Same. I have never been more wrong about a player. I didn't want him. Now, despite his contract, he is an absolute favorite of mine.

We don't need Kakko to be Barkov to win the cup. Absurd.
Yeah, he's never going to be worth the contract. I think we all knew that at the time, so no one should be surprised.

When he's on he's a very good defensive defenseman who is also one of the most intimidating physical players in the game. He's also a leader. I know the "Here's our record since the helmet toss!" was often a tongue-in-cheek thing, but I don't think anyone can objectively dispute that his passion affects the team in a positive way.

Even after everything else had cleared up last night, he was still trying to cave in Dumba's skull. He'll do absolutely anything for the other guys in that locker room and they all know it.

There is no solution. Players are human. The Rangers shoot above what human NHL players currently do in 2023.

Forget the analytics. You wanna talk about the comments in GDT's? Look at other team's GDT's.

You know who else always makes backups look great? You know who else has a shitty powerplay? You know who else always gives up first NHL goals? You know who else [enter trope here]?

And yet many times, we saw that the goalie who stoned us got shellacked against the next opponent.

I don't want to bow down to Akira Schmid anymore. Is this too much of an ask?
It's not, but the thing is, we sucked fried ass in that series. I absolutely want to not do that as I've said many times.

That wasn't a case of making a backup goalie play great. That was a case of making a backup goalie make like nine easy saves a game.

If Kakko puts up 30 points again on a line that has a 60+% xGF. keep f***ing playing that line! I don't care.

Maybe figure out another fix, but like I said, playing him with not Kreider and not Zibanejad won't help him score more anyway. Common sense.

Bigger, better Fast is not good for a #2 overall but is a valuable player.

He's still 22. Buchnevich wasn't good until he was 23 and he wasn't like, really good until he was 26.

We should do anything we can to get more of him than that but if he's that now, and the line he's on is one of the best in hockey (it should be), then just ride it out.

And another thing.

This board? f***ing incredible. The Honor Society compared to what's out there.

I'm somebody who ventures out. I read the mains and shit. You wouldn't believe what people complain about and say on a regular basis.

I've had to explain Wayne Gretzky being good to people more times than I can count.

Schmid aside, we make plenty of backup goalies and rookie goalies look like absolute monsters. Now if you're saying this happens to all teams and there's no solution, then fine, let's just accept it. And then maybe we all should stop complaining about chest snipes and missing wide on gaping nets because of the IT WILL HAPPEN laws of statistics. And be happy with our vaunted expected goals for number. Zib, you go ahead and keep attempting that one-timer that everyone knows is coming. Trouba, you keep shooting it just for the sake of shooting it, and that's when you're not completely missing the net.

When done right and I think that shows exactly why Lias Andersson was a failure and what I had wrong about both Trouba and Lias. When Lias threw his Silver Medal, I thought it was a sign of passion and leadership, saying this isn't good enough I want more, when really it was him being a spoiled brat.

When Trouba demanded his way out of Winnipeg, I thought it was entitlement and he would be a team cancer. When in reality, he is the exact opposite.

:dunno:

Well, I felt exactly the same way about Lias, so, you're hardly alone in that one.

I'm almost positive that the Rangers actually perform better than average against back up goalies.

This is the NHL equivalent to "we're always getting killed by the guy hitting 9th."

I think the silver medal thing was overblown in both directions.

Hope you and Machine don't misconstrue me as being unhappy through 3 games because I'm liking the play-driving off the forecheck a lot more than getting caved and having to opportunistically rely on rush attempts. Let's try and raise it a bit more above the mean if at all possible.

LMFAO yep. Rangers were completely anemic offensively after game 2 (as they were all season). Hard to generate offense in the playoffs when you’re relying on guys like Trouba/Mikkola/Schneider who stifle all transition

I have lists.

Legitimate things to complain about with the Rangers:

-We don't exactly score a ton of goals over the last few years and we can speculate on the reasons all day
-We tend to get outplayed 5v5 over the last few years
-There's like one bad goalie and we found him
-Schneider sucks and, by extension, our third pair sucks
-If you want the kids to score more, that's valid
-We're slower than eternity
-Goodrow sucks
-Outside of Panarin we don't have good passers at forward

Things that every fanbase complains about every game:

-Missing the net
-Making random goalies look good
-Some rookie scored on us
-Some scrub scored on us
-We had the lead and then we didn't
-Our powerplay sucks
-"Overpassing"
-The ice sucks
-We always lose in overtime
-This arena is dark
-Chest snipe
-Compete level/effort/toughness/whatever all in one category
-The other team got some chances therefore we suck at coverage

Please bring me up to speed on how KAM is a cornerstone. He's a turnover machine who can't defend. I really think he should be a forward playing forward, because right now he looks like a forward playing defense.
tsss... don't piss on the narrative.

You forgot "ex-teammate absolutely shat on us in a revenge game."

1000%. If good things are happening the points will come, and if they don't, well the line is great so don't touch it.
Lavi seems to actually put thought and care into his lineup decisions, so I am not expecting things to be shaken up after only two games.
Regarding the second line, there is a lot of potential there and I am liking the way they are controlling the puck. Let them build chemistry because Panarin is playing his best hockey in a while and that will rub off on everyone around him. I'd be shocked if it doesn't.

I think I saw on reddit somebody run the numbers and sure enough former rangers had the highest point totals againts the Rangers when compared to other teams.

I wish the arena was darker, turn off the lights, turn off the lights. It adds some character.

True.

And also losing to a bad team or getting embarassed.

Even the other night people were like "can't lose to Columbus!!"

Vegas lost 5-2 to San Jose last year. They lost four in a row. They lost 7-2. They had multiple 5-1 losses in the playoffs.
