Leafs didn’t play well tonight, but they were battling. It was unfortunate being tied, Fred should have saved that first one, but they were still battling.

What is infuriating is yet again, Fred fails in the third when it counts, and you could INSTANTLY see the team deflate after the third Jets goal.

It’s such a shame how much of this bad streak falls on Fred (it’s hard to ever blame one guy this much) but he has been THAT bad.

1st goal he was blinded by a light in the rafters
2nd goal his dog ate the pregame notes
3rd goal he was dehydrated
4th goal someone yelled Fore !
5th goal , he thought he was doing a good thing letting in 5
in fact if there was more time left , he was going to let in 7
You are forgetting something. In all 5 goals, it's the defence's fault:sarcasm:

Play Liljegren you cowards
Or our former player that kinda sounds like him
Hall of Famer , Labrador Hall though

Or it could be a streak of poor goaltending.

There is no doubt the Leafs were the far superior team in the first two games against the Jets and arguably the better team against the Canucks.

So how is it effort if you are outplaying your opponent by a wide margin and losing?
I guess we define effort differently. The 3 games against the Oilers is the effort I'm taking about (not sustainable I know). Need to see that more consistently. I do agree with you on goaltending though. All the more reason to dig in your heals and work harder to shield a struggling team mate. This team gives up to easily and quickly. Need more pushback and not just the last 3 minutes of a game.

actually it was a brilliant move by PM to start their back up

he knows how arrogant we are ,they mentaly went soft when they thought they had easy pickings in net

PM got the leafs to exhale,,what a brilliant strat by a vet coach

As a Jet fan I agree, Maurice by playing his backup played mind games on the Leafs but most of HFBoard Jets fans would disagree. They hate Maurice.

I also think Maurice was playing mind games on his own players also to get them out of their reliance on Helle to bail them out. Maurice goes to the backup goalie and boom the Jets play their best defensive game in this 3 game series. I don't think this is a coincident.

IF we get "average good" tending,,,like .911 (16th among starters) instead of .899 30th

then we stand a chance in the POs,,but Fred is not close to those numbers

Last 4 games for Andersen? .871, .826, .889, .844.

When the Leafs outplayed the Canucks in the second game and the first two games against the Jets and only have a win to show for it... simply not good enough. Making the saves you’re supposed to is simply not good enough. Being the second best goalie on the ice regardless of who the other guy is, is not good enough. Not anymore.

The hell is this crap?

it's the prelim for setting up the "Fire Keefe" narrative. It starts small and almost innocuous but it sticks in the head of one or two LeaFlanders and suddenly crystallizes into a fully formed and ill intentioned realization and then of course somebody posts "that" thread and next thing you know the negativity is so bad Dave Feschuk writes his semi annual "worst Leaf draft/loss/trade column" and good ol Steve at The Sun writes his what coaches were available when Dubas made the bad decision on Keefe and the fire is suddenly burning out of control. LeaFland seems to love playing that game and don't even realize they're being played.

In any playoff match the Leafs are facing two goalies. The opposition trying to stop them and Fredlight trying to give away the series.

thats a true beauty:laugh:

1st goal he was blinded by a light in the rafters "wrapped up like a deuce by a roamer in the night"

2nd goal his dog ate the pregame notes "and he brought the still warm proof from the back yard"

3rd goal he was dehydrated "and was forced into the drinking from the well of bantam house league brew"

4th goal someone yelled Fore ! "he thought it was a test and said 5"

5th goal , he thought he was doing a good thing letting in 5 "figured that if he didn't some peeps might have some very unrealistic expectations of him in any upcoming game 7's"

in fact if there was more time left , he was going to let in 7 "but got pulled for the extra attacker" :m-mad:

Kerf a 1st 2021 + (2nd 2022 or a prospect) + for Forsberg + Colorado 4th 2021

Liljegren and Sandin are off limits, if they want somebody like Robertson, then a 2nd is the price and they do not get a 1st from us, the plus is a future considerations kind of thing

Kerfoot + Robertson + 2nd 2021 + 3rd 2022 for Forsberg and a 2nd 2021

Forsberg - Matty - Mitchell
Spezza/Thornton - JT - Nylander
Simmonds - Engvall - Mikheyev
Galchenyuk - Boyd - Thornton/Spezza

Spezza and Thornton rotate on and off the top line so they both get @12mins +/-

If Galchenyuk looks like he can play again at this level, then he plays with JT and Willie and reshuffle the bottom 6 to look like this:

Forsberg - Matty - Mitchell
Galchenyuk - JT - Nylander
Boyd - Engvall - Mikheyev
Simmonds Spezza Thornton
What good is trading for Forsberg going to do if we see this version of Andersen in the playoffs again?

Dubas going all in at the deadline without addressing the elephant in the room could be a major mistake.

.860 sv% my gawd pathetic

There's definitely a thing in hockey (goes beyond the Leafs) where folks get too overprotective of goalies.

And while admittedly I don't like pile on but there's zero excuse for him to be sitting at a sub .900 sv%. Especially with how Hutch and Campbell have played.

He's a starting goalie. He NEEDS to be better than this. Especially for 5 million a year

He's always been inconsistent in season but we would get months of high quality play to balance out the months of God awful

We just aren't getting the good months anymore, he looks like an average starter going through a pretty aggressive decline in his early 30's

I wouldn't even dream of resigning him this off-season
