Was the local media good at discerning which decisions were his vs Melnyk's? I always tried to follow that stuff but had a hard time figuring out which decisions were his.

I liked a lot of the moves he made, but he does deserve to be removed for the worst ones I can think of off the top of my head. I know he was bad, but I don't think he was THAT bad. He's literally got Ottawa looking better (on paper) that they have in a long time, and almost none of that has to do with the new owner.
He tore a team down from the studs who went to the conference final then lost for 6 straight seasons. I would hope that they have a decent team. They are currently sitting outside of a playoff spot with basically not having a first rounder for 3 straight years and now they are losing another 1st. He was terrible at his job.

Pierre told us many times that he made the hockey decisions. ... Since Melnyk he's done enough to fire him . Enough excuses

Well, let's see what the future brings

In the here and now, I really like Andlauer. He just seems like a down to earth human being. I never had a great vibe about Melnyk or Bryden. Both just rubbed me the wrong way. But I like Andlauer. I like his approach to accountability and I like how he receives and answers media questions

The sheer number of young star forwards he's traded away is staggering.

Seguin for Eriksson + Smith, Wheeler for Peverly, Hall for Larsson - all are fireable offenses.

Like with Dorion, not only has the end results of Chiarelli's moves been bad, but so has the process and the "thinking" behind the moves.
The Wheeler trade was perfectly reasonable.

Peverley was a significantly better player at the time and he helped them win a cup.

There was nothing to suggest that a guy about to turn 25 with 3 seasons under his belt would randomly develop into a ppg guy in his late 20s.

If you're going to shit on him for bad trades (I maintain Hall for Larsson was a good trade, even if he didn't maximize value), then you have to give him credit for extracting Hamilton and Seguin out of Kessel.
