And like, what I'm asking isn't difficult. It's really not.

Tampa didn't get Kucherov with a high pick. Everyone Dallas picks is good. Minnesota found Kaprisov in a f***ing cereal box. Sam f***ing Reinhart has 139 points since the start of last season. Edmonton gets McDavid and then they get f***ing Draisaitl. Brayden Point was like a 99th round pick. So was Jesper Bratt.

We had picks 7, 9, 2, and 1, all forwards, and couldn't make it happen.

It seems like great forwards just pop up everywhere but here.

I'm not even saying I want a multi-Cup dynasty. I'm saying give me a nice core that's fun and that I can rely on, and then we'll see how we paper in the holes and where luck takes us.
I want a multi-cup dynasty, if such a thing even exists in a salary cap league.

I want to shut rival fans up.

Our team's history is f***ing horrendous. We have finished dead last in the league more than any other club. (Granted, much of that in the O6 era.)

We've been around 100 years and gotten what? Laughed at.

Can you imagine how much more relevant hockey as a sport would be if the team in New York had been even halfway decent in the 50s and 60s and 70s? My god...

It can’t be understated how much better they’d be if they literally just scratch Lindgren. He is quite literally off the charts bad
yeah another thing just continues to blow my mind. You've got a top 3 D in the league and are just tying a boat anchor to him

How can even a coaches eye test think Lindgren is any good? He constantly kills offense. If he just immediately gave the puck to Fox every time it'd be a 1000% improvement. He can't defend at all. He's not "tough" against other players because he's small and weak compared to most NHL forwards. He blocks shots? Great, what's he doing on the 1st pair?

f***ing insane

Took me a minute to find him.

This is another vestige of New York Rangers hockey that needs to go in the great fire. Falling head over heels in love with terrible players because they were good for five minutes playing with your best player.

And they get WORSE every time too! This schmuck makes Girardi look like Paul Coffey,

That's pushing a boulder up a sheet of ice. They'll find something.

I think you need an owner who cares and is willing to spend $$ but also wants to find the best hockey mind to run the team and then step back
You need a newer school GM who can really evaluate the team and players and how to build a team but has at least an idea of how to build the chemistry of a team.
You need a coach who can pull a team together but knows how to leverage statistics and evaluate players realistically and not based on vibes.

But he has a fun moustache and scored that last second goal against Buffalo 78 years ago that is in every pre-game highlight pack in the arena.

The other thing with Panarin fundamentally changed the way this team plays is he slows things down. He's got people around him slowing the game down. The rest of the league is increasing their quickness with the puck. It's not even about pure skating speed. It's just doing everything fast. You've got this guy who likes to get the puck from the defenseman, survey the ice, maybe make that patented rink-wide pass, maybe carry it up yourself because you're so uber-talented that only you can do that. Everyone else gets enamored by it. Then everyone plays to pander to him. Then it becomes the team's style. Instead of immediately moving the puck up ice, it's moving it back before the opposition actually has to start defending your rush. Holy shit i can count to 10 while they pass it back or reverse it behind the net to begin going up ice and make that first pass. Or the forward comes back from the neutral zone because they cheated for a rush and does a huge circle curl to accept the first pass like at 50% of NHL speed. It's not fooling anyone. And after all that, it's all perimeter shit in the offensive zone. Meanwhile, the guys who actually try to play hockey are your bottom 6 guys who are just borderline good sometimes. It's no fun anymore.

And not that I would support or dislike hiring Coach Q at this stage because off-the-ice stuff aside, he wasn't that impressive in Florida, but I just have a strong feeling this is where we'll pivot.

But seriously, before they do anything, they need to get rid of Drury

At a certain point, values have to matter more than hockey.

I get what @Megustaelhockey is saying about wanting to win a bunch.

All I'm saying is, baby steps.

We haven't won, but we also haven't had a prolonged kick at the can with a great core that has a couple of Hall of Famers on it. Do that, and the rest is up to where the puck wants to go, mostly.

We've never even given ourselves the chance.

Even our Cup win was a one-and-done team of old mercenaries that had Leetch get hot at the right time. They were never winning it outside of that year, and tbh, the organization mostly wasted Leetch's talent.

It can’t be stressed enough how whiffing on all 4 of those picks will set this team back about a decade. Stop putting money into dancers like Panarin and pour as much money as you can into an All Star scouting staff.

The rebuild died when Laff and Kakko never became superstars. And their one shrewd pick with Chytil and his dumb concussion luck was the nail in the coffin. Everything else is window dressing.
Right, and you can chalk some of that up to luck, but they should have been aggressive in making big trade swings as soon as that become apparent,

They waited until Kakko's value was basically a 3rd and a 6th.

Miss me with that patience and development bullshit. If your lottery pick is him, you can tell immediately.
