubas can do that then PD can come back from Dadonov.

Perhaps buzzword is the wrong choice of words. But it is a relatively new term.

Point being an app could be stood up relatively quick
List all the actors , roles and responsibilities including administration
Identify data requirements and a data model
Identify and List the functional and non functional requirements.
Identify all the security requirements
Tell us how you overcome data entry errors
You don't have to do design and development .. but leave time within the couple of hours estimate to complete it.
Get back to us when you are done.

no opinion about Langenbrunner per se, but being an American (or not) needn't be on the list of reasons. What kind of "ins" does he have besides sharing a passport, or maybe having high sticked one of their fathers in the face. It's not like we are in Japan trying to sign American players.

Three from your list managed to sign long term with a Canadian GM barely capable of a coherent sentence, and Chych doesn't fit in the category in the first place.
from 2019 and not overly detailed. But see the trend

Undoubtedly someone has documented the number of NHLers of USA origin in the league as a function of time

As of Oct. 2023, 41% of NHLers are Canadian, ~ 30% are American..

Times are changing. Soon, they will represent the majority and we need to be ahead of it. Get an American, get him to relate to his own and they to him.

As the number of players increases, so will coaches and scouts, etc. Again, get ahead of it.

A young American, a GM between 40 and 50.. whether Langenburner or not, would be a good move.

You may also want him to hire a US coach.

Senators stars/future stars
Brady: US development, US college
Sanderson: Ditto
Norris: Ditto

Coveted
2C/3C Pinto: USA college
3-6 D Tyler Klevin: US college

Dual Citizen.
Chych. and Junior hockey

Canadians from Junior hockey:
Thomas Chabot... poster child for arguments over his worth and contribution
Batherson.. poster child for arguments over his worth and contribution
Greig... a 3C.. basically one guy

a bit lopsided (yes Giroux... a 36 year old form a bygone era)

The Blackhawks can field 12-13 Americans.. See Pittsburgh
The Pens have 5 or so Canadians only.. granted many spots are also European

like I said, the times are changing.. change with them

Let's hire Phil Kessel to the strength and conditioning team to teach the players how to avoid injuries.

I don't know what this is supposed to prove. what if we had landed oh, McDavid and Bedard etc. Should we have hired only CDN staff? I see Vegas has 18 Canadians. Lucky they had a Canadian as GM so that they could fit in nicely.

at any rate this is silly, because the implication is what, that some otherwise qualified Canadian GM wouldn't be able to understand the complexities of that exotic creature known as an American and vice versa.

I think i'll start my list of disappointing US and Euro players and coaches the sens have and do have.

I want to see the report before saying anything about what happened.
Wouldn’t hold my breath waiting to see that report.

I’m also just responding to the part where you said you didn’t hear Andlauer say we were negligent. He’s read the report and specifically said we were negligent

Yeah I think some people are confusing the NHL owner not knowing what’s going on with the fans not knowing what’s going on.

Andlauer made it pretty clear that he knows exactly what’s going on with Pinto and the Daddy trade.

He doesn’t like the hypocrisy of pushing gambling and punishing it so severely, and he doesn’t like that the league took their time getting the info to him on both accounts.

Letting the fans see the reports is not a thing either team or league, or player would want. As Andlauer said the Pinto situation is extremely personal, not for public consumption.

lol. I didn't even bother noting (because it's a cheap shot) that we have an american coach on staff and I'd like to shoot him in the sun.

I also like how he uses fan reactions to a player (say Chabot) as a way to, I dunno, make American players better than everyone I guess.

Also, if we assume those player profiles as gospel, then they can have Batherson because he was born in the US and we can claim Sanderson because his father is a Canadian NHLer and I figure his hockey sense and skill is more due to nature and input from the old man than it is due to the great hockey factory of Whitefish Montana
