There is nothing 'black and white' in the discussion regarding the employment of Don Sweeney (and even Cam Neely) in the Bruins front office, past this season.

The potential for their dismissal exists. That is a fact.

That makes the discussion obvious.

Therefore at this juncture, I think anyone who is being dismissive or condescending, is the person who is the furthest away from the actual truth.

You can be pro whatever, just don't be pro jackass

That sounds like a great political stance.

After so many years of been a pro jackass and perfecting his craft, he is now an elite jackass.

excellent post, the unfortunate thing is in this day and age, most fans want to hear nothing about medium and long term goals

Strangely - I feel the opposite has happened with fans over the past 5-10 years. Fans are more and more prone to talk about some mythical future than what is actually happening on the ice.

Whether it's chat rooms, the cap, easy access to players salaries, EA Sports, sports radio, draft coverage, the internet in general, marketing by the NHL and many of its teams... the second things aren't going perfectly for a team more and more fans want the whole thing blown up for some 5 year rebuild plan.
The NHL is painting themselves into a corner, creating a generation of people who look at the game as an armchair GM rather than a fan.

The difference is those two lines actually have some level of talent.

Nash, Hayes, Acciari, Kuraly don't.

I've never seen folks defend guys with 2, 1, or ZERO goals so much as I have here.
Kuraly has played 5 games in Boston this year

Acciari has played less than half

Hayes (by the way it looks) is on his way out the door

So really we're just talking about Nash?

What did I post this like a month ago?

So yeah at his point I guess were talking about Nash. Who has scored a goal since then. albeit another fluky sort of goal.

Anyways this is a Sweeney thread and I've said all I want to about Riley Nash.

Yeah God forbid a fan of this team has faith in the brass and likes the plan set forth. No way Sweeney gets fired after only two seasons.

Calling Sweeney an elite jacksss after not even 2 years

Nice

No way Sweeney gets fired after 2 years, they are going to give him more time than that. If they miss the playoffs they'll fire Julien.

Posters are reporting here he's in trouble but why would scouts/Personnel folks leave the USA program or other organizations like Jamie langenbrunner join a volatile situation

Saying he's in trouble is just (some posters) wishful thinking.
Playoffs or not - he's not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
I like Sweeney and think ownership is fully behind him. I don't think he has major pressure on him from above. He will (and should) have another year and a half at least before there's any serious possibility of him getting fired.
I like Sweeney.

p.s. the one thing I find disingenuous in regards to assessing Sweeney so far is the accolades he's gotten for getting them out of cap trouble. I'd have been much more impressed with that feat if the team was able to make the playoffs last year. If you're going to trade away two 'core' pieces in Lucic and Hamilton for nothing but future's - sure you're going to get cap room. But that's all it is, and was last year, cap room.
I find it strange that Chia got raked over the coals for trading Boychuk for futures and cap room and missing the playoffs while Sweeney gets praised for doing the exact same thing with two more valuable players.

I'd say when you eliminate the noise from the most extreme positions for or against Sweeney there's a good discussion to be had on a small body of work.

Just doesn't seem worth putting in the effort when 95% of the time it's going to descend into personal insults and people who aren't willing to have respect for opinions that don't mesh with their own.

Too bad, it's an interesting time for this team.

Yesterday with the score 1-1 I posted in the game thread Bergeron with the winner today

Bingo

Last week with the score 2-2 in Buffalo I posted game thread 'feeling Soooner!

Bingo

That's verifiable

Friday night sitting at Merrimack 1-1 game 5 minutes left I say to her 'feeling Bjork'

Bingo

Feeling Bergeron hoisting the Cup as captain age 34 and Don Sweeney the NHL executive of year.
